KSRTC disburses compensation under welfare schemes
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) distributed compensation to the dependents of deceased and injured employees under its welfare schemes on Saturday. For the first time, ₹25 lakh was granted to Sunilkumar B.D., a driver-cum-conductor from Arkalgud Depot in Hassan district, who lost his right leg in an accident. His medical expenses of ₹4.85 lakh were fully covered, and he was reassigned to duty.
Under the Sarige Suraksha Accident Insurance Scheme, KSRTC gave ₹2 crore to the families of two deceased employees, with each receiving ₹1 crore. Since its inception in October 2022, 26 families have received ₹1 crore each.
Under the Employee Family Welfare Scheme, the KSRTC disbursed ₹3.10 crore to 31 families, giving each ₹10 lakh after revising the compensation from ₹3 lakhs to ₹10 lakh in November 2023.
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and KSRTC Vice Chairman Mohammed Rizwan Nawab handed over the cheques, advising beneficiaries to use the funds wisely. Over 56,000 staff have also benefited from the KSRTC Arogya health scheme.
