More rain chances today; drying out this weekend across region

Storm Center 7 Weather Specialist Nick Dunn has the latest TIMING on when we will see drier weather this morning on News Center 7 Daybreak from 4:25 a.m. until 7 a.m. TRENDING STORIES: 22-year-old man killed in head-on crash in Northern Miami Valley District delays high school graduation due to weather 'Hard to just stand and watch;' Large fire destroys historic Catholic church Showers will arrive this morning across parts of the area with temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Dunn says the steadiest rain will likely be before lunchtime. 'Some redevelopment of isolated showers or even a thunderstorm is possible this afternoon into the evening, but no severe weather is expected,' he stated. Dunn added that some elevated wildfire smoke from Canada will move into the area later this evening. 'This may spark some colorful sunsets depending on the timing of when it arrives. No major surface impacts are expected locally,' he said. It will dry out this weekend with warmer temperatures expected next week. Storm Center 7 will continue to update this story. Patchy dense fog across parts of region this morning; more rain chances this week
The Miami Valley is expected to see more chances for rain to end the week. A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for Randolph County in Indiana until 9 a.m. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Storm Center 7 Weather Specialist Nick Dunn is TRACKING this weather pattern. He has the latest TIMING on when we will see warmer temperatures this morning on News Center 7 Daybreak from 4:25 a.m. until 7 a.m. TRENDING STORIES: Coroner called to crash near Dayton International Airport 1 officer in critical condition, another stable after shooting in Ohio; Suspect on the run Retired firefighter passes away after serving over 50 years for multiple departments We will see some light sprinkles and areas of patchy fog this morning with temperatures in the 50s. Dunn says rain chances are low today, but temperatures will be cooler than normal with highs in the low to mid 70s. There will be more rain chances on Friday, mainly south of Interstate 70. Marginal risk for showers, storms today; damaging winds, hail possible

Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Ryan Marando has the latest TIMING and IMPACTS today on News Center 7 at Noon. The heaviest will be late this morning. Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Britley Ritz says hydroplaning and loss of visibility are possible with heavier showers. Another round of scattered showers and storms is likely late this afternoon into the evening. 'Our atmosphere will be worked over with morning rain and storm chances,' said Ritz. 'It will be hard to maintain instability for afternoon storms.' The Storm Prediction Center has the area under a Marginal Risk for severe storms, a Level 1 out of 5. 'If anything turns severe, damaging wind will be the greatest threat,' she said. 'Small hail is possible, but the threat is much lower.' Rain chances will linger through Friday. The heat index will be near 90 degrees. Ritz says the risk of severe storms will be after 5 p.m. Storms will develop west of the region Friday. 'All severe weather threats are possible, including significant damaging winds in excess of 70 MPH, large hail, and the possibility of tornadoes.' The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has indicated a 3/5, enhanced risk for severe weather.
