Yashvir and Usha Sunak, parents of former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, paid a quiet visit to Karnataka's Mysuru on Monday on a personal trip, stopping by the Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Krishnamurthypuram. They were joined by Infosys founder and father-in-law of Rishi Sunak, N R Narayana Murthy, during their temple visit. Yashvir and Usha Sunak, parents of ex-UK PM Rishi Sunak in Mysuru on Monday. According to Srinath S, who handles operations at the temple, the visit was casual. The family also took part in the temple's rathothsava (chariot-pulling ceremony) and concluded their visit with a traditional temple lunch before departing. He added that they had earlier visited the renowned Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Mantralaya. A video of their visit to the temple is making rounds on social media. He was accompanied by his wife, Akshata Murty, as well as her parents, NR Narayana Murthy and author-philanthropist Sudha Murthy. Their visit coincided with the holy month of Kartika, considered highly auspicious in the Hindu calendar. Seeking the blessings of Guru Raghavendra Swamy, the family offered prayers and took part in the temple's rituals during their visit.

Mantralaya temple hundi gets Rs 5.3cr

Raichur: Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt at Mantralaya in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh got hundi collection of Rs 5.3 crore over 35 days. This marks the first instance of receiving such a significant amount in hundi income for a short duration, temple sources said. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The donations over the period from May 23 to Tuesday included Rs 5,13,04,958 in cash, Rs 15,34,580 in coins, 43 grams of gold, and 1,837 grams of silver. The hundi collection saw an increase following the expansion of the mutt's charitable activities. Recently, it contributed Rs 25 lakh to support the armed forces and their soldiers. Additionally, the mutt provided Rs 1 lakh each to the families of residents from Karnataka who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. Last year, the mutt also donated Rs 50 lakh towards the construction of Amaravati.
