Inter Milan Prepare Defensive Shortlist After Backline Exposed In 5-0 Champions League Final Loss Vs PSG

Inter Milan Prepare Defensive Shortlist After Backline Exposed In 5-0 Champions League Final Loss Vs PSG Inter Milan are targeting Sam Beukema, Jhon Lucumi, Koni De Winter, and Giovanni Leoni to shore up their defense. This according to today's print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Inter have their shortlist ready after yesterday's humiliating loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Advertisement It would be fair to say that Inter Milan's defense was not up to the task against Paris Saint-Germain yesterday. The Nerazzurri conceded an eye-watering five goals, looking vulnerable from first minute to last in the Champions League final. It would hardly be fair to just blame the defenders for this calamity. The Nerazzurri team as a whole looked a shockingly weak defensive unit. However, at the same time, there remains a sense that the performance exposed the aging Inter backline. (Photo by) According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter are now very much ready to move in the transfer market. Advertisement The futures of veteran duo Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij are, putting it mildly, uncertain. Moreover, the Corriere note that Inter would be ready to listen to offers for Yann Bisseck. This could be the right time for them to sell the German for a huge profit. Particularly if Bisseck goes, Inter will have to shore up their backline. And the Corriere names four players as major targets in this regard. Firstly, there are two Bologna defenders right near the top of Inter's list. Sam Beukema and Jhon Lucumi have both impressed the Nerazzurri. Then, Inter's interest in Genoa defender Koni De Winter is no secret. Advertisement Lastly, the Corriere reports, Inter could also move for Parma defender Giovanni Leoni. Inter had already attempted to sign Leoni from Sampdoria last summer. Instead, the teenage defender joined Parma. But after an outstanding debut campaign in Serie A, Leoni remains a major target for Inter.

Inter Milan Will Break Club Goalscoring Record In Champions League If They Score Vs PSG In Final

Inter Milan Will Break Club Goalscoring Record In Champions League If They Score Vs PSG In Final Inter Milan will break their club record for goals scored in a Champions League final if they find the back of the net against PSG in the final. This is highlighted in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Advertisement It has been a wild ride for Inter Milan in the Champions League up to this point. At times, the Nerazzurri have certainly had to rely on their defensive solidity. This was particularly the case in the league phase, where they conceded just one goal in eight matches. Then in the knockouts against stronger opposition, Inter began to concede goals more frequently. However, that wasn't a problem, because Inter have been prolific at the other end. Against Bayern Munich, the Nerazzurri conceded three goals – but scored four. And against Barcelona, Inter prevailed by a remarkable 7-6 scoreline on aggregate after extra time. (Photo by) As the Gazzetta note, Inter Milan have scored two or more goals in every one of their Champions League knockout matches so far. Advertisement And the total number of goals that the Nerazzurri have scored since the start of the competition has been 26. That is the most that Inter have ever scored in a single Champions League season. They did so during the 2002-03 season as well. Therefore, Inter have already equalled their own club record. However, if the Nerazzurri are to get on the scoresheet tomorrow, they will break it and set a new record outright.

Liverpool Captain Virgil Van Dijk's Champions League Prediction: ‘I Know Inter Milan, PSG Aren't Favourites'

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk feels that PSG aren't favourites against Inter Milan in the Champions League final. The Dutchman spoke to French outlet L'Equipe, via FCInterNews. He stated that he 'knows' the Nerazzurri and believes they will give formidable competition to the Parisians. Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will contest the Champions League final in a little under a week. Inter booked their place in the final with a memorable knockout run which saw them eliminate Feyenoord, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. Meanwhile, PSG dispatched Premier League sides Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal. There are few doubts that Inter and PSG have been two of the absolutely outstanding sides in the competition this season. Inter Milan also had a very strong league phase. They picked up notable wins against teams such as Arsenal and RB Leipzig. Meanwhile, PSG had a rocky start to the league phase. However, they came roaring back in their last few matches, including a memorable 4-2 comeback win over Manchester City. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was asked if he feels PSG are favourites. 'I don't think so,' he replied. 'I played against PSG recently,' said the 33-year-old. 'They made a strong impression on me.' 'But as far as Inter, I've played against them in the past,' said van Dijk. 'And I know two of their players well, my compatriots Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij.' 'Maybe Inter have a little more experience than PSG, as they recently played in a Champions League final,' added the Liverpool captain.

They beat the Lariani 2-0. However, in Naples, Napoli beat Cagliari by the scoreline. Therefore, that was enough to hold on to their one-point advantage in the Serie A table. Inter Milan were unable to become the first team to defend the title since the 2019-20 season. Inter Milan took to Instagram with a video of Stefan de Vrij's opening goal.
