PSG's symbolic victory: Winning over French hearts
Usually, Vincent Simonneaux only talks about Stade Rennais – nothing else. In Rennes, the 62-year-old is known as the outspoken host of "Pleine lucarne," a weekly show on local TV station TVR that covers everything about the local football team. But on a Monday in late May, before taping the show, the journalist pulled a chair into a corner of the studio and agreed to discuss Paris Saint-Germain, which is set to play in the Champions League final against Inter Milan on Saturday, May 31, in Munich, Germany. "Before, I never watched PSG's European matches. I couldn't care less. But this year, something is happening. The way people look at this PSG, which actually plays good football, has changed. There's more tolerance now, even a sort of goodwill," analyzed Simonneaux. So, on Saturday night, the Rennes native will be in front of his television to watch the Parisian team coached by Luis Enrique. Of course, the surge of emotion from a PSG goal will never match the thrill of seeing his own team score, even in the most ordinary match. Still, Simonneaux wants to see the Parisians overcome the Milanese.

Rennes look to offload 19 players
It will be a summer of great change at Stade Rennais, with the club looking to offload 19 players, according to a report from Foot Mercato. Rennes spent big last summer and during the January transfer window, however, few of their purchases paid dividends. Frédéric Massara, the club's sporting director, paid the price. After just one season in the post, he left earlier this month, replaced by Loïc Désire, who arrived from RC Strasbourg Alsace. Advertisement Dealing with a bloated squad, SRFC are looking to offload several elements, 19 to be precise. The club have given mandates to several agents in order to get as many players as possible off the books. Arnaud Kalimuendo, a reported target for Newcastle United, is expected to leave, whilst Adrien Truffert and Lorenz Assignon are also tipped for departures. Returning loanees such as Baptiste Santamaria, Albert Gronbaek, Leo Ostigard, etc. will not be conserved by Rennes, whilst Bournemouth-linked Kyogo Furuhashi is expected to also depart. Rennes interested in Auxerre's Gaëtan Perrin
It is set to be a summer of great change at Stade Rennais. There has already been a change in the hierarchy with Loïc Désiré coming in to replace Frédéric Massara as the club's sporting director and there will be plenty of changes in the playing staff, too. Getting players off the books will be a priority for Rennes. The Breton club recruited substantially in the past two transfer windows, however, very few of those signings paid off. Offloading the majority of them is therefore on Désiré's to-do list. However, he will also be working on incomings. Advertisement One of the names on his list is AJ Auxerre's Gaëtan Perrin (28), according to a report from Ouest-France. The right-winger was exceptional for L'AJA last season, scoring 10 goals and registering 11 assists in 35 games in Ligue 1. Having impressed, it is expected that Perrin will leave Auxerre this summer. Rennes would be more than willing to welcome him. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Rennes resigned to losing captain Adrien Truffert
Stade Rennais look resigned to losing their captain, Adrien Truffert (23), during the summer transfer window, according to a report from L'Équipe. France international Truffert has once again played a central role for Rennes this season in what has been a disappointing campaign. The Breton club went through three managers over the course of the campaign on their way to a mid-table finish. There will therefore be something of a revolution at the club over the summer. It has already started, in fact, with Loïc Désiré coming in to replace Frédéric Massara in the sporting director role. Advertisement There will also be an overhaul in the playing squad. Truffert, as club captain, is naturally a player that Rennes would like to retain, however, with the full-back's contract up at the end of next season, they don't look capable of retaining him. The defender was linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, whilst AS Monaco have previously been cited as a suitor. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Jérémy Jacquet close to contract extension at Rennes
According to Canal+ and former L'Équipe journalist Bertrand Latour, Stade Rennais are set to extend the contract of promising centre-back Jérémy Jacquet (19). The young centre-back has been the subject of interest from European clubs including RB Leipzig near the tail-end of the season. Jacquet has seamlessly adapted to Habib Beye's backline after being recalled from a loan at Clermont where he spent the first half of the season. Even if it meant that Rennes had to spend €900k on a player that was already on their books – the youngster returned to his parent club and starred during the Breton club's resurgence during the second half of the Ligue 1 season. Jacquet is already tied-down at Rennes until 2027, but the club will be looking to trigger a further year in his contract in the hopes of either keeping the player this summer, or extracting the maximal value they can for the Frenchman in the case of an offer that they can't refuse.
