If you're looking for furniture and home goods but don't want to break the bank, check out Diversion's warehouse sale this weekend. Why it matters: You'll be supporting a good cause. How it works: Diversion is a nonprofit that collects high-quality furniture from partnering designers and individuals and uses the items to help those who have recently secured housing furnish their new home. Eligible individuals are allowed to shop the warehouse and pick whatever items they need at no cost. According to Diversion's website, the organization has helped more than 1,300 people. Where the public comes in: Once a month, Diversion opens its warehouse to the public with pieces priced at significant discounts to make space for future items and raise money. 💭 Lindsey's thought bubble: I went to the March sale and was impressed with the selection. Higher temperatures expected following weak storm system this weekend

SALT LAKE CITY () – Happy Thursday, Utah! The Spring Equinox occurred at 3:01 a.m. Thursday morning around Utah. We kicked the day off with lots of cloud cover and chilly temps, but a good bit warmer than where we began on our Wednesday morning. A weak storm system is grazing us to the north bringing the extra clouds and a few isolated mountain snow showers. We could see an isolated flurry or sprinkle pass through the valleys this afternoon, but most of us will likely remain on the dry side. High pressure briefly builds back in over the state Friday, but clouds will be increasing throughout the day. Our next weather maker arrives Friday night into Saturday bringing another round of precipitation for the northern half of Utah. Based on the latest thermal profile, it's looking like this will be a valley rain event and mountain snow event. Looks like between a .10″ -0.25 of liquid precipitation possible with this system for the valleys, with about 2-6″ of snow for the higher terrain. Overall, these storms will not pack the punch of our past few juicy storm systems. After Saturday, we will dry out for our Sunday with the return of the sunshine. The sunshine really expands across the area next week. A strong ridge of high pressure builds in allowing for sinking air, and things to heat up in a big way. Southern Utah could be in the mid to upper 80s by the middle of next week, with low to mid-70s likely along the Wasatch Front. We'll keep you posted on the latest information in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Rise in Dengue Fever cases prompts health alert for popular spring break spots

As spring breakers flock to warmer travel destinations in March and April, the number of mosquitoes and the potentially deadly diseases they carry increase. According to the Centers for Disease Control, some countries are higher-than-usual cases of Dengue Fever this spring, and the CDC has found a higher-than-expected number of instances in U.s. travelers returning from these counties, prompting a level 1 health alert. The map below shows countries around the world reporting higher-than-usual cases. The CDC said travelers to these destinations may be at increased risk of dengue infection. Mexico, Central and South America, and some Caribbean islands are reporting higher-than-average cases. Spring break destinations on the U.S. mainland and territories are also not risk-free. Local health officials have declared dengue outbreaks in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and local transmission was reported in 2024 in California, Florida and Texas. Spring Equinox Myth Busted: You Can Stand An Egg On Its End Today – And Any Other Day The CDC said that last year, a "record number of dengue cases" (3,483 cases) were identified in U.S. travelers, an 84% increase compared to 2023. "This trend is expected to continue with increased dengue activity in endemic areas in 2025," the CDC said. The Dengue virus is spread through mosquito bites and symptoms usually appear within two weeks after the infecting bite, according to the CDC. The best way to prevent dengue is to avoid mosquito bites by wearing Environmental Protection Agency-registered insect repellents and limiting mosquitoes indoors and outdoors. Parents should also dress their children and babies in clothing that covers their arms and legs and use mosquito nets for strollers and baby carriers. Most people recover about a week after their first symptoms, including body aches, joint pain, nausea, vomiting, rash, and fever. In severe cases, dengue can cause internal bleeding and be fatal. One in 20 people infected with dengue will become critically ill. Mexico Unveils Plan To Tackle Caribbean Seaweed Invasion At Popular Beaches Any bleeding from the nose and gums, or within the vomit or stool, should be considered a sign of severe dengue, and a visit to the local emergency room is recommended. Learn How to Harness the Energy of the Upcoming Spring Equinox

As winter fades and the warmth of spring begins to awaken the earth, the Spring Equinox marks a powerful time for renewal, balance, and growth. This celestial event, occurring around March 19-21, is when day and night are equal in length, symbolizing harmony and the transition into longer, brighter days. Many cultures and spiritual traditions celebrate this time as a period of rebirth, making it an ideal moment to cleanse your energy, set intentions, and realign with nature. The Spring Equinox is significant because it represents a cosmic reset—a time when the earth's energy is shifting from dormancy to action. Just as plants begin to bloom, we, too, can harness this season of renewal to refresh our minds, bodies, and spirits. The equinox's balance of light and dark is a reminder to bring harmony into our own lives, making it an ideal period for manifestation, spiritual cleansing, and energy work. Spring Equinox is all about new beginnings, and there's no better way to embrace this energy than by greeting the sunrise. Find a peaceful outdoor space, or sit near a window where you can watch the sun rise. Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and meditate on your intentions for the coming months. Visualize what you want to manifest. Write down three goals that align with your personal growth. Say affirmations like, "I welcome new beginnings with an open heart." This practice helps attune your energy to the fresh start that spring brings. Spring is a time of fertility and growth, making planting a ritual a perfect way to honor the season. Whether you plant flowers, herbs, or vegetables, this act symbolizes setting intentions and watching them flourish. Choose plants that resonate with your goals (e.g., lavender for peace, basil for prosperity). As you place seeds in the soil, whisper affirmations about what you want to grow in your life. Water your plants regularly as a reminder to nurture your own dreams and goals. Clearing out physical and energetic clutter is a key ritual for the equinox. Since this is a season of renewal, take time to declutter your home, organize your workspace, and cleanse your living space with sage, palo santo, or essential oils. Open windows to let fresh air in. Wipe down surfaces with a mix of lemon and rosemary essential oil (both linked to clarity and purification). Smudge with sage or burn incense to clear negative energy. As you clean, visualize releasing stagnant energy and making space for fresh opportunities. Since the Spring Equinox represents the balance of light and dark, a balancing ritual can help bring harmony into your life. This can be done through: Yin-Yang Meditation: Sit in a quiet place and meditate on what areas of your life need more balance. Journaling Exercise: Divide a page into two sections—one side for what you need to release, and the other for what you want to embrace. Physical Balance Practice: Try yoga poses like Tree Pose or Warrior III to physically embody balance. Fire represents transformation and renewal, making it a powerful element to work with during the equinox. A simple fire ritual can help you release the past and embrace new opportunities. Write down limiting beliefs or negative patterns on a piece of paper. Safely burn the paper in a fireproof container or outdoor fire pit. As the flames consume your words, visualize yourself letting go and stepping into new possibilities. This ritual helps clear emotional blocks and recharges your energy for the season ahead. What exactly happens during the Spring Equinox? The Spring Equinox occurs when the sun is directly over the equator, making day and night nearly equal in length. This astronomical event marks the official start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. How does the Spring Equinox affect energy levels? As daylight increases, many people feel an energy boost, making it an ideal time for goal setting and renewal. The equinox's balancing energy can also help with emotional and mental clarity. What spiritual traditions celebrate the Spring Equinox?Various cultures and spiritual paths honor the equinox, including: Pagan and Wiccan traditions (Ostara, celebrating fertility and renewal) Ancient Egyptian and Mayan cultures (aligning temples with the equinox) Japanese Shunbun no Hi (a day of balance and honoring nature) How can I prepare for the Spring Equinox? To prepare, focus on cleansing, reflecting, and setting intentions. Engage in grounding activities like meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature to align yourself with the seasonal shift. The Spring Equinox is a sacred time to refresh your mind, body, and soul. Whether you're looking to set new goals, recharge your energy, or simply embrace the beauty of spring, these rituals will help you step into the season with clarity, balance, and positivity.
