Glasgow shopping centre donates to help Scotland's Homeless World Cup team
A Glasgow shopping centre has made a generous donation to support Scotland's team at the Homeless World Cup. The St Enoch Centre has contributed £2,000 to help the players heading to Oslo for the 20th edition of the annual football tournament, which aims to end homelessness. More than 70 organisations from around the world will participate in the week-long event, which is a celebration of efforts to inspire and empower marginalised individuals through football. Street Soccer Scotland (Image: Supplied) The team representing Scotland is from Street Soccer Scotland, St Enoch Centre's charity partner. The non-profit organisation offers free weekly football programmes and football-themed education to vulnerable adults and young people, with the aim of reducing isolation, building community, and creating life-changing opportunities. Read more: Cops to be moved from station after 'series of health and safety issues' The £2,000 contribution from St Enoch Centre, which was made up of customer donations, internal fundraising initiatives, and an additional donation from the centre itself, will be used to cover the cost of flights, accommodation, and kit for the Scottish players. This will ensure the players are ready for the tournament. (Image: Supplied) Shaun Rhodes, head of marketing at St Enoch Centre, said: "It has been a privilege working with Street Soccer Scotland and getting to know the team as they prepare for the Homeless World Cup. "Homelessness is a very real issue here in Glasgow, and Street Soccer Scotland's efforts to support those most disadvantaged have a life-changing impact. "We are now pleased to offer our support ahead of the team's trip to Oslo as they set out to represent Scotland on a global stage. "We wish them all the best and will be cheering for the team right here in the Centre – Go team Scotland." David Duke MBE, founder and CEO of Street Soccer Scotland, said: "All players of the Homeless World Cup have experienced homelessness or social isolation at some point in their lives. "Representing Scotland at the tournament is a major achievement and a testament to how far they have come in terms of improved wellbeing, health, self-esteem and confidence. "The donation from St Enoch Centre will make a huge difference to our team." "As all our programmes are completely free, we rely heavily on fundraising to cover essentials like travel, accommodation and kit. "This generous contribution eases fundraising pressures, allowing us to focus on what truly matters – supporting our players and helping them get match-ready. "Let's hope Team Scotland come home with a trophy this year."

Glasgow shopping centre giving away £850 worth of vouchers
St Enoch Centre is offering the voucher giveaway to spend in the mall as part of the Glasgow850 celebrations, marking 850 years since the city became a burgh. To enter, shoppers must complete a form on the St Enoch Centre website at Entries close on August 14, and the winner will be announced on August 15. Shaun Rhodes, head of marketing at St Enoch Centre, said: "We wanted to do something really special to mark Glasgow850, and what better way than to reward our loyal customers with the chance to win £850 of vouchers from their favourite St. Enoch Centre brands. "This competition is a chance to celebrate Glasgow's 850-year legacy, and encourages people to get involved in the various initiatives being held in the city for the Glasgow850 campaign." The winner will be able to spend the vouchers at a range of top retailers and restaurants, including Pandora, Next, and Uniqlo. The prize also covers leisure venues within the centre, such as Boom Battle Bar, VUE Cinema, and Escape Hunt. Mr Rhodes said: "This is the biggest giveaway St. Enoch Centre has ever held, with £850 in vouchers up for grabs. "We're encouraging everyone who can to enter – you never know, it may be your lucky day." The prize breakdown includes £100 each for Level X, Boom Battle Bar, Escape Hunt, Pandora, and Uniqlo; £150 for the centre; £50 for Vue; and £50 each for Wagamama, Namaste, and Nando's.

St Enoch Centre staff raise funds for Street Soccer Scotland
St Enoch Centre employees took part in the Kiltwalk challenge to raise funds for Street Soccer Scotland, a social enterprise that delivers football-inspired training programmes to socially disadvantaged groups in Scotland. The team, made up of office personnel, security staff, and more, walked 23 miles from Glasgow Green to Balloch in support of the charity. Read more: Glasgow ranked as second most generous city in UK Vicky Colquhoun, St Enoch Centre office manager, who participated in the event, said: "We were proud to take part in this year's Mighty Stride to fundraise for our charity partner of the year, Street Soccer Scotland. "The Kiltwalk is one of Glasgow's most iconic events, and it was inspiring to walk alongside so many others taking on the challenge in support of their charity of choice." The team have created an online fundraising page, which is still available to donate to at (Image: Supplied) The St Enoch Centre is also expected to host a pop-up shop for Street Soccer Scotland later in the year. The shop will sell pre-loved football shirts and sports kit to raise money for the organisation's social programmes. 'Street festival' will be held at Glasgow's St Enoch Centre
The St Enoch Centre Street Festival will take place on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, between 10am and 4pm. As part of the event, visitors will be able to shop from the 'finest food traders, impressive independent makers and designers, and remarkable local businesses'.
