SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Reportedly to Feature a Big-Time OG Avenger — GeekTyrant

Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be way more than just a solo Spidey outing. While early rumors flew around about wild team-ups like Spider-Man and The Punisher taking on the Hulk, one part of that fan-fiction-sounding trio may actually be coming true. According to Nexus Point News, Mark Ruffalo is set to return as Bruce Banner. The outlet reports: 'Banner's appearance will be much larger than a cameo, and Ruffalo will have a substantial role in the film.' If this is true, then we can expect Banner to Hulk out, and his involvement alone suggests something much bigger is brewing. Given where things left off in No Way Home , with Peter's world completely flipped and forgotten, it actually makes sense for him to turn to another science-minded hero for help. Fans have also been hungry to see Peter and Bruce interact more meaningfully with each other, which would be a really fun dynamic to play with. I can see Parker going to Banner for help in whatever predicament he finds himself in. If Ruffalo is joining the project, he'll join new cast members Sadie Sink , who is rumored to by playing Mayday Parker, and Liza Colón-Zayas. It's also reported that Steven Yeun is in talks for an undisclosed role, and Michael Mando will be back as the Scorpion. Filming kicks off this July in London, and director Destin Daniel Cretton is already hyping up the creative process, previously saying: 'I'm spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world. We're all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven't really seen before.' Tom Holland also previously said: 'I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That's all I can say.' We'll see how fresh that start really is when Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31, 2026.

THUNDERBOLTS* Director on Finding Steven Yeun's Replacement as The Sentry; Says Lewis Pullman Helped Develop the Role — GeekTyrant

When casting was first announced for Marvel's Thunderbolts* , we saw that the majority of the main players were MCU veterans that had been in at least one other film, many of them several projects, except for one. Steven Yeun ( The Walking Dead , Beef ) was set to play the newcomer, Bob, who turned out to be the character The Sentry. Unfortunately, due to the strikes a couple of years ago, that messed with many filming schedules, and Yeun had to drop out of the role due to other commitments. In a recent interview with the film's director, Jake Schreier, he talked about the process of scrambling last minute to find a suitable replacement actor to take on the mysterious role. Schreier explained to The New York Times: "I think the hardest part is that they don't get to read a script. That's a big leap for any actor to take. I met up with Lewis back in L.A. and we were scrambling because I think we were maybe a month out at that point. 'I basically gave him the oral history of Thunderbolts because I wasn't allowed to give him the script, but it's like, 'I will tell you the whole story, I will show you the concept art, I'll show you the animatics.' I just really tried to show him how interesting the character could be and why it would be worth taking that leap." He went on: "These things are so secretive. Also, I think there is this trust that we'll get in there and we'll figure it out together. Something Kevin [Feige] always talks about is you can never come into a Marvel meeting at any point of the process and say, 'I think we're done, I think this is it.' 'It's always, 'This is good. Here's how we think we can make it better.' Lewis absolutely got to be part of the development, and he and Florence worked on the scenes. We rewrote stuff, made it work better and fit the role to him." I had been looking forward to seeing Yeun in the MCU, but Pullman did a fantastic job, and I loved what he brought to the character. Hopefully Yeun will be able to fill another role in the future. Schreier went on to say that he was "apprehensive" about taking Bob to such dark places, but praised Marvel Studios and Feige for "pushing me toward making it different than what they had done." "If you have the Sentry and the Void [the Sentry's villainous alter ego] in your movie, you're going to have to go there. We talked to Paul Jenkins, who created the character, and it always was a parable for mental health. 'Also, he is extraordinarily overpowered and his only kryptonite is that there's this Void side to him. If you're going to make any movie that works with that character in it, it's going to have some amount of internal conflict that works as well as the external conflict," the filmmaker concluded. The Sentry will return in Avengers: Doomsday , set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, alongside his fellow New Avengers.

Legend of Aang delayed to October 2026 as TMNT sequel moves to 2027

Paramount Pictures has shifted its release schedule for several major animated films. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, the highly anticipated follow-up to the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender series, will now debut on October 9, 2026, instead of the originally planned January 30 date. The film will feature voice talents Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, and Eric Nam, with Lauren Montgomery and William Mata directing. The animated feature takes place years after the 2005 Nickelodeon series, which followed Aang, a 12-year-old Avatar mastering all four elements to save the world from the Fire Nation. The delay is expected to give more time for post-production and enhance fan expectations. Meanwhile, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 has also been delayed. Previously slated for October 9, 2026, it will now hit theaters on September 17, 2027. Directed by Jeff Rowe and produced by Point Grey Pictures, the sequel follows the success of 2023's Mutant Mayhem. To bridge the two films, a spinoff series titled Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will launch on Paramount+, with original voice actors Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon returning. On a more positive scheduling note, Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie will now release one week earlier, on July 24, 2026. The voice cast includes Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, and Bill Nye. The film is produced by Spin Master Entertainment and Nickelodeon Movies. These changes reflect Paramount's evolving animation strategy and the growing demand for expanded universes in family-friendly franchises.
