When Sanjay Leela Bhansali thought Jaya Bachchan ‘hated' Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan starrer ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam': ‘She saw the film and…'

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn 's 1999 film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' remains one of the most cherished romantic dramas in Bollywood. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali , the film captured hearts with its soulful music, vibrant visuals, and the emotional complexity of its love triangle. More than two decades later, stories about the film's journey continue to fascinate fans. In an old interview on Star Plus' talk show Star Talk, Bhansali opened up about the behind-the-scenes moments that led to the film being selected for the prestigious Berlin Film Festival. When Berlin came calling Bhansali recalled how 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' made its way to international acclaim, particularly at the Berlin Film Festival. He recalled, 'It was wonderful that it was selected in Berlin, it is now gone to every festival. There were two people responsible for it. One was Dorothy who came here from Berlin to select a film and a taxi driver said, 'Memsahab aap ye picture dekho humare saath.' He went with her, he sat with her, explained the film to her and she fell in love with the film. ' Bhansali thought Jaya Bachchan disliked the film While Bhansali celebrated the international success, he explained, 'And there was Jaya Bachchan, who recommended the film very strongly to Berlin. She came and saw the film and the day she saw the film, she came out, smiled at me and left. I thought she hated the film, it was before the release of the film.' However, he was in for a surprise. Jaya later called him and clarified that her way of appreciating the film was more action than words. She had quietly recommended the film to the Berlin Festival selection committee, which played a key role in its international success. Bhansali shared, 'And then she called me one day and said, 'You thought I hated the film but my way of saying that I like the film was to recommend it to Berlin and see to it that it goes over there. ' Bhansali's journey since then Since the success of 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', Sanjay Leela Bhansali has established himself as one of India's most visionary directors. From grand period dramas like 'Devdas', 'Bajirao Mastani', and 'Padmaavat', to the OTT series 'Heeramandi', Bhansali's style has always been characterised by rich visuals, strong emotions, and unforgettable music. On the work front, Bhansali is now gearing up for his next big project, 'Love & War'. The film will feature Ranbir Kapoor , Alia Bhatt , and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles.

'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Is Nostalgia': Anupamaa's Rupali Ganguly Praises Smriti Irani Show

Last Updated: Rupali Ganguly says there's no rivalry between Anupamaa and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, calling comparisons unnecessary and unfair. Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly isn't here for the comparisons. As buzz builds around the return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, some viewers have been quick to pit it against Star Plus' current chart-topper Anupamaa. But the Anupamaa actress has now addressed the chatter – and she has made her feelings crystal clear. Speaking to Telly Talk India, Rupali called the comparisons unfair and said the return of Kyunki is something to celebrate, not compete with. 'Ekta ji ka badhapan hai ki woh itni achi achi baatein kar rahi hai. Yeh sach hi hai. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is nostalgia. Hum sab ke liye badi garv ki baat hai ki woh humare channel pe show wapas aa raha hai. I don't understand how can you compare Anupamaa with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi." The discussion started after Ektaa Kapoor addressed social media posts that hinted at a brewing rivalry between the two shows. Speaking to Brut, the producer said she found the talk unnecessary and distasteful. 'Yesterday I was seeing some videos of Anupamaa having a problem as Kyunki is coming. I felt that was in such bad taste. She [Rupali] is such a big star. Anupamaa, the show, the creator Rajan… has done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number 1. They should continue to be number 1." Ektaa also took a moment to call out how often female-led shows and stars are unfairly compared, just for the sake of drama. 'We are coming in for our purpose. To tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows is so unnecessary and pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other is so uncalled for." Meanwhile, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi premiered on July 29, and Episode 1 delivered a heavy dose of nostalgia, tradition and fresh drama. Smriti Irani returns as Tulsi Virani, the soul of the show, and her comeback scene — performing aarti outside the Virani household — instantly transports viewers to the golden era of Indian TV. The episode opens with a powerful throwback to the original as the classic title track plays, now woven with the entry of new characters like Ritik (Aman Gandhi), Angad (Rohit Suchanti), and Paridhi (Shagun Sharma). Familiar faces including Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Ritu Chaudhary, Ketki Dave and Shakti Anand also return, offering a perfect blend of old and new. Lovebirds Kanwar Dhillon And Alice Kaushik's ‘Red-Hot' Chemistry Is Unmissable

Twinning in red, both Alice and Kanwar added a fashion forward twist to their appearance. He didn't mince words and called out the constant clickbait content, adding, 'End this mud-slinging journalism with nasty headlines, content and comments. Don't create speculations when there should be none. We clear? Thank you — and get a life because your writing content definitely needs more than a 'SECOND CHANCE'."
