Knocking Aberdeen out 'no problem' for cocky FCSB duo expecting smooth Europa League passage

Jimmy Thelin's men face a two-legged shootout with a shot at a cash jackpot and Europa League proper on the line Two Steaua Bucharest stars have insisted eliminating Aberdeen from the Europa League will be 'no problem'. ‌ Jimmy Thelin's men face the former European Cup Winners in a two-legged play-off with the winner of the tie heading into the Europa League proper. ‌ The first leg will be played in the Granite City before a trip to Romania for a showdown at the Arena Nationala Stadium. ‌ Steaua knocked out Drita with wins home and away and Dennis Politic and David Miculescu - both Romanian internationals and found the net in Pristina - are very confident of defeating the Scottish Cup holders and booking their spot in the competition league phase. Politic said: "I think we will be able to enter the Europa League group stages without any problems. "It is an accessible path for us, we are playing Aberdeen - a good team, from Scotland - but very beatable, from my point of view. "The boys got through against tougher teams last season. We're going into the games very motivated and we won't have any problems." And his view on Aberdeen was shared by Miculescu. He said: "I saw their recent match against Celtic. Aberdeen are a good team, but if we do our job and do what we've worked on in training, we won't have any problems. ‌ "There's no doubt we are aiming to win both matches at home and away in the play-offs." And the club's madcap chairman Gica Becali - who picks the team and even makes subs - was no less confident. He said: "My coaching staff tell me Aberdeen are slightly better than Drita. "I personally haven't watched them, I don't need to. "We play the derby against Rapid Bucharest this weekend. There will be six changes to the team because many players looked tired."

Ex Rangers star given bonkers Celtic transfer endorsement so he get one over old club

Romanian FA technical director Mihai Stoichita has bizarrely urged Celtic to make a bonkers move for Ianis Hagi. The Rangers star remains without a club since his Ibrox exit and is currently training back in homeland with Faul Constanta - the team who are owned by his football famous dad Gheorghe. The attacker has yet to find a new permanent home since his summer exit from Govan, despite Legia Warsaw being strongly linked with him. That would mean a potential swift return to Scotland to play Aberdeen in the Europa League play-off if they can overcome Kosovan club Drita FA in the third qualifying round. But Stoichita has namechecked the Hoops as one who should make an audacious swoop - so he can beat Rangers. He said: "I would be happy to see Ianis Hagi at Celtic. Let him play for them and beat Rangers. "Look, if he signs for Steaua Bucharest, I don't think it's a step backwards for his career at all. "He is fit and could play immediately. If he signs for a club now, he could easily play for the national team in the World Cup qualifiers in September and I pray for that. "He needs to be calm and make a decision." Ianis Hagi confirms talks with Euro club after Rangers exit

He was even offered a deal by Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest, but made clear he wasn't interested in staying in his homeland. Now he's been handed the chance to link up with his old Romanian manager Edi Iordanescu, who is now Legia's boss. Hagi said: "I haven't made any decisions yet. Discussions are ongoing with Legia Warsaw and other clubs too. Read more: "I don't want to rush, because I want to be careful when making a decision. I hope to start the next season right and find the club and manager with whom I can continue to develop and play to my maximum ability. "I am aware of what I can do on the pitch and my potential for growth. I still have a lot to learn, I have not yet reached my maximum level. "I feel very good from a medical point of view. I recovered from the small injury I had. I am already training fully. I am healthy and I can't wait to start the next season. "As I said, various negotiations are underway. I am free from contract and my agents are very active during this period. At the right time, I will make the best decision."

Tom Lawrence has ‘three Rangers exit options' as two historic EFL clubs join big-spending Wrexham in free transfer race

TOM LAWRENCE has three English Championship sides keen to snap him up as a free agent, according to reports. The midfielder was freed by Rangers at the end of last season after his contract expired. 1 Tom Larence is mobbed after scoring against Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League Credit: Kenny Ramsay Lawrence, 31, struggled with injuries after arriving at Ibrox from Derby County, never playing more than 22 leagues games in his three years in Glasgow. In total he managed 65 appearances with 11 goals for the Light Blues. The Wales international has been the subject of interest from big-spending Wrexham, backed by ambitious Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Wrexham won promotion from League One last season and will now compete in the Championship alongside two other clubs that have emerged as potential suitors for Lawrence. According to Football League World and Welsh outlet The Daily Post, Lawrence is also being tracked by West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City. West Brom and Coventry both made pushes for Premier League promotion last season, with the Baggies missing out while the Sky Blues were beaten by Sunderland in the play-offs. Lawrence could be an replacement at the Hawthorns for John Swift, and for Jamie Paterson at the Coventry Arena. A move to Wrexham would represent something of a homecoming for Lawrence who was born in Wrexham but never actually played for the club. He first played for Everton as a youth before joining Manchester United at eight and working his way up the age groups at Old Trafford. But he never quite made the grade in Manchester and before leaving for Leicester City in 2014 he spent time on loan at Carlisle United and Yeovil Town, the latter when they were in the Championship. Rangers captain James Tavernier spotted training with ex-team-mate and old Premiership rival Ryan Porteous who branded him 'bad loser' Indeed, Lawrence has amassed the majority of his career appearances in the second tier of English football. He has turned out Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City, and Ipswich Town. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
