The Snack Wrap is back at McDonald's: What to know, when you can order it

The wait is over. After months of teasing from McDonald's, the day has arrived for the Snack Wrap to return. Customers can order the much-anticipated menu item starting Thursday, July 10. The item is available in two flavors: Spicy: The Spicy Snack Wrap brings the heat with a habanero kick that fans know and love from the Spicy McCrispy sandwich. Ranch: The Ranch Snack Wrap delivers a satisfying burst of cool ranch goodness, with hints of garlic and onion. The Snack Wrap is available a la carte or as a combo meal, which includes two Snack Wraps, a medium fry and a drink of choice. The item costs $2.99 a la carte. Customers can order the Snack Wrap after breakfast hours. Breakfast hours differ by McDonald's location, although most locations typically stop serving breakfast at 10:30 or 11 a.m. local time. Spicy McMuffins: McDonald's new spicy breakfast items are here: How long they're available The Snack Wrap first hit the McDonald's menu in 2006. Over the next decade, it appeared on the menu in several different iterations, according to the Food Network, but with the same main ingredients of chicken breast meat (grilled or crispy), lettuce, cheese and sauce in a soft flour tortilla. According to McDonald's, the Snack Wrap was phased out nationally in 2016, but it "never left fans' hearts." "From countless social media posts to full-fledged petitions, they never gave up on their favorite menu item. They're the ones who inspired us to make its return to the menu happen," McDonald's said. The Snack Wrap features one of McDonald's new McCrispy Strips, topped with shredded lettuce and shredded cheese and wrapped in a soft flour tortilla, according to the chain. In addition to the Snack Wrap, McDonald's has unveiled a series of new options to "spice up" its breakfast menu as part of the chain's 50th anniversary celebrations for the McMuffin. The three new spicy breakfast menu items include the Spicy McMuffin, Spicy Sausage McMuffin and Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg. The items feature the traditional ingredients of cheese, egg, Canadian bacon or sausage and a buttered English muffin, but are topped with a new Spicy Pepper Sauce, according to McDonald's. The new breakfast items dropped in stores on 8 and will be around for a limited time at participating locations, according to the fast food chain. McDonald's launched the Egg McMuffin in 1975. The breakfast item was the brainchild of Herb Peterson, a McDonald's franchisee in Santa Barbara, California. McDonald's Is Turning The Heat Up On Its Breakfast Menu With A New Twist On McMuffins

It's not often McDonald's releases a new variation on its famous breakfast sandwiches, but starting July 8 you'll be able to order two of its McMuffin sandwiches with some spice. That's right, the burger joint is releasing a spicy version of the Egg McMuffin and the Sausage McMuffin (including the one with egg) for a limited time only. That spice will come in the form of McDonald's Spicy Pepper Sauce which already graces the daytime menu on the Spicy McCrispy sandwich. The Spicy Pepper Sauce is a mayo-based one which gets its kick from habanero peppers, so it really does pack a punch. I recently ordered a side of it just to try it and was pleasantly surprised that it does have some burn. During our initial review of McDonald's McCrispy chicken sandwiches, our taste tester wrote that the sauce wasn't just spicy by name. They wrote, "Most fast food restaurants serve a PG-rated version of spicy, but McDonald's dares to be bold and is pushing PG-13 levels of burn." Read more: Fast Food Egg Sandwiches, Ranked Worst To Best McDonald's has been working the spicy angle for years now, with releases like Spicy McNuggets and limited time sauces like Nether Flame sauce, which was genuinely spicy for a fast food product. It might be an easy twist on existing menu items, but spicy does sell when it comes to fast food, so this limited-time-only option of McDonald's classic breakfast sandwiches does make a whole lot of sense in the scheme of things. McMuffins don't come with any condiments by default, so maybe the mayo boost will make a positive difference (or a potential messy eating experience). Either way, McDonald's breakfast menu doesn't typically get much of a glow-up. In fact, it got a bit of a glow-down with its recent breakup with Krispy Kreme. That little bit of extra fire on a classic McMuffin does sound like a welcome distraction. I wonder what Herb Peterson, the original inventor of the Egg McMuffin, would think about the idea of a spicy version of his revolutionary fast food breakfast sandwich. I have a feeling he'd just be glad we're still enjoying versions of it today, whether it be a classic or spicy one. For more food and drink goodness, join The Takeout's newsletter. Gird your loins, McDonald's fans: the Snack Wrap is back this summer

McDonald's fans have been very busy in the past ten years—ever since the beloved Snack Wrap was discontinued in 2016, diners have been asking the world-famous fast-food chain to bring back the treat. McD's devotees have desperately taken to social media and even created a petition that garnered almost 19,000 signatures in an effort to see the wrap on the menu again. And now those Snack Wrap dreams are coming true: the fan-favorite menu item is officially returning to participating McDonald's restaurants on Thursday, July 10. For those who aren't familiar, the Snack Wrap is a soft flour tortilla holding McCrispy strips—all-white-meat chicken strips that are breaded and fried—topped with lettuce, a mix of cheddar jack and Monterey Jack cheeses and your choice of sauce (ranch, honey mustard or salsa roja). The roll-up comes in two flavors: The spicy version has a touch of habanero pepper, a flavor aficionados might recognize from the Spicy McCrispy sandwich already on the menu, while the ranch option has those classic hints of garlic and onion. The Snack Wrap was phased out nationally in 2016, and now as we hit summer 2025 and its blistering temperatures, we have a chance to eat the chain's sole menu item that isn't hot (other than the desserts and beverages). It's a healthier option than many on the menu, coming in at less than 300 calories. And, as folks who created the petition point out, it's the perfect snack for a road trip because you can hold it in one hand and drive with the other.

McDonald's Snack Wrap is officially returning. Here's when.

Snacktime is nigh at the Golden Arches. On June 3, McDonald's announced exactly when the Snack Wrap will return to partipating restaurants nationwide: July 10. And, thankfully, it's not a limited-time offer, either — it's here for good. The Snack Wrap, which has been off menus for almost a decade, features one of the chain's new McCrispy Strips — a chicken strip made with all-white meat — and is topped with shredded lettuce and shredded cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla. This go-round, the Snack Wrap comes in two flavors: Spicy, which McDonald's says 'brings the heat with a habanero kick' reminiscent of its Spicy McCrispy sandwich; and Ranch, which 'delivers a satisfying burst of cool ranch goodness,' according to the brand, along with hints of garlic and onion. Customers can get the Snack Wrap on its own or as a combo meal, which will come with two wraps, a medium fries and your drink of choice. It's been a long journey for Mickey D's devotees: On Dec. 5, Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA, first revealed that the Snack Wrap was on its way back while discussing the new McValue menu. 'The Snack Wrap will be back in 2025,' Erlinger said at the time, declining to reveal the exact date. 'It has a cult following, I get so many emails into my inbox about this product.' Then, on April 15, the chain teased the official release date: 'snack wraps 0x.14.2025,' it posted on X, without specifying the month. Now, for the official rollout, McDonald's is leaning into the fact that for years, fans have inundated the chain with pleas to reinstate the item after it was kicked off menus in 2016. A petition started in 2021 in its honor garnered over 17,000 signatures, and fans resorted to posting TikToks and making dedicated Instagram accounts devoted to bringing it back. While the chicken-craving masses waited for the Snack Wrap's return, other fast-food chains have dropped their own versions: In March 2023, Wendy's introduced its Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap; in July 2023, Taco Bell reintroduced its Crispy Chicken Taco for a limited time; and in August 2023, Burger King launched BK Royal Crispy Wraps for a limited time, too.
