Ahsoka Season 2: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on May 22, 2025, 19:47 IST The Star Wars universe continues to expand with Ahsoka Season 2, the highly anticipated follow-up to the successful Disney+ series starring Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. After an action-packed first season that introduced a new galaxy and rekindled fan-favorite stories from Star Wars Rebels, fans are eager for details on what's next for the former Jedi and her allies. In this article, we'll dive into Ahsoka Season 2's release date speculation, rumored cast members, potential plot points, and everything we know so far. Release Date Speculation for Ahsoka Season 2 While Disney and Lucasfilm have not announced an official release date for Ahsoka Season 2, several sources provide clues about its potential timeline. Filming began in late April 2025, as confirmed by Rosario Dawson and Dave Filoni at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025. Given the production timeline of Season 1, which took roughly 15 months from filming (May 2022) to premiere (August 2023), a similar schedule suggests Ahsoka Season 2 could premiere in mid-to-late 2026, likely between July and September. Expected Cast for Ahsoka Season 2 The cast of Ahsoka Season 2 is shaping up to feature both returning favorites and new faces, with some changes due to the passing of a key actor. Here's who we expect to see: Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger . Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll Steve Blum as Zeb Orrelios Admiral Ackbar Potential Plot Details for Ahsoka Season 2 While specific plot details remain under wraps, Ahsoka Season 2 is poised to build on the cliffhangers and mysteries of Season 1. The finale saw Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on Peridea, a planet in a new galaxy, while Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn returned to the main Star Wars galaxy, setting the stage for a dual-galaxy narrative. Here are the key plot points and speculations based on available information: Peridea and the Mortis Gods: Season 1 ended with Baylan Skoll standing on statues of the Mortis Gods (the Father, Son, and Daughter), which Dave Filoni confirmed will play a significant role. These Force entities, introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars , represent the balance, dark, and light sides of the Force. Baylan's search for a greater power may tie to the World Between Worlds or Abeloth, a rumored villain from Star Wars Legends who was once the Mother of Mortis. Ahsoka and Sabine's Journey: Stranded on Peridea, Ahsoka and Sabine will likely focus on finding a way back to the main galaxy, possibly through the World Between Worlds. Sabine's growing Force abilities, showcased in Season 1, will likely be explored further, with Ahsoka guiding her as a Jedi mentor. Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . ANDOR Showrunner Opens Up About 'Minimizing' STAR WARS REBELS to Tell a More Powerful Story — GeekTyrant
One of the latest episodes of Andor Season 2, titled 'Welcome to the Rebellion,' is already being hailed as one of the show's most powerful episodes, and it rewrites, or at least reframes, a major moment from Star Wars Rebels . In the episode, we see Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) take a stand in front of the Imperial Senate with a speech that incinerates them. She calls out the Empire's lies about Ghorman, names genocide for what it is, and ends with a chilling warning: 'The monster who will come for us all soon enough is Emperor Palpatine.' Moments later, Cassian whisks her away from ISB agents, and she's off to Yavin 4 to officially join the Rebel Alliance. It's a gripping and raw moment in the series, and… apparently, it messes with canon. Fans of Star Wars Rebels may remember a very different version of this story. In that series, Mon Mothma gives a similar speech while being transported by Gold Squadron, and it's broadcast across the galaxy. That sequence was once considered gospel in the timeline. But showrunner Tony Gilroy didn't see it as unbreakable. He told Entertainment Weekly: 'We are hijacking canon. In canon, she's rescued by the Gold Squadron and the speech that they gave in the cartoon, which was a canonical show, [is on that ship]. And Danny's like, 'Do I have to stick to this f--ing speech?'' So rather than ditch Rebels entirely, Gilroy and his brother/co-writer Dan Gilroy opted to work around it, recasting the animated events as a second act rather than the only act. 'In a really sneaky way, we're minimizing what they did in Star Wars Rebels, but we're keeping it consistent. We're just saying you don't really know the whole story of what happened.' Essentially, the speech we saw in Andor becomes the catalyst and the Rebels moment becomes a continuation. According to their logic, Cassian gets Mon to safety, and later, Luthen Rael arranges her rendezvous with Gold Squadron, where she gives a second broadcasted version of her message. It's retroactive storytelling, but it works because it's emotionally honest, and it deepens the arc. Genevieve O'Reilly, who has truly made the role of Mon Mothma her own, reflected on the power of the scene and the decision to have Cassian by her side. 'She has been working for the Rebellion deeply and intrinsically, and she's been vital to the Rebellion. But that is the moment that she crosses that rubicon and she crosses it with Cassian. That felt beautiful, that it is with him, given where we go in Rogue One. But it's that there's no turning back at that point. There is no going back.' For those who missed it, here's the full text of Mon Mothma's speech: 'Fellow senators, friends, colleagues, allies, adversaries, I stand before you this morning with a heavy heart. I stand this morning with a difficult message. 'I believe we are in crisis. The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous.' 'The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest. 'This chamber's hold on the truth was finally lost on the Ghorman plaza. What took place yesterday, what happened yesterday on Ghorman was unprovoked genocide. Yes, genocide. And that truth has been exiled from this chamber. 'And the monster screaming the loudest, the monster we helped create, the monster who will come for us all soon enough, is Emperor Palpatine.' Nine episodes into its second season, Andor continues to impress fans with its strong storytelling. What did you think of the speech and the canon shift?

It looks like a key Star Wars event mentioned in Rebels will be shown in Andor season 2
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. A new look at Andor season 2 has been released on Disney Plus, and it seems to show a seismic moment on the Star Wars timeline. In the featurette, which is available on the streamer now and is titled Andor Season 2: A Special Look, we see protestors identified by the subtitles as Ghorman. We then see the Imperial Dedra, who coldly orders "proceed." It certainly looks as if this is the infamous Ghorman Massacre, which is a massive turning point for Mon Mothma and the Rebellion. The Ghorman Massacre, as the name suggests, saw protestors slaughtered by stormtroopers. In the aftermath, Mon Mothma made a strident speech against the Emperor, condemning him as a "lying executioner" – this moment is seen in Star Wars Rebels season 3, episode 18, and, later in the episode, Mon Mothma resigns from the Senate and helps to unite the Rebellion. The Mon Mothma of Andor season 1 was far more cautious, but by Rogue One, she's spearheading the Rebellion. That means it's likely we'll see her transformation from Senator to rebel leader in Andor season 2, culminating with the Ghorman Massacre. This might not be the only moment of crossover with Star Wars Rebels, either. The first trailer for Andor season 2 appears to show Lothal, which is Ezra Bridger's home planet. We don't have long to wait for Andor – the new season lands on Disney Plus this April 23, with three new episodes arriving a week.
