WATCH: Cogta MEC unveils transformative budget plans for KwaZulu-Natal
Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, is presenting the departmental budget policy speech, outlining a transformative vision for the province over the next year.
At the heart of the MEC's proposals is the Small Town Rehabilitation Programme, an ambitious plan designed to breathe new life into the province's struggling towns. The initiative aims to address pressing economic challenges faced by these communities and ensure they are not left behind in the wider economic recovery.
"We believe that every town has the potential to thrive; our role is to create the necessary conditions to facilitate this,' Buthelezi stated ahead of the address.
Alongside economic revitalisation, Buthelezi is set to unveil a new service delivery model tailored to fast-track essential services and assist municipalities in executing critical infrastructure projects.
