Skyline Mini Golf is back on the Walker rooftop in May

It's time to golf with a view. Skyline Mini Golf will return to the Walker Art Center's rooftop with 10 holes designed by local artists, all of which offer a striking view of the Minneapolis skyline. The Walker will open up its artsy golfing season on May 21. This year's course includes holes that take your ball for a ride on the light rail and tell a story of Hmong culture in Minnesota, as well as ones that offer a twist on Plinko and ping pong. The 2025 Skyline Mini Golf season will run through Oct. 5. Admission is $12 or $10 for Walker members. Kids five and under are free with a paid ticket. Additionally, an admission to the galleries can be added to a mini golf ticket for $9.

Walker Art Center unveils slate of free summertime events

The Walker Art Center is ready for the move to outdoor events. In addition to unveiling dates for its Skyline Mini Golf late last month, it has revealed its slate of free summertime events, which includes the return of Sound for Silents. The annual movie event on the Walker's hillside commissions a new score for silent films, which are performed in the late summer outside the institution. On Aug. 14, filmmaker Philip Harder (who was behind Prince's "Cinnamon Girl" and the Low documentary Cue the Strings—a Film About Low) will collaborate with the ensemble of singer/songwriter Matt Arthur to present new music to films from the Walker's Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection. Other events throughout the summer include events for the Walker's Free Thursday Nights, which opens the museum to all visitors every Thursday from 5–9 p.m. It'll also host events around its ongoing Free First Saturday series, which opens the galleries and puts on family-friendly events on the first Saturday of each month.
