Man drowns after being swept away in Dabong river

KOTA BHARU : A 47-year-old man who went missing while bathing in Sungai Kenerong, Dabong, here today was found dead at about 4.13pm. He is believed to have drowned.
Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said the man was swept away by currents when he went to check on the depth of the river.
'The victim had gone with nine friends to bathe in the river at about 12.30pm. He went ahead to check on the water depth but was swept away by currents and went missing,' he said in a statement today.
A fire and rescue department spokesman said a search operation was held at 2.15pm. The victim was found two hours later at a depth of 3.7m lodged between some rocks.
