Vicky Pattison hit by major blow amid Strictly Come Dancing rumours
Vicky Pattison hit by major blow amid Strictly Come Dancing rumours Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison is reportedly one of the first celebrities to have signed up for the 23rd series of Strictly, but has been warned to put her health first Vicky Pattison has reportedly signed up for Strictly (Image: Mike Marsland, Mike Marsland/WireImagevia Getty Images) Vicky Pattison's hopes of lifting the Strictly Glitterball trophy may already be in jeopardy, following a serious health setback for the former Geordie Shore start. Sources suggest the beloved TV personality remains committed to reaching the dance floor, though she must prioritise her physical health over her professional aspirations. The 37-year-old, who won I'm A Celebrity a decade ago, revealed that she was left practically bed bound last week after developing a trapped nerve in her back whilst undertaking a charity expedition in Iceland. Taking to social media with the news, Vicky explained her susceptibility to this agonising condition, especially during the colder seasons – confessing she could "barely move". With her name reportedly at the forefront of this year's anticipated Strictly sign-ups, insiders suggest the timing couldn't be more unfortunate, reports the Mirror. "She was desperately worried that this wasn't only not going to go away but that it could get worse," they told the Mirror. They add: "Vicky isn't a complainer, so when she says something feels bad, she means it. But she's also a really tough person and has already shown that she can cope with pretty much anything – one thing she's not, is a quitter. She needs to make sure she looks after herself though, that will be the most important thing." They continue: "Strictly has been the number one show on her wish list for years, especially after she went to watch her bestie Pete [Wicks] on it last year. This would be her time to shine and she knows that second chances don't come around often." Vicky's trapped nerve developed following her challenging trek in Iceland with the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! The condition occurs when excessive pressure is placed on a nerve by surrounding bone or muscle, with symptoms including numbness, aching or burning pain and muscle weakness. Vicky appeared in the crowd during last year's series to support her friend Pete Wicks (Image: PA) Speaking to her 5.5m Instagram followers, Vicky revealed she was unfortunately well-acquainted with the excruciating pain, sharing, "It happens mostly in the winter when I'm cold and all hunched over and tight. "It obviously happened in the trek last week. And I'm just feeling it now because my body has relaxed for the first time in a week. But I can barely bloody move." The timing proves particularly unfortunate for Vicky, the source continues, as it follows shortly after she was unofficially revealed as amongst the first celebrities prepared to commit to the 23rd Strictly series, which begins filming later this summer. The beloved dance competition has encountered its own controversies recently, including allegations of behind-the-scenes bullying and the exits of Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima from the professional roster. Last week, it was revealed that the show's executives were considering offering rehabilitation services to two of its stars following allegations of backstage cocaine use. The Sun newspaper reported that producers are contemplating implementing random drug tests for next year's Strictly Live tour. In response to these claims, a BBC spokesperson stated, "We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us. We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further." Vicky, who hosts a Saturday afternoon programme on Heart radio, is an avid fan of Strictly and was even spotted in the audience last year, enthusiastically cheering on her close friend Pete Wicks. Despite previously confessing that she'd rather "stand in the corner, drink and have a laugh" than hit the dance floor, our insider suggests it's time for Vicky to step into the Strictly limelight – provided she can regain her peak health. "She was in terrible pain with this trapped nerve, and really doesn't want it to mean the end of something she's dreamed about doing. She's watched Strictly for years but she had never felt as confident in herself as she does today – so the timing was worrying. "Dealing with health issues unfortunately isn't new to her, either, but it means she does know how to listen to her body and take care of herself." Vicky, who tied the knot with her long-term partner Ercan Ramadan last year, has previously opened up about her prolonged struggle to receive a diagnosis for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), a condition that triggers insomnia, anxiety, depressive thoughts, and physical discomfort. Article continues below "She's literally feeling all the emotions right now – Strictly isn't a walk in the park," an insider claims. "It's gruelling on the body and the mind, so she needs both to be in excellent condition. But she's a tough cookie so friends and family are convinced she'll do well. She's one determined lady – if anyone can do this, Vicky can."

Joe and I want to have kids – but my job is so demanding, says Strictly's Dianne Buswell, 35, who admits she's broody
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SHE waltzed off with the Strictly Glitterball trophy last year – but now Dianne Buswell is setting her sights on the even bigger prize and challenge of motherhood. The Australian pro dancer, who met her partner Joe Sugg when he competed in the BBC One show in 2018, says she has recently become broody after spending time with their nieces and nephews. 4 Strictly pro Dianne Buswell is feeling broody Credit: Camera Press 4 Dianne met partner Joe Sugg when he competed on Strictly in 2018 Credit: Instagram In an exclusive interview with The Sun on Sunday, she said: 'I would like to have children, 100 per cent. 'Joe and I love kids, and that's definitely something that we would absolutely love. I haven't really thought about how many I would like. It will definitely happen.' Dianne, 35, who won the contest last year partnering comedian Chris McCausland, says it was spending Christmas with family at the couple's home in Brighton that led to discussions about parenthood. The pair are already auntie and uncle to their siblings' children. Dianne has a brother, Andrew, who is also a dancer, and Joe's sister Zoella is a media personality. Dianne said: 'Joe's got two nieces who I also class as my nieces, and then I have another two nieces and two nephews in Australia, and my oldest niece is 15. 'I am a big fan of my little nieces and nephews. I love kids, I love working with them and being around them. Sometimes, I'm a big kid at heart myself. I think it helps when you can get down to their level. I'm very lucky.' 'Life-changing' But Dianne said one of her biggest challenges may just be finding the right time. She and fellow Strictly pro Vito Coppola have just announced a 30-date tour, Red Hot And Ready, starting next month. And she and Strictly winner Chris — the programme's first blind contestant — have just launched their own podcast, Winning Isn't Everything. Strictly's Dianne Buswell stuns in black swimsuit on the beach as she enjoys Christmas with Joe Sugg and her poorly dad On the prospect of motherhood, Dianne said: 'It is quite tough because my job is quite demanding, and I love it so much. 'It is a tough one to balance out and think about. It would take a lot of thought, but eventually one day we will get there, but there is lots happening at the moment. It will happen when it's supposed to.' Both she and YouTuber Joe, 33, have already had hugely successful careers. Dianne toured with hit show Burn The Floor in 2011, and also appeared on So You Think You Can Dance Australia. In 2015, she starred in Australia's version of Strictly and landed the role in the UK show in 2017. As well as dancing, she and Joe are one of social media's highest- earning couples in the UK, with a reported combined fortune of £8.8million. Dianne makes sure she stays in the best shape possible for the challenges that face her with a strict diet, exercise and recovery routine. She learned a lot about her health from appearing in reality TV show Freeze The Fear With Wim Hof in April 2022. It consisted of performing tasks in sub-zero temperatures, and Dianne said the experience with the Dutch motivational speaker and extreme athlete — also known as The Iceman — was life-changing, and she now uses the breathing methods that were shown to her to deal with anxiety. She explained: 'I've delved into a lot of things to prolong my body. I don't want to use the word strict, because I don't have to do this, but I have things in place which are longevity for my body. For instance, I invested in an infrared sauna for myself. 'I've got an ice bath and a Pilates Reformer [exercise machine]. I have all these different things that I do, and I look after what I eat.' 'Achieved so much' Dianne, who had the equipment installed in the £3.5million, five- bedroom home the couple bought in 2022, said: 'I'm really invested, and I know it sounds quite extreme, but at the same time my body is my tool. 'It's my work and it's what I use every single day, so I find it an investment for my future and my body.' Dianne has a sauna and ice bath five days a week and said: 'I'll also stretch when I'm in the sauna, so my body is having a good stretch, too. 4 Dianne won Strictly last year partnering comedian Chris McCausland Credit: PA 'I'm very into all that kind of stuff. I love wellness, and I love feeling good, and I love that my body still feels like it did when I was 28 — I genuinely do. 'Touch wood, it's continuing on that path, but I think that's just because I'm very conscious about what I put into my body, and what I'm doing for my recovery. 'That's just as important as keeping the muscles maintained, and knowing what your body works well with, because everybody is so different.' The Glitterball is in my office so when I'm working it can remind me that hard work can pay off and I've already achieved so much Dianne Dianne, who has also been partnered with Max George, Tyler West and Bobby Brazier in Strictly, is hoping to return to the show again this year — an ambition that is already displayed on her office wall. She said: 'I like to surround myself in my office with lots of things that inspire me. 'I have a vision board, and I have things that I aspire to do, but also things that I am really proud of. 'Real honour' 'You can be working on something, and sometimes things don't work out, and you can get into a bit of a rut. 'But if you look around and see all the things you've already achieved, it makes it so much better. 'The Glitterball is in my office so when I'm working it can remind me that hard work can pay off and I've already achieved so much. I'm so proud of it.' Dianne adores her job so much that she still finds it 'exciting' to go to work every day. 4 Dianne says it was spending Christmas with family that led to discussions with Joe about parenthood, pictured on stage with dancer partner Chris Credit: PA She said: 'It doesn't feel like a hard slog. Yes, of course, when you're training you can become a bit tired because it is every day, especially if you make it all the way to the final. And obviously, last year Chris and I worked very hard to achieve what we did, but it was never a real drag. 'It was a real honour and a good experience.' Strictly is also where she met her dance touring partner, Vito. She said: 'We met on the show, but my mum's side of the family are Italian, and when I met Vito he felt like one of my cousins. 'That's the vibe Vito and I have, and I adore him. He's like either my crazy uncle or my crazy cousin. We've always got along, from day one.' Dianne is grateful for all the show has done for her — including meeting Joe, the man who she hopes will one day become the father of her baby. She said: 'It blows my mind. I'm just a girl from Bunbury in Western Australia who loved and had a massive passion for dance. 'Now it's brought me over to the UK on the biggest TV show that they have, so it's a real pinch-me moment.'
