Fans left STUNNED over former Disney Channel teen heartthrob's shocking transformation
A former Disney Channel teen heartthrob has left fans completely stunned over his transformation. Sixteen years ago, Sterling Knight stole the hearts of millions thanks to his role in the beloved series Sonny With a Chance. Sterling played arrogant and egotistical teen idol Chad Dylan Cooper in the show, who eventually ended up becoming Demi Lovato 's love interest. His confidence and charm, as well as his adorable smile and perfectly-swept hair, instantly propelled Sterling into the spotlight. He soon scored a leading part in the Disney Channel original movie Starstruck and also was a lead in Disney's brief sketch comedy series So Random! It seemed like it would be the beginning of a decades-long career for Sterling... but unfortunately, that wasn't the case for the actor. Flash forward to now, a decade and a half later, and the once-beloved Disney star, now 36, has left the spotlight entirely. He hasn't acted since 2022 and is no longer active on social media, leaving many to wonder: What exactly happened to Sterling? After shying away from the public eye for some time, he began posting videos to the platform Cameo in recent years, and boy, does he look different from his Disney days. Fans took to TikTok to discuss his appearance back in February, and many were shocked over how much he has changed. The former Disney star had a long and scruffy beard in his recent Cameo videos. In addition, his once-perfectly sculpted golden brown locks are now long and curly. 'I think we all thought Sterling Knight's career was going to take off after he left Disney Channel, but it really hasn't,' TikTok user Josh Denney said in a now-viral video. 'I could have sworn Sterling Knight was going to be the next big popstar to come out of Disney.' Josh noted that Sterling hadn't been in any 'notable projects' in nearly a decade, adding, 'He's continued to act in smaller projects throughout the years but nothing's really hit big for him.' 'Aside from acting, one of his main focuses in the last few years has been creating personalized messages for his fans and sending them on Cameo,' Josh continued. 'But in one of the most recent Cameos he's posted he looks unrecognizable. It's actually pretty crazy.' Back in November, it was announced that Sterling was going to return to the screen to star in a new rom-com called 40 Dates and 40 Nights alongside Bailee Madison and Joel Courtney. 'Could we be witnessing Sterling Knight's big acting comeback, which we've been waiting for? I really hope so,' Josh concluded. 'Shoutout to Sterling Knight, thank you for shaping mine, and millions of other people's childhoods across the world.' Many rushed to the comment section to discuss Sterling's surprising journey. 'Unlike a lot of other Disney actors, Knight had good comedic timing to his acting. He was ACTUALLY funny watch,' one user noted. Another wrote, 'I really thought of him as the second Zac Efron! It's crazy he didn't have the same amount of success. Yet.' 'I honestly respect him for his career choices. I'm sure he is just living life how he wants to and at the pace he is comfortable with,' someone else added. 'Success [doesn't equal] happiness.' 'He was pretty good singer, Disney should have pushed him to that he could have been great to be honest,' a fourth comment read. A fifth said, 'His comeback is on my bingo card.' Sterling started his career off with minor roles in movies like Calm, Career Day, and Hi-Jinks. In 2007, he was cast in one episode of Hannah Montana as Lilly's boyfriend. After that, he landed his role in Sonny With a Chance, which really propelled him into the spotlight. Soon after, he starred in the popular movie 17 Again alongside Zac Efron, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Matthew Perry. Starstruck came next, followed by So Random!, which was unfortunately canceled after one season. After that he parted ways with Disney, and went on to act in the action thriller Transit, the TV show Melissa & Joey, Hulu's The Hotwives of Orlando, and most recently, the 2022 drama film It Snows All the Time. He stopped posting regularly on Instagram in September 2023, however, he did return to the platform earlier this year to share a tribute to his 17 Again costar Michelle following her death. In the post, he gave an update on his own life, revealing that he had 'emergency gallbladder removal surgery.' 'Some quick thoughts. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, I ended up having emergency gallbladder removal surgery (would not recommend) but I'm healing up nicely,' he wrote. 'With the timing of that, and the passing of Michelle, who was so unbelievably kind to me, it made me think. 'Tomorrow is not guaranteed and it's important to tell those close to you that you love them and appreciate them as often as possible.' He described Michelle as 'generous, kind, and beyond helpful to him' as he 'navigated his first big movie.' 'I had grown up watching her (as we all did) and she always had time for me if I had questions or was struggling,' continued the star. 'I'll never forget hanging out with Matthew and Michelle in her trailer, for hours, talking about life and work, lessons and wisdom they had picked up.

‘The Man Who Tried To Save Colombia': Politicians, Buyers & Family Attend Screening Of Doc Telling Reconciliation Story Between Pablo Escobar's Son & Jorge Lara
A special screening is taking place in Colombia today for a Banijay doc about the reconciliation between Pablo Escobar's son and the son of politician Rodrigo Lara, whose father's death was ordered by the drug kingpin. Representing a milestone in South American TV and politics, the screening of Lara: The Man Who Tried To Save Colombia in the capital Bogotá is a commemoration of the 41st anniversary of Lara's assassination. It has been organized by the Jorge Lara Restrepo Foundation in alliance with the Universidad Externado de Colombia. Shoot; Griersons Trustees Named - Global Briefs Members of Lara's family, prominent politicians, buyers across Lat Am and delegates from Embassies of The Netherlands, UK, Norway and Switzerland in Colombia are attending today. Lara's son Jorge Lara died during the making of the film, which we revealed nearly three years back. Told via double narrative, the film shows the extraordinary reconciliation between Jorge Lara and Escobar's son Sebastián Marroquín. Upon learning of his father's death, Jorge Lara was initially out for revenge but a twist of fate reconciled him with Marroquín, the child of one of the most notorious criminals of all time, as he realized they had more in common than he first thought. Escobar has long been a source of fascination in South America and beyond and Gavan, who won a BAFTA for Saving Africa's Witch Children, has previously said she dedicated over a decade of time to get access for the feature. Today's event is a 'call to action for the Colombian government and prosecutors to fully investigate the crime, still unsolved, and to hold accountable those who stood with Escobar,' said Gavan. 'Jorge died holding his father's written notes, notes of prominent people in Colombia he believed were connected to the drug trade,' she added. 'Jorge died with the pain in his heart, that people who were involved in his father's assassination were still not brought to justice.' Lina and Carolina Flórez García, co-founders of the Jorge Lara Restrepo Foundation and producers of the film in Colombia, added: 'Lara: The Man Who Tried to Save Colombia is not just a film; it is an act of resistance. Through the harrowing journey of Jorge Andrés Lara Restrepo —who defied the imposed oblivion following the still-unpunished assassination of his father, Minister Rodrigo Lara Bonilla—, this work denounces the systemic corruption within the justice system that has prevented the truth about his father's murder from being revealed. At the same time, the film offers a luminous path toward reconciliation.' Simon Cox, EVP Content & Acquisitions, Banijay Rights, said: 'This project is a reconciliation tale like no other and to see this landmark screening go ahead – in the very city where Rodrigo Lara was assassinated – and to bring together so many family, friends, and partners in one place, is an incredibly poignant moment for us at Banijay Rights, Red Rebel and Scenery. It's an honour for the film to be a part of this event and we wish everyone involved the very best of success.' The doc is a Scenery (a Banijay Benelux Joint Venture) and Red Rebel Films production, in partnership with Banijay Rights, which handles global distribution. French Giant Banijay Enters Race To Buy ITV
Banijay has been among the most acquisitive independent TV makers of recent years, and now reportedly has its sights on ITV. According to the FT, the French production and distribution giant has entered early stage talks to buy the UK network. A deal would either be an outright takeover or just for lucrative production wing ITV Studios, which makes the likes of Love Island and Mr Bates Vs the Post Office. More from Deadline 'Celebrity Big Brother UK' 2025 Winner Crowned On ITV1 'Starstruck' Tunes Up In Italy; Road Trip Movie Readies L.A. Shoot; Griersons Trustees Named - Global Briefs 'Celebrity Big Brother UK' Finalists Revealed Following Shocking Triple Eviction Should the deal materialize as a full takeover, the FT reports that Banijay would need to bring in third-party investors. ITV is currently worth more than £3B ($4B) after a share price rise that followed after it became clear a deal for its studios arm was possible. Much of that value is applied to ITV Studios, which some analysts suggest would fetch a similar number on its own. This lays bare the lack of value buyers are attaching to the ITV network business, which includes the flagship linear channel and streamer ITVX. Banijay rival All3Media has been closely linked with ITV, with reports from January suggesting they had explored merging their production assets. France's TF1 Group and Formula One owner CVC Capital Partners have also been rumored as potential suitors too. Banijay, which was originally formed back in 2008, tied up one of the biggest deals of recent years when it bought Endemol Shine Group for $2.2B in 2020. That followed the 2015 merger of Banijay Entertainment and Zodiak Media Group, which created a business worth over $1B. TV arm Banijay Entertainment is now part of a Euronext-listed Banijay Group that includes live events and betting businesses and has a market cap of €3.6B. ITV Studios is comprised of a centralized production division that makes the likes of Coronation Street, plus a suite of production companies such as Rivals maker Happy Prince, Love Island UK firm Lifted Entertainment and Fool Me Once producer Quay Street Productions. It also operates ITV Studios-branded production bases and other indies in 12 other countries, including the U.S., where ITV America is one of the country's most prolific unscripted producers. Banijay declined to comment, while ITV hadn't responded to request for comment at press time.
