Olivia Rodrigo Reaches A Huge Chart Milestone For The Very First Time
Olivia Rodrigo has been teasing for weeks that she's working on new music. While there's no official timeline yet for when fans will hear from the singer-songwriter again, anticipation continues to build for any mention of a new track, or even a full-length. As fans await whatever is coming next, Rodrigo's first two full-lengths remain hugely popular throughout the United States. One of those releases, the debut that introduced her to the public, brings her to a new milestone. Thanks to the popularity of its many hit singles – as well as continued streaming of the set as a complete project – Sour achieves something Rodrigo has never managed before. Sour appears this week on the Billboard 200, where it sometimes charts along with other rankings. Currently, it only performs well enough to appear on the all-encompassing list of the most consumed full-lengths in the country, dipping three spots to No. 68. With this latest showing, the album reaches 208 weeks on the tally. Sour is Rodrigo's first project to spend four full years on the Billboard 200. None of her other efforts have been out long enough to reach such a landmark, but it may only be a matter of time before she repeats the feat. So far, Sour has spent nearly two and a half times as long on the Billboard 200 as Rodrigo's follow-up, Guts, which is still present on the list. That follow-up is now up to 88 weeks. Rodrigo has sent only one other project to the Billboard 200. In late 2023, the Guts: The Secret Tracks EP spent just one week in the absolute last spot, at No. 200, before disappearing. Speaking of Guts, Rodrigo's sophomore effort is not far behind Sour on the Billboard 200. It slides a few places to No. 82 this frame. Oddly, Guts finds space on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums rankings, while Sour does not. This week, the Grammy-nominated project slips slightly to Nos. 19 and 10, respectively, on those tallies. According to Luminate, in the latest tracking period in the U.S., Sour shifted exactly 14,500 equivalent units. Most of that figure came from streaming activity, though it also sold about 1,300 copies. Guts was not far behind, moving 13,500 equivalent units — just 1,000 fewer than its predecessor. A little more than 1,100 of those were actual sales.

Olivia Rodrigo's Albums Manage An Odd Performance On The Charts
It's been over a year and a half since Olivia Rodrigo released an album. The singer-songwriter has only dropped two projects throughout her incredibly successful career, starting with Sour and, then returning more recently, Guts, which arrived in September 2023. Since their release, both full-lengths have continued to perform incredibly well, consistently appearing on rankings dedicated to both streaming activity and sales. Due to continued consumption in both areas, the titles also regularly show up on general consumption lists. While there are some stark differences between the Grammy-nominated sets in terms of pure purchases in the United Kingdom, it seems that streaming activity around both Sour and Guts is almost identical, which is an amazing feat considering the two were released more than two years apart. This week in the U.K., Sour and Guts sit side-by-side on the Official Albums Streaming ranking. That list is dedicated solely to the full-lengths and EPs that accumulate the most plays on Spotify, Apple Music, and other similar platforms. This frame, the two titles actually swap places. Sour, the older of the two, rises from No. 25 to No. 24. At the same time, Guts dips one spot to No. 25. The fact that both efforts are still living inside the top 40 on the list of the most-streamed albums in the U.K. — one of the largest music markets in the world — is huge for her. What's even more notable is that the number of streams these collections are garnering week after week appears to be nearly identical. Last frame, they sat right next to one another on this tally. This time around, that statement still rings true, even as each moves just one spot. For every release in a musician's catalog to be generating what must be a massive number of plays on streaming platforms — especially after so much time — and for them to be competing with one another, despite one being significantly older, speaks volumes about Rodrigo's longevity and continued popularity. Her work constantly displays continued longevity, and neither set is more popular on streaming sites than the other…at least not in any meaningful way at this point in their lifespans. When it comes to sales, however, the story changes. Guts drops more than 20 spaces on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, though it's still present between Nos. 60 and 65 on those lists. Sour, by comparison, appears at least 10 spots further down — and on the Official Albums Sales list, it comes in 20 positions lower than Guts. That's not unusual, as older collections typically don't sell as well as newer ones. It's quite clear, though, that Rodrigo's fans are more than happy to continue streaming both releases almost equally.

Olivia Rodrigo's Only Two Albums Are Both Bestsellers Again
Olivia Rodrigo's Sour and Guts return to four U.K. charts each, with both albums climbing amid ... More post–Record Store Day reshuffling. NEWARK, NEW JERSEY - SEPTEMBER 12: Olivia Rodrigo performs onstage during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards at Prudential Center on September 12, 2023 in Newark, New Jersey. (Photo byfor MTV) A number of superstar musicians return to the charts in both the United Kingdom and United States this week, thanks in large part to the end of Record Store Day. The annual event sees many well-known and exciting indie acts drop special releases, prompting fans around the world to rush into local music shops to snap up limited-edition offerings. Due to their exclusivity and scarcity, many Record Store Day titles sell out immediately. As a result, they often appear on rankings for just one frame before vanishing, making room once again for regular performers. That's the case this time around, and Olivia Rodrigo emerges as one of the biggest gainers on the U.K. rankings due to this shift. Both of the young singer's full-lengths usually appear on charts in most Western markets, as they continue to perform incredibly well even years after their release. This week, Sour and Guts are both present on four different U.K. rankings. In every instance, the titles are among the bestsellers and even climb onto the most important lists. Guts is the better seller of the two, which makes sense, as it's newer. It reenters the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 38, becoming a top 40 bestseller once again on formats like CD and vinyl. It narrowly misses that same region on the Official Albums Sales tally, where it returns at No. 41. Sour isn't far behind its successor on either tally. It's back on the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 48 and rebounds to No. 54 on the Official Albums Sales list. Amazingly, Sour and Guts sit side-by-side on the other two tallies on which they appear in the U.K. Both are living inside the top 40 on the Official Albums Streaming chart and the Official Albums roster, which is the nation's general consumption list. In each case, Rodrigo's collections land one right after the other, with Guts narrowly pulling ahead by just one space. In the past, both Sour and Guts have hit No. 1 on the charts they appear on. They've become bestselling titles, incredibly strong streamers, and among the most popular albums in the country for years at a time. Sour is the longer-charting of the two, having recently passed 200 frames on multiple rosters. It hasn't yet hit that milestone on the two sales-based tallies, but it's likely to do so in the coming months. Guts hasn't yet had a chance to crack triple-digit frames on any ranking, but that's not due to a lack of interest. Considering how well it's still performing more than 80 weeks after release, it seems destined to reach that achievement once enough time has passed.

Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' And 'Guts' Albums Climb Everywhere
Olivia Rodrigo's Sour and Guts climb on four U.K. charts each this week, proving her albums remain ... More strong sellers and streamers—even without new music. NEWARK, NEW JERSEY - SEPTEMBER 12: Olivia Rodrigo attends the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards at the at Prudential Center on September 12, 2023 in Newark, New Jersey. (Photo by) It's been a minute since Olivia Rodrigo dropped new music. The Grammy winner is currently in between album cycles, with no exciting singles or upcoming releases to promote. But unlike so many of her peers, Rodrigo doesn't need to push new material to stay on the charts, especially in the United Kingdom. Both of her full-lengths are still popular sellers and streaming successes, and this week the two titles are on the rise. In just a few short years, Rodrigo has managed to accomplish what many artists spend decades chasing. She's only released two albums under her own name — Sour and Guts — and both have become staples, as neither project faded after its initial promotional run. They've continued to sell and stream exceptionally well long after the promotional cycle ended. This week, both Sour and Guts appear on four different tallies in the U.K., showing up on every major album ranking that tracks consumption, streaming, and pure sales. Not only are they still present, but in all four instances, they're also rising. On half of those lists, the sets land inside the top 40. Of the two titles, Guts stands out as the higher-performing effort this frame, which isn't entirely shocking, given that it's the newer release. The sophomore full-length rockets to No. 25 on both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts. Even on the sales-only lists, where older material often drops off faster, Guts continues to hold its own. The set lifts to No. 46 on the Official Physical Albums chart and No. 47 on the Official Albums Sales ranking. Not far behind Guts is the project that started it all. Sour, Rodrigo's debut, is also living comfortably inside the top 40 on a pair of rankings. It jumps to No. 26 on the Official Albums Streaming chart and improves to No. 28 on the Official Albums roster. At the same time, the older title pulls off a significant leap on both purchase-based charts. Sour rises more than 20 spots on the Official Physical Albums and Official Albums Sales rankings, pushing to Nos. 48 and 49, respectively. Even though Guts claims the higher peaks this frame, Sour is the winner when it comes to long-term success. The debut recently passed 200 weeks on both the Official Albums and the Official Albums Streaming charts. It's also closing in on that same milestone on the two sales-based lists. Guts, by comparison, is in a distant second place. So far, it has spent 83 frames on each of the four U.K. rankings it appears on this week, and, based on how high it currently sits, it will likely continue to add to that sum for months, and maybe years to come.

Olivia Rodrigo's Bestselling Vinyl May Surprise Her Fans
Olivia Rodrigo lands among the U.K.'s top vinyl singles of the decade with her 'Stick Season' cover, ... More while Sour and Guts rank among the top-selling vinyl albums. NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - MARCH 09: Olivia Rodrigo performs at Bridgestone Arena on March 09, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo byfor ABA) Olivia Rodrigo already has many, many hits to her name. She's only released two albums so far, but both efforts have delivered massive smashes and topped charts around the world. While her own discography is filled with wins, one of her most surprising recent successes isn't a self-written anthem, it's a cover. That reinterpretation has earned the singer a coveted spot on a special ranking, as it quickly became a massive seller when it was released. Rodrigo appears on the Official Charts Company's list of the bestselling vinyl singles in the U.K. of the last 10 years, but not with a song many of her fans would expect. She sits at No. 25 on the tally with 'Stick Season,' a cover of the same-named smash by Noah Kahan. Her rendition turned into a surprise winner, even without being a proper single. The Grammy winner shared her take on the Americana/pop cut in October 2023. She recorded the song for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, but she didn't do so in the typical studio. Instead, she performed the cut in Hollywood's Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. A video of the performance has racked up nearly 13 million views as of the time of writing, and the vinyl also sold incredibly well. Kahan's original version of 'Stick Season' is also featured on the vinyl-only roster, and it's ahead of Rodrigo's. The folk-pop hit comes in at No. 13, landing just shy of the top 10. Rodrigo doesn't manage to land any of her own compositions among the 40 bestselling vinyl singles in the U.K. from the past decade. That's a bit surprising, considering the success of tracks like 'Drivers License,' 'Good 4 U,' and 'Vampire.' The Official Charts Company also shared a rundown of the bestselling new vinyl albums of the past 10 years, and Rodrigo appears on that list twice. Her only two studio releases — Sour and Guts — sit right next to one another. Guts lands at No. 28, while Sour settles at No. 29. The retrospective rankings were published to celebrate 10 years of the Official Vinyl Singles and Albums charts in the U.K. The format, which many once assumed was dead, has not only come back, it's become a major moneymaker in the music industry. Younger fans in particular have driven the resurgence, and many of them love Rodrigo and her music.
