LEGO Rolls Out G1 Transformers Soundwave Set In Aug

LEGO is steadily assembling its Transformers roster, adding the first Decepticon to its line-up with a G1 Transformers Soundwave set due out on 4 August, which can not only transform into a cassette player, but also comes with the character's miniature transformable companions, Ravage and Laserbeak. Marking the third Transformers build of its kind, following 2022's LEGO Optimus Prime and last year's LEGO Bumblebee, the LEGO Soundwave (set 10358) marks multiple firsts for the brand, as not only is it the first Decepticon set, it is also the first to feature companions, and the first to include voice playback, with an included 'play' button on the model's chest that recites Soundwave's iconic lines when pressed. Much like the previous two builds, the set will be targeted at adult collectors, comprising 1,505 pieces and measuring 13 inches (33cm) tall in robot mode, making it almost the same height as the LEGO Optimus Prime build. The main Soundwave figure, alongside the two companions, will all be transformable into their respective cassette player and cassette tape modes without needing to be disassembled and rebuilt. The build will also feature additional accessories like cassettes, a rocket pod, alongside a laser blaster and a dart. The aforementioned sound brick piece also recites five different catchphrases and sound effects when activated, including Soundwave's iconic lines like 'Soundwave superior' and 'Danger, Autobots detected'. As a package, the LEGO Soundwave set presents perhaps the most comprehensive package in the line-up to date, as buyers are essentially getting three Transformers figures in one. The look of the build is also bound to delight fans of the now-retro G1 robot designs, offering an almost one-to-one replica of how the character appeared in 1986's The Transformers: The Movie . The build will also feature knee articulation this time around, a feature sorely missing in the previous two sets, enabling collectors to display the figure in more dynamic poses. The LEGO Transformers Soundwave set will launch on 4 August 2025 exclusively on the LEGO Store, and will be priced at S$259.90. Lego's Transforming Soundwave Actually Makes Some Noise

Lego's returning to Cybertron for its latest big set, but with a twist: after giving us the Autobot leader Optimus Prime and one of his most loyal soldiers in Bumblebee over the past few years, now it's finally the turn of the Decepticons to get their brick-based glory. Except it's not who you might have expected to get that early honor. This morning Lego revealed that the first Decepticon joining the ranks of the Transformers line is none other than Soundwave himself. It's a surprise to not see Megatron take the mantle of the first Lego Decepticon, but it may not be too surprising given that both of his classic alt-modes, a tank and a gun, are not exactly things Lego are fond of depicting in brick form (unless it's through the sci-fi bent of something like Star Wars). Soundwave certainly does a lot to fill that illustrious bill himself, however. Clocking in at over 33 cm tall when in his robot mode, the 1,505-piece Soundwave can completely transform into his cassette tape alt-mode without need for disassembly, and even comes with an opening cassette bay to use in either mode. To fill that bay, you can use the included models of either Laserbeak or Ravage, who likewise can transform between cassette and robot modes. That's not all, though: a sound brick is built into Soundwave just behind the play button on his torso, so that when you press it, it actually plays specially recorded classic Transformers voice lines and sound effects—the first time any of the Lego Transformers sets have had this kind of electronic functionality. All that should hopefully take the sting off of anyone who was hoping for a Lego Megatron to menace their Autobots! The Lego Soundwave will be available to purchase from August 1 for members of the Lego Insiders VIP program, before going on general sale August 4. He's available to pre-order now, for a hefty $190. Lego's first buildable Decepticon Transformer is a talking Soundwave

Following buildable versions of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, Lego's latest collaboration with Hasbro is also its first Decepticon. The 1,505-piece Soundwave, which is three pieces smaller than Lego's 1,508-piece Optimus Prime, stands just shy of 13 inches tall and is Lego's first Transformers set to include a sound brick — but you may have to continue making transforming sound effects yourself. At $189.99, Soundwave will also be Lego's most expensive Transformers set to date when it goes on sale starting on August 1st for Lego Insiders (the company's free loyalty program) and August 4th for everyone else. Optimus Prime is currently $179.99, while the much smaller Bumblebee is $89.99. As with Optimus, Lego's Soundwave converts from robot mode to cassette player mode without requiring any disassembly. It's also fully posable in bot mode thanks to articulated joints and includes accessories like a rocket pod and laser blaster that transform into batteries — similar to what was included with Hasbro's original Soundwave figure in the '80s. There are two features that set this Lego model apart from its other Transformers sets. The first is the inclusion of an electronic sound brick that 'activates specially recorded voice and sound effects.' In the '80s cartoon, Soundwave's distinct monotone synthesized voice, performed by Frank Welker, helped make the character a fan favorite. The sound brick includes snippets of the cartoon's music and the character speaking. It's not Welker, but it's still fun that Lego has gone the extra mile to re-create this character's most memorable feature. The other thing that makes this set unique is that it actually includes three Transformers. In addition to Soundwave, you get buildable versions of Ravage and Laserbeak that transform into cassette tapes that can fit inside Soundwave's chest compartment. Lego also includes a display plaque showing the Decepticon's power statistics alongside a tiny model of Soundwave in cassette player mode.

I've found three beer multipacks that are perfect for summer – whether you're into juicy IPAs, session ales or classic bitters, there's something genuinely worth sipping here. With the sun finally making a proper appearance, I've been looking for some great beer bundles to stock the fridge. Whether you're sitting in the garden with friends or family, or just enjoying a quiet half hour alone in the shade, there's nothing better than cracking open something cold, crisp, and genuinely interesting. Not mass-produced lager that tastes like cardboard – I'm talking proper, well-crafted beer that's full of character. I've found three standout multipacks that absolutely fit the bill – from hoppy southern IPAs to a full-blown nationwide ale tour. Here's what's in my basket right now: Siren 'IPA For Days' Mixed Case – £31.50 (or £26.50 for new customers) Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Siren's IPA For Days bundle includes 12 cans of bold, hoppy craft beer – from tropical classics to experimental brews. | Siren Siren is one of the most respected independent breweries in the south of England, and if you've never tried their stuff, this is the perfect entry point. Their IPA For Days case includes nine different beers ranging in strength from 4.2% up to a hefty 7.2%. You'll get three cans of Lumina (a light and zesty session IPA), three of the iconic Soundwave (their flagship tropical IPA), plus one each of their more experimental brews: Juice Krush, Zipline, Sold My Soul for Nelson, Defiant Jazz (a sour IPA), Superdelic Soundwave and Sounds Like Citra. It's a brilliantly varied box and a great way to explore what is honestly a rabbit hole of a brewery – their range is deep, different, and really rewards curiosity. If you're a new customer, you can knock another fiver off too, which brings it down to just £26.50. BrewDog Big Summer Bundle – 58 cans for £60 The BrewDog Big Summer Bundle includes 58 cans spanning five styles – from fruity IPAs to crisp, easy-drinking lager. | Brewdog I had the BrewDog beer advent calendar last Christmas and loved the mix of styles and surprises it gave me. This summer bundle feels like the same spirit in a sunshine-ready format: a massive haul of 58 beers for £60, which works out at just over £1 a can. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The case includes 12 x Punk IPA, 12 x Hazy Jane (soft and fruity), 16 x Wingman (their crisp session pale), 14 x Cold Beer Lager (easy-drinking and smooth), and 4 x Orange Crush for something zesty and different. This is perfect for parties, barbecues, or just making sure you've always got something decent in the fridge. It's a limited-time deal, so if you're tempted, don't hang about. Beerhunter Best of British Ale Case – £38.95 Beerhunter's Best of British Ale Case features twelve regional brews and a proper pint glass – a flavour-packed tour of the UK. | Beerhunter This one's for the real ale lovers – a twelve-pack of traditional and modern British ales that genuinely feels like a tasting tour of the UK. From Yorkshire bitters to Cornish amber ales, it's a cracking mix of styles that showcase the best of regional brewing. You also get a proper pint glass included in the box, which adds a nice finishing touch – especially if you're planning to give it as a gift. The flavours lean more towards malt, balance and depth than full-blown hop-bombs, so it's a good counterpoint to the other two packs. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad If you've got a few days in the sun ahead, this is the kind of case that makes a perfect companion to a quiet lunch in the garden or a lazy weekend evening. There's nothing wrong with keeping it simple – but if you enjoy your beer like you enjoy your weather – crisp, interesting, and a little bit special – these three multipacks are a great way to make the most of summer.
