Skydiving, Immersive art: Indoor activities in Abu Dhabi the whole family can enjoy this summer
Feeling like summer is draining your energy and putting a full stop on your plans? In the Floating Lamps section, floating lights react to visitors' movements as well. Prepare to spend some time – and grey cells – exploring the space. Escape Prison Island If you are looking for a group activity that tests the strength of your relationship as much as it does your mind power, this is the escape room (or prison escape) experience you will really be able to get behind. You can have between two and six players per team (about 20 teams can play at the same time) who will navigate their way through 26 cells. Note: eight- to 11-year-olds need an accompanying adult. But this summer, you can get some defying gravity time in, in a controlled environment. CLYMB Yas Island Abu Dhabi instructors will strap you into your safety gear (after a briefing) and stand you in the 32-metre-tall flight chamber (incidentally, the world's tallest) and then switch on the fans. The air from a total of 16 whirring fans will carry you up, up, and away (to a safe point). When you buy a ticket, you get two flights, so don't worry too much if you've got your eyes closed during your first soar. The experience is available for those over three and those who weigh less than 115kg. Once you've celebrated your flight, don't forget to claim your flying certificate to remember the proud moment. From Dawaama Junior, the world's first Blaster ride for kids, to flume ride Bahamut Rage – which takes you on a three-minute thrilling journey before dropping you 15 metres – there's something for every adrenaline fan. World Yas Island This one is so much more than a theme park — it's where you can feel close to your favourite superheroes. Take a trip to the wild side at Ferrari World The really good thing about the UAE – theme parks don't take a summer break. At Ferrari World, you can ride on the world's quickest roller coaster, experience the highest non-inverted loop, and about 39 other rides and experiences. Got a little one in tow? They've have a blast with drive-inspired activities and perhaps a zoom at the Karting Academy.

Summer officially arrives in Abu Dhabi today (Saturday June 21), and is famously a time of year when temperatures are hot and humidity is rife. While there are a zillion fun indoor activities that are cool (in more ways than one), you may be wondering, 'How long does summer actually last in Abu Dhabi?' Don't worry, we've got the intel. How long will summer last in Abu Dhabi? Astronomically, it has been confirmed that summer will end on Monday September 22 in Abu Dhabi, meaning this year's summer period is exactly three months and one day long. 93 days in total, if you want to be precise. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Board Chairman of the fun indoor activities and member of the Arab Union for Space and Astronomy Sciences, confirmed the duration of the UAE summer for 2025. He said: 'Summer will begin astronomically on June 21 with the summer solstice and will last for three months until September 23. 'During this period, temperatures will range between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius, accompanied by dry conditions and active winds.' He continued, 'The UAE will experience its longest daylight hours between June 18 and 24, reaching up to 13 hours and 43 minutes.' After the summer solstice, we can start to look forward to the autumnal equinox, which will happen on Tuesday September 23. Snow Abu Dhabi is throwing a fun run for kiddos
Think fun runs are all about the sweat and sunburn? Think again. Snow Abu Dhabi is flipping the script – and the season – with the return of the Snow Fun Run, a wintry racecourse for kids aged 6 to 14 taking place in actual snow. Yep, you read that right. The capital's coolest indoor destination is hosting a fun-fuelled, frost-covered challenge where little adventurers can dash through a 400-metre track in sub-zero temperatures – all without leaving the UAE. Back for its second edition on Saturday, May 31, the event is organised in partnership with Abu Dhabi Sports Council and is packed with icy action. Kids will not only race against the clock, but also collect tokens throughout the course to enter a prize raffle at the end (because nothing says motivation like mystery prizes and hot chocolate at the finish line).
