Their first game will be against the 2-4 Indiana Fever on Saturday. Chicago lost on opening weekend to the Fever by a score of 93-58 in a game where 2024 WNBA All-Star Angel Reese scored 12 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.
A video surfaced from Sky practice on Tuesday as they prepare to avenge their 35-point loss to the Fever. The footage showed Reese receiving a pass from rookie guard Hailey Van Lith and driving to the paint for a basket.
The nature of this footage was unexpected, as fans were surprised to see Reese working on a hook shot.
"A HOOK," one fan replied.
"Y'all wanted the Skyhook 🫣👀," another responded.

"Ok Angel Kareem Reese with the hook shot!" a fan joked. "Once she gets that hook shot down... it's over for the rest of you!!! 😆🤣."
"Hook shot over a double team 🙂‍↕️," another fan chimed in.

Fans were also pleased to see what looks like increased defensive intensity on Reese from previous Sky practice videos.
"They're triple teaming baby goat in practice?" one fan asked. "Love to see it 🙂‍↕️."
"Yes, four bodies like it happens in-game," a fan pointed out.
"About time they are playing Angel in practice how teams play her," another added.
"Yes to multiple defenders, yes to outside shots!" one chimed in.

Paige Bueckers' Former Teammate Sends Message After Career Move

Paige Bueckers' Former Teammate Sends Message After Career Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After winning the women's NCAA championship with Paige Bueckers at UConn roughly two months ago, Kaitlyn Chen dreamed of making it as a player in the WNBA. Advertisement She was taken with the No. 30 overall pick in the third round of April's draft by the expansion Golden State Valkyries, but she was cut on May 14 just prior to the start of the regular season. But her dream of playing pro basketball isn't necessarily over. Chen announced on X on Tuesday that she has joined 3XBA, a three-on-three women's FIBA pro basketball league that also focuses on the development of its players. She let it be known that she will be taking part in Spokane Hoopfest as part of 3XBA later this month. "Hey Hoopfest fans, this is Kaitlyn," she said. "I can't wait for 3XBA Spokane." Chen grew up in the greater Los Angeles area, where she became the all-time leader in points, assists and rebounds at Flintridge Preparatory School. As a junior and senior, she was named the All-Area Player of the Year by Pasadena Star-News, a local media outlet in the San Gabriel Valley section of the Southland. Advertisement She spent her first three seasons of college basketball at Princeton before transferring to UConn for the 2024-25 season. Chen became the first Taiwanese woman to win an NCAA championship, and just weeks later, she was the first to be drafted into the WNBA and play in a WNBA preseason game. Paige Bueckers' Coach Delivers Blunt Response on Disappointing Season

Paige Bueckers' Coach Delivers Blunt Response on Disappointing Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Prior to the start of this WNBA season, Chris Koclanes was hired to be the head coach of the Dallas Wings. He had been an assistant coach with the Connecitcut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks, but he had never been a head coach at either the pro or college levels. Advertisement The Wings went 9-31 last year and have struggled to be more than a middle-of-the-pack team for a long time. After losing 83-77 to the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, they fell to 1-7, which is the worst record in the league. Koclanes was asked how he has been handling the adversity he has dealt with so far this season in his first head coaching gig. "Just leaning on my support system," he said. "Leaning on that GM bucket, our coaching staff and my mentors to just trust and stay the course and continue to do the work. I need to show up consistent every single day regardless of outcome for our players and continue to exude belief and confidence in them, because that's the only way this thing is going to turn." The Wings were given a big dose of hope when they won the draft lottery, which allowed them to take UConn star Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft. Advertisement Bueckers has struggled offensively at times this season, and she has missed their last two games after being placed in concussion protocol. She had led UConn to the women's NCAA championship only about two months ago and won a slew of individual awards during her time there. Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers (5). Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images Clearly, becoming a very competitive team will be a long-term process for Dallas, and it sounds as if Koclanes has steeled himself to endure that process. The franchise has won just one playoff series since 2009, the last season it was known as the Detroit Shock. While based in Detroit, it had won three WNBA championships in 2003, 2006 and 2008. Caitlin Clark Surpassed as WNBA MVP Betting Favorite

Caitlin Clark Surpassed as WNBA MVP Betting Favorite originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Even as she sits on the bench, missing multiple games due to injury, Caitlin Clark remains the center of attention in the WNBA. Clark last saw game action on May 24, a 90-88 loss to the reigning WNBA champion, New York Liberty. She was then diagnosed with a strained left quadriceps, requiring approximately two weeks of recovery. Advertisement The Indiana Fever continued to lose their next two games before picking up their first win without Clark against the Washington Mystics 85-76 on Tuesday. While the Fever were in the midst of winning their third game of the season, Clark and her betting fans received unfortunate news. As per @PolymarketSport on X, Clark was surpassed as the favorite to win the WNBA MVP award this season. The new frontrunner to win the award is now the Minnesota Lynx', Napheesa Collier. Collier's odds are now minus-160, becoming the overwhelming favorite. Collier has emerged as one the WNBA's most consistent, talented players. She finished as the runner-up in MVP voting last season to A'ja Wilson. Advertisement Collier and the Lynx are playing as well as any player and team in the league right now, and were active on Tuesday night as well. Collier finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and one block during the Lynx' 88-65 win over the Phoenix Mercury. The Lynx remain one of only two undefeated teams in the WNBA at 8-0. The Liberty are the other undefeated team, sitting sit at 7-0. Collier is leading the league in scoring while shooting 52.5% from the field.
