Jersey moonlight walk to remember lost loved ones
People are set to take part in a Jersey walking event to remember loved ones they have Hospice Care has organised the Moonlight Walk with two circular routes - a 5km (3.1 miles) Half Moon Walk or a 10km (6.2 miles) Full Moon Walk - starting at St Brelade's Parish Hall at 21:00 said more than 300 people had signed up and they expected a few more to attend on the Brockbank, community engagement officer for Jersey Hospice Care, said the event could be "truly heart-warming". Ms Brockbank said: "Whether you're walking to celebrate the lives of those no longer with us, make new memories, or perhaps a bit of both - it's about coming together as a community to show how much we value our hospice's work."The charity said marshals and water stops would be positioned along the routes and entrants would get a cup of tea and some cake when they cost £31.50 for a family of two adults and two children or £10.50 for people aged 16 or over and £5.25 for under 16s, who must be accompanied by an adult, the charity said.

Removal of central road line on Jersey road aims to cut speeds
A parish constable has backed efforts to slow down drivers by removing the centre white line on a Jersey Government of Jersey said it removed the white line on Route de Noirmont, St Brelade, as part of a six-month trial to see if it encouraged road users to reduce their speed. Constable Mike Jackson said the majority of parishioners he had spoken to had backed the for Infrastructure Constable Andy Jehan said the trial was aimed at reducing accidents. He said there had been "quite a lot of support" for not reinstating the markings once the trial had finished once the trial has finished. "I've had some feedback from one or two residents who are concerned that the white line isn't there and that a danger is being created but others are very supportive of the issue and getting used to it," he said. However, Jean Baird, who lives on Route de Noirmont, raised concerns about the removal of the line."They go along the middle of the road faster and we have great difficulty trying to ease out of our entrance," she said."They think they can go down the middle of the road and just bomb down there."There's been quite a few near misses and I can just see an accident waiting to happen." 'Far too many accidents' Jehan said the white line had been removed from a road in St John and it had it was showing success in reducing speeds and accidents."We are doing it for a reason, we want to reduce the amount of collisions on the island and this is part of that process," he said."We would urge anybody using the road whether they're driving cycling or walking to pay attention because we have far too many accidents in Jersey."We're monitoring the speed periodically and are hopeful that the speed is going to reduce."

Jersey children to take part in mini triathlon
Children in Jersey will take part in a children's triathlon this weekend to raise money for blood Jersey Kids' Triathlon will take place at the Les Quennevais Sports Centre in St Brelade with children running, cycling and swimming over a short race, which is open to six to 13 year-olds, will be a "fun sporting event" with "no winners and losers - only achievers," organisers said everybody taking part would get "a complimentary event t-shirt, medal and goody bag full of surprises". Children in the youngest age group - Years 2 and 3 - will swim 25m (27 yards), cycle 1.5km (0.93 miles) and run 600m (656 yards).Those in the oldest age group - Years 6 to 8 - will swim 100m (109 yards), cycle 4.5km (2.8 miles) and run 1200m (1313 yards).The event is raising money for the Jersey branch of Blood Cancer UK.

Firefighters save seven ducklings from pool and drains in Jersey
Firefighters in Jersey have helped reunite a mother duck with her seven ducklings after a call from the had fallen into a swimming pool in St Brelade and could not get out, while the other three were stuck in a rescue team, who were "armed with nets, gentle hands and a solid sense of teamwork", managed to save the ducklings - which were Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said the mother duck kept her distance from the firefighters but "remained close by" and refused "to be rescued first". Watch Commander Ryan said it was a reminder of why crews loved their said: "It might not have been flames or ladders today - but it was no less important. "We're just happy to help, whatever the call may be."The service helped save a dog trapped on a cliff in April and a herd of cows from the sea in January.
