Construction of new block, amenities at SK Kunak Jaya on track, will benefit 500 pupils, says Ahmad Maslan
KOTA KINABALU: The construction of a new classroom block and other amenities at SK Kunak Jaya is expected to benefit 500 pupils once works are completed.
From a site visit by the Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan on Wednesday (July 16), it was found that physical construction works have gone up by 18%, with completion expected by November next year.
The ministry issued a statement stating that this new block will house 12 classrooms, while another block will house the administrative office, science room, computer lab, surau, canteen and even disabled-friendly amenities as well as other supporting infrastructure.
Started on Jun 11, 2024, this project worth RM24.9mil is handled by the federal Works Ministry as the implementing agency, with strict monitoring by the Special Projects 2 Team, under JKR Malaysia, it said.
Among the monitored scopes would include project progress, cost and quality specifications, it added.
This project is important to cater to the growing number of students enrolling into the school as well and to provide a conducive study and work environment for students and teachers alike.
