As it continue to recover from a significant cyber attack, the popular chain has resumed accepting online orders, much to the relief of shoppers who were unable to place orders remotely or in-store for several weeks. But other services as part of the Sparks rewards scheme continue to be affected. Those signed up to the programme can get a range of rewards including personalised offers. ‌ You can even get a special birthday gift from M&S if you add your date of birth to your Sparks profile, but this offer is suspended for the time being. One worried member of the Sparks programme contacted M&S via social media, distressed that online ordering resumed the day after they turned 40, raising concerns about missing out on their birthday perk. ‌ M&S assured the customer with this reply: "We're working hard to resume normal Sparks services. Once Sparks is back up and running we'll be in touch about your Delivery Pass. "Also, customers who are eligible for a Birthday Treat in June will receive this at a later date once the system is fully restored. Thank you for your patience and continued support, we are incredibly grateful." To mark your special day, the Sparks Birthday Treat offers a complimentary gift from M&S, which could be anything from clothing and beauty products to homeware or a tasty treat like prosecco or biscuits. The range of gifts is determined by M&S, as clarified on their website: "M&S reserves the right to amend the list of birthday treats from time to time." Article continues below The guidance further explains: "The birthday treat that a customer receives is final and M&S shall not be liable should the birthday treat not be suitable to a customer." To ensure you're included in this offer, log in to your Sparks account, go to 'My Account' and click on 'Personal details', under 'PROFILE'. You can also add your date of birth through the M&S app, following the same process. But be aware, if you register your date of birth within 35 days of your birthday, you may not receive your treat until the next year. In a statement about the return of the online order services, John Lyttle, M&S managing director of clothing, home and beauty said on Tuesday (June 10): "We are bringing back online shopping this week. Article continues below "A selection of our best-selling fashion ranges will be available for home delivery to England, Scotland and Wales. More of our fashion, home and beauty products will be added every day, and we will resume deliveries to Northern Ireland and Click and Collect in the coming weeks. "Thank you sincerely for your support and for shopping with us." Shoppers have been warned to stay alert for scams as some customer details were compromised in the cyber attack. This included personal information such as email addresses and order histories.

The M&S Sparks scheme offers loyal customers a range of rewards including personalised offers and discounts, and if you include your date of birth on your Sparks profile, you can even get a special birthday gift from the retailer. One concerned Sparks member contacted M&S over social media frustrated that the online orders had resumed the day after their 40th birthday, and so they were worried they would miss out on their treat. ‌ In response, M&S said: "We're working hard to resume normal Sparks services. Also, customers who are eligible for a Birthday Treat in June will receive this at a later date once the system is fully restored. Unfortunately, there is little leeway about what gift you get. The M&S website explains: "M&S reserves the right to amend the list of birthday treats from time to time. "The birthday treat that a customer receives is final and M&S shall not be liable should the birthday treat not be suitable to a customer." To add your date of birth, you need to log into your Sparks account and click on 'Go to your account' and then click on 'Personal details', under 'PROFILE'. If you want to add your date of birth via the M&S app, you need to log into your Sparks account, go to 'My Account' and click on 'Personal details', also under the 'Profile' section. If you add your date of birthday within 35 days of your birthday, you may not get the treat until the following year.
