Sonic ‘Tops' Its Summer Menu With 3 Sweet New Drink Offers

Sonic Drive-In's latest summer menu update is like the cherry on top of a sundae. On Tuesday, just about a week after the chain debuted its all-new Cheesy Garlic Pepperoni Bites and confirmed it would be bringing back two of its most "frequently requested" seasonal items (its Watermelon and Lemonberry Slushies), Sonic unveiled another menu innovation: Sweet Topped Lemonades. The drink menu newcomer is said to be available in three flavors, all of which feature a base of "all-natural lemonade" that's topped off with a "layer of velvety cold foam." Related: Sonic's Highly-Anticipated New Slush Is Officially Here-and It Comes With a Big Surprise According to a spokesperson for the brand, Sonic's Sweet Topped Lemonades will be offered in three flavors, at least to start, including Classic, Strawberry and Blueberry Lavender Lemonade. The Classic Sweet Topped Lemonade is described as a "tart all-natural lemonade" that's been dressed up with a "velvety sweet cold foam." Its Strawberry Lemonade variety takes that same lemonade base and adds "real fruit Strawberries" for an even summery version of the new bev. While the Blueberry Lavender version mixes the tart lemonade with a "Blueberry Lavender flavor" for those feeling a little more experimental. Sonic's new twist on its lemonade doesn't just expand its menu but helps students grow; as the company said, "each lemonade purchased helps fund local classrooms through SONIC's Limeades for Learning initiative," which helps support public education programs, schools, classrooms and teachers here in the U.S. Not only that, but the beloved drive-in is also teaming up with First Book, which provides books and other learning resources to children in need, to distribute some "100,000 books to students in need." To really drive home the initiative, Sonic has also partnered with three bestselling authors to help "bring the sips + summer reads combo to life," including Say You'll Remember Me author Abby Jimenez, Sounds Like Love writer Ashley Poston and The Paradise Problem author Christina Lauren. "This partnership isn't just about the ultimate summer sip; it's about fueling a lifelong love ofreading," Stuart Brown, executive director of the Inspire Brands Foundation, said in a statement. "SONIC donates a portion of every drink purchase back to support local schools, each Sweet Topped Lemonade helps get local students the resources they need through the SONIC Foundation's Limeades for Learning® initiative. Together with these celebrated authors, we're making it easier for students across the country to turn the page toward a brighter future." The new Sweet Topped Lemonades are currently available to order in the app, with the official nationwide rollout slated for Monday, June 2. Whataburger sued by customer alleging onions on burger caused 'allergic reaction'

Whataburger sued by customer alleging onions on burger caused 'allergic reaction' A Houston man is seeking monetary relief of more than $250,000 after suffering 'serious personal injuries,' claiming he had an 'allergic reaction' when onions were not left off the burger he ordered. Show Caption Hide Caption How to make burgers in bulk Make delicious, juicy burgers for larger crowds with this hack. Problem Solved Special orders at a fast-food restaurant do not usually come up in a lawsuit, but one Houston man has a beef with a particular burger chain. Demery Ardell Wilson is suing Whataburger after he got an "allergic reaction" due to onions being present on his burger after he requested the vegetables not be added, according to the petition obtained by USA TODAY. The incident occurred on July 24, 2024, at an unidentified Whataburger location, the court document says. Due to the allergic reaction caused by the onions, Wilson suffered "serious personal injuries," for which "he had to seek the care of medical professionals," the petition states. He is seeking monetary relief of over $250,000, but less than $1 million, the court document continues. Whataburger denied Wilson's allegations in a separate court document filed on May 16, and demanded "strict proof" of his assertations. The San Antonio, Texas-headquartered chain also claims it did not know, nor should have known, any product purchased by Wilson "was in a defective or unreasonably dangerous condition at the time." USA TODAY contacted Whataburger on May 17 but has not received a response. Wilson also sued Sonic Drive-In for adding onions to burger Whataburger is not the only fast food chain Wilson has sued over onions. He also previously filed a lawsuit against Sonic Drive-In. According to the petition, Wilson picked up a burger on April 14, 2023, from a Sonic Drive-In in Cypress, an area 24 miles northwest of downtown Houston. Like the alleged incident at Whataburger, Wilson said he requested no onions on his burger, the court document states. The onions on the burger caused Wilson to "feel sick," the petition says. This incident also left Wilson with "serious personal injuries" that caused him to seek the care of medical professionals. Sonic Drive-In denied Wilson's allegations in a court document filed on May 12, saying that he should "be required to prove the charges and allegations" against them. USA TODAY contacted Sonic Drive-In about the as-yet-unresolved suit on May 17 but has not received a response. Jonathan Limehouse covers breaking and trending news for USA TODAY. Sweet Paris Debuts in Arkansas and Missouri with Four-Unit Signed Agreement

The Four-Unit Signed Agreement Brings Two Stores to Arkansas and Two Stores to Missouri Texas-Born Entrepreneurs and Seasoned QSR Franchisees Michael and Melissa Aaron are Behind the Deal The First Store is Slated to Open in Fall 2025 at Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers, Arkansas, With a Missouri Debut Planned for 2027 ROGERS, Ark., May 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café, the ultra-popular restaurant brand serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and specializing in sweet and savory crêpes, hot drinks and more, expands its national presence entering two new states: Arkansas and Missouri. In a four-unit signed agreement, two restaurants will be opening in Arkansas metropolitan cities, and two restaurants will be opening in Kansas City, Missouri. The first restaurant is slated to open in the fall of 2025, at Pinnacle Hills Promenade located at 2203 Promenade Blvd, Space 8105, Rogers, Arkansas. Behind the deal is Texas native husband-wife duo Michael and Melissa Aaron. As multi-unit and multi-brand franchise owners, the Aarons were introduced to franchising at an early age. Michael began his career as an assistant manager at Sonic Drive-In, when he was presented with the opportunity to open a new store as a manager. Meeting Melissa at work, the two climbed the ladder to open and operate numerous Sonic Drive-In locations for over 30 years, and recently a Nothing Bundt Cakes location. It wasn't until the couple walked into a Sweet Paris that they immediately knew they wanted to form a partnership with the brand. "When we were looking to expand our portfolio, we knew we wanted a brand that we were passionate about," said Michael Aaron. "We heard about Sweet Paris and upon visiting immediately took notice of the ambiance. Once we tasted the food, we knew this was a business we wanted to be part of. Seeing how involved Ivan and Allison are, we are confident in our partnership with this brand. We are excited to lead the brand's expansion into two new states and introduce a taste of Paris to new communities." Pinnacle Hills Promenade is a luxury retail lifestyle center known as a destination shopping and dining experience in Rogers. One of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, Rogers is a musical hub, home to Walmart's home office and 30 minutes from the University of Arkansas. The vibrant atmosphere of Pinnacle Hills Promenade combined with the growing bustle of the city of Rogers makes the perfect location for Sweet Paris' debut in the state. As the Aarons continue development in their multi-unit signed agreement, they are looking to expand into Little Rock, Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri. "Breaking into Arkansas and Missouri is a key move in our strategic national expansion, and we are thrilled to have the Aarons leading the way," said Allison Chavez, co-founder of Sweet Paris. "As seasoned restaurant franchise owners, we are confident in our partnership with them and their ability to bring communities together through high-quality food. We are eager to continue to grow and strengthen our national presence, introducing more communities to our Parisian-inspired cuisine." Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café continues to expand nationwide, now boasting 20 stores in operation in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Texas and Mexico.
