Kieran Tierney gives Celtic fans a 'definite' promise as emotional star vows 'I'm here for the rest of my career'
Tierney is happy to commit the rest of his career to the club where it all started Kieran Tierney says he has no intention to leave Celtic again – telling fans 'I see myself being here for the rest of my career. ' The returning hero is back into the swing of things as Brendan Rodgers ' team ramp up pre-season and he was back to something approaching his best against Sporting CP on Wednesday night. His return comes six years on from his £25m move to Arsenal, where injuries prevented him really kicking on and realising his potential down south. But now Tierney is back where it started, he's hoping to make up for the time lost to bad luck on the injury front. He's signed a long-term deal which runs until at least 2030 with the option to extend beyond that. That would take him beyond his 33rd birthday and cement his status among the club's all-time greats. So does he plan on seeing that contract out? Yes... and then some. He was asked about his long-term future at a fan media press conference and told CeltsAreHere: 'You don't come back to your home at 28 and think about going somewhere else again. Obviously in football, you never know — I learned that the first time around. 'I grew up never thinking I'd leave Celtic. But things happen. For me, I've signed a long-term deal, so I definitely see myself being here for the rest of my career. 'To be successful here is to keep Celtic at the top. That's the ambition — plain and simple. Keep Celtic at the top, that's what matters most to me. 'I don't know if I had solid plans. Like I said, in football anything can happen. But you're always thinking, 'Can it happen?' or 'When's the right time?' This time just felt perfect.' Celtic keeper Kasper Schmeichel delivers retirement verdict
The Dane, in the final year of his contract, intends to keep playing as long as his passion for the game remains. After battling injuries towards the end of last season, Schmeichel started Celtic's recent friendly against Sporting CP. The veteran goalkeeper rejected any notion that he has fulfilled all his ambitions in football. "I haven't done everything," Schmeichel said [SunSport]. Read more: "There's a lot still to accomplish. "I'm just loving playing football. "I'm living what I always dreamed of doing since I was a kid. "If I can't enjoy this, then what can I enjoy?" Schmeichel appreciates his position in the world of football, acknowledging the sacrifices he made to reach this point. "I cherish every single day that I get to go on the pitch, and jump on the grass and catch balls and dive around like a lunatic. "It's a good life." His love for the sport is matched by his commitment to maintaining the winning culture at Celtic. He said: "I also love being part of a club where the culture is so driven by winning all the time. "That really motivates me every single day to get up to it, to make sure we uphold those standards and strive for more. "As long as I'm enjoying that and as long as that hunger or desire is there, then I'll keep on playing." Despite his enthusiasm, Schmeichel is aware of the unpredictable nature of a football career, particularly at his stage. He said: "At this stage of my career, nothing's ever guaranteed. "It never is at any point, but one injury can end your career at this stage." However, he remains focused on contributing to a successful team. He added: "So it's all about being here, contributing, enjoying every single minute. "The only way I do that is by being part of a winning team."

Celtic keeper Schmeichel makes confession over retirement
The Dane is entering the final year of his contract with the Parkhead club. Schmeichel struggled with injury towards the end of last season but started his side's most recent friendly with Sporting CP. Speaking after the match, the 38-year-old blew away any suggestions that he has nothing else left to achieve in the game: "That's not my mindset — I haven't done everything," quipped Schmeichel [SunSport]. "There's a lot still to accomplish. Read more: "In all honesty, I never think differently to that. I've never been the type of guy to think in restrictions or limitations. "At the moment, I'm just loving playing football. I'm living what I always dreamed of doing since I was a kid. "If I can't enjoy this, then what can I enjoy? "It's wrong to say I feel privileged to do this job because I sacrificed a lot to get here. But a lot of people in the world would do anything to be in the position that I'm in. "It would be a waste for me not to enjoy it. When you get to a certain part of your career, you know that you haven't got forever, so you enjoy it even more. "I cherish every single day that I get to go on the pitch, and jump on the grass and catch balls and dive around like a lunatic. It's a good life! I also love being part of a club where the culture is so driven by winning all the time. "That really motivates me every single day to get up to it, to make sure we uphold those standards and strive for more. As long as I'm enjoying that and as long as that hunger or desire is there, then I'll keep on playing. "But I'm not the type of person to say that I'm going to do this or going to do that. I take everything as it comes. At this stage of my career, nothing's ever guaranteed. It never is at any point, but one injury can end your career at this stage. "So it's all about being here, contributing, enjoying every single minute. The only way I do that is by being part of a winning team."
