Inside Donald Trump's 'obsession' with Taylor Swift as he makes fresh dig

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Donald Trump has made yet another jibe at Taylor Swift after declaring that he 'hates' the pop megastar in September. While normally the President of the United States of America is busy doing other stuff – like avoiding World War III, perhaps – Trump is busy teasing a 35-year-old pop star for getting booed at an NFL game. Makes sense. Speaking while the Philadelphia Eagles were at the White House on Monday to celebrate their 2025 Super Bowl win against the Kansas City Chiefs, Trump nodded to the Getaway Car singer's appearance at the Super Bowl, which she attended in support of the losing team's tight end, her boyfriend Travis Kelce. When both Trump and Swift attended the Super Bow in February, the pop star appeared on screen and was met by boos from the crowd. When Trump's face popped up however, the reception was warmer. At the time Trump smugly took to social media to suggest 'the only one that had a tougher time than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Now, he's made y et another jibe about the moment (which Swift seemed to shrug off by giving the camera a side-eye). 'Right from the beginning of the first quarter of the big game. I was there. I watched in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift, how did that work out?' he said. This most recent Swift dig has made Swifties suspect Trump is obsessed with the star. 'Ugh he's so obsessed,' said @_jaidendavis. 'What's his problem? added @klaudiamepasoja, while @sel_dimandal said: 'This old man never moved matured eew.' @ro76398725 added: 'His one sided feud with a woman who is like 1/3 his age and is 100000 trillion times more successful, respected, and liked than him is honestly hilarious.' 'Being a president of a country, he is targeting a pop star just because she does not support him. Why is he so obsessed? Really disgusting !' noted @Ridz_0509. With Swift's country music origins, it seems Trump wrongly assumed her vote was his. Rumour had it Swift was a secret Republican in the 2016 US election. But she shattered this suspicion in 2018, when the star publicly endorsed Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives in the mid-term elections. 'In the past I've been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,' she wrote, nodding to 2016 when Trump began his first term as US President. After that, Trump didn't look on Swift so kindly. In fact, he told reporters he 'liked Taylor's music about 25% less now'. In a 2023 interview for the 2024 book titled Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, Trump admitted he was surprised at Swift's liberal stance. This came during the first year of The Eras Tour as the country realised just how ground-breaking Swift's popularity is. Relaying his thoughts on the Shake It Off hitmaker, Trump complimented only her appearance and managed to refer to himself in the third person all in one breath. 'I think she's beautiful – very beautiful!' Trump said. 'I find her very beautiful. I think she's liberal. She probably doesn't like Trump. I hear she's very talented. I think she's very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!' He then asked: 'She is liberal, or is that just an act? She's legitimately liberal? It's not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal. One thing Trump does recognise in Swift aside from her 'beauty' – ew – is her influence. It's not a stretch to say Swift could have political impact, as the size and dedication of her following are unmatched. In September 2023, the U.S. Travel Association estimated the Swift's Eras Tour – the highest-grossing of all time – had a total economic impact surpassing $10 billion (£7.4bill). She's the biggest star in the world. So it's easy to see why in that same 2023 interview, Trump stopped short of verbally attacking Swift and instead tried to undermine her own words, suggesting she's lying about her political stance. 'She's got a great star quality,' Trump said in Apprentice in Wonderland, nodding to her huge fame. 'She really does.' Since breaking her political silence in 2018, Swift has openly opposed Trump. In 2020 she called him out on social media for 'stoking the fires of white supremacy' during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, declaring: 'We will vote you out in November.' After Trump's attempt to dismantle the The United States Postal Service, Swift said he had 'chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans' lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power'. Trump's calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He's chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans' lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power. — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) August 15, 2020 'Donald Trump's ineffective leadership gravely worsened the crisis that we are in and he is now taking advantage of it to subvert and destroy our right to vote and vote safely,' she added. Swift explained in her Miss Americana film how she regretted not speaking out politically ahead of the 2016 elections. 'I need to be on the right side of history,' she said in an emotional scene. Despite all her criticisms, Trump voiced his frustration at her for not endorsing him in June ahead of the November elections. 'Why would she endorse this dope,' Trump wondered, per CNN, of his then opponent Biden. 'He doesn't know how to get off a stage.' While Swift never endorsed Biden, she did go on to voice support for his Democrat replacement Kamala Harris. 'I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,' Swift wrote. Before Swift made her Harris vote public, Trump reposted an AI-created image of Swift endorsing him for US president in August. This propelled Swift to act. 'Recently I was made aware that AI of 'me' falsely endorsing Donald Trump's presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation,' Swift wrote in her endorsement. 'It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.' Swift's Instagram Story linked to the U.S. government's driving more than 400,000 visitors to the voter-information in the following 24-hour period. This seriously rattled Trump, who has since thrown caution to the wind in his approach to Swift and her army of followers. Chucking toys out the pram, Trump called into Fox News the morning after Swift's endorsement and said he was 'not a Taylor Swift fan'. He added how he liked wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' pro-Trump wife Brittany Mahomes 'much better' than her, reducing Swift's stardom to that of a WAG. 'It was just a question of time,' Trump said. 'You couldn't possibly endorse Biden. But she's a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat – and she'll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.' Five days after Swift's endorsement, still stewing, Trump took to Truth Social on a Sunday and wrote: 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!'. Signed, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived… Got a story? Shannon Sharpe denies rape allegations after being sued for $50 million

Pro Football Hall of Famer and sports media personality Shannon Sharpe has been accused of raping a woman he had been in a consensual sexual relationship with in a lawsuit filed Sunday night in Clark County, Nev. The woman, identified in the lawsuit as a Jane Doe, is seeking $50 million in damages for claims of assault, sexual assault, battery, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress after three alleged non-consensual sexual encounters in Las Vegas (twice in October, once in January). "The lawsuit filed under the pseudonym 'Jane Doe' lays out a pattern of intimidation, manipulation, and abuse, including allegations that Sharpe repeatedly threatened to choke and slap Jane Doe," attorney Tony Buzbee said in a statement emailed to The Times on Monday. Sharpe responded to the accusations Monday by posting a statement from his attorney, Lanny J. Davis, on social media. "Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct — especially the gross lie of 'rape' — and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail," the statement reads. "He stands firmly by the truth and is prepared to fight these false claims vigorously in court. He looks forward to vindication through due process and a judgment based on the facts and the law." According to the lawsuit, Sharpe and his accuser met while working out at a Los Angeles gym in 2023, when he was 54 and she was 20, after which he "incessantly pursued" her for a couple weeks before they started "a rocky consensual relationship that lasted nearly two years." During their relationship, the lawsuit alleges, Sharpe was controlling and manipulative, with his accuser allegedly discovering over time "that Sharpe was extremely emotional and possessed an uncontrollable temper." Read more: NFL mock draft live: 32 team reporters make their first-round picks "Sharpe's behavior demonstrates that he believed Plaintiff to be his personal property, possessed and owned by him," the lawsuit states. "He also believed that the laws did not apply to him, that he could take what he wanted, and that no one could or would stop him. He was and is wrong." According Davis' statement, the consensual sex between Sharpe and his accuser continued until Jan. 2. It also includes several examples of sexually explicit text messages allegedly sent by the accuser to Sharpe. "The evidence paints a clear picture: this was a consensual adult relationship that included role-playing, sexual language, and fantasy scenarios explicitly requested by [the accuser,]" Davis stated. Sharpe has found massive success as a podcaster, hosting such shows as "Club Shay Shay" and "Nightcap." On Friday, Front Office Sports reported that Sharpe's media deal with The Volume podcast network has expired and that sources say Sharpe "has received multiple offers and is expected to sign a deal that would exceed $100 million." An eight-time Pro Bowl tight end, Sharpe played 14 NFL seasons and won three Super Bowls, two with the Denver Broncos and one with the Baltimore Ravens. Upon retiring in 2003, Sharpe went into sports broadcasting. He currently works for ESPN and makes regular appearances on "First Take." ESPN declined to comment for this story. Buzbee and his firm have represented numerous plaintiffs in high-profile sexual assault cases against hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs and Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Davis has had numerous high-profile clients as well, including President Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen. Super Bowl LIX betting tips: Chiefs to land historic three-peat

Super Bow betting tips The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in the 59th Super Bowl on Sunday night, with the Chiefs looking to land a historic 'three-peat' of titles in the biggest match in the sport. It is the fifth time in the last six years that the Chiefs have reached the Super Bowl, they've already won three of those and they beat the Eagles in 2023 – triumphing 38-35 in a thriller at Super Bowl 57. In 2025, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes once again played his part as his side earned a spectacular 32-29 win over the Bills in the AFC Championship game, making the Chiefs the first back-to-back champions in history to return to the Super Bowl. And two years on from the narrow win that got the Chiefs their 2023 title, they will once again face the Eagles as they look to cement their NFL dynasty. The Eagles earned a convincing 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in an impressive performance in the NFC Championship game, though NFL betting sites have them as slight underdogs at 1/1 compared to the 5/6 moneyline for the Chiefs. The Chiefs only lost two matches this season on their way to New Orleans – with one coming as coach Andy Reid decided to rest Mahomes and other starters in the final game of the regular season against the Denver Broncos as the number one seed was already secured – and their big-game experience, combined with Mahomes' star quality, makes them difficult to wager against. Nevertheless, the form of both sides is enough to give fans plenty of confidence. The Eagles themselves have only lost three times this season, and are led by the duo of quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley – who finished just 100 yards short of the NFL record for rushing yards (2,005) in the regular season. Chiefs to land historic 'three-peat' As mentioned above, the Chiefs' recent form means its difficult to see them losing on Sunday. Earlier on in the season, the Super Bowl holders were a little more unconvincing, scraping some improbable wins, but their late-season and play-off form has been altogether more impressive. In attack, while they ranked in 12th for points per game and 19th in yards per pass, few will wager against Mahomes and coach Andy Reid coming up with some moments of magic when the stakes are highest, as they did in 2023 against the Eagles. In addition, unlike in previous years, it's been the Chiefs' defence that has arguably been their most impressive outlet, having ranked in the top 10 for opponent's points per game and points per play, as well as yards per game and red-zone touchdown percentage. With the Eagles attack certainly the most fearsome feature of their team, if the Chiefs can keep Hurts and Barkley quiet, then they should earn a hattrick of Super Bowl wins – something that betting sites agree with, offering odds around 5/6 for the Chiefs to win. Super Bowl LIX bet builder: Mahomes, Kelce and Barkley to star Mahomes and Barkley are widely tipped to be the stars of Super Bowl LIX, with both having been their team's main men in the regular season and postseason (alongside Hurts for the Eagles, in Barkley's case). To that end, it might offer good value to create a bet builder with the game's biggest names. While Mahomes has not quite recreated the superb form of previous regular seasons or playoffs this year, his Super Bowl performances speak for themselves, and he has consistently proved himself as the man for the big occasion, with his only Super Bowl loss coming against Tom Brady. While Mahomes has averaged just 211 passing yards per game this postseason, he has averaged 267.8 passing yards over his four Super Bowl starts, and threw 245 yards in the win over the Bills, so the first part of our bet builder sees a wager on him to throw 250+ passing yards, which is 20/27 with bet365. Moving on to Mahomes' Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce, the Ohio native might have experienced a slightly underwhelming regular season, but he remains Mahomes' go-to choice as receiver. If the quarterback is to throw 250 yards, Kelce will likely play a key part in that. Kelce has the second-most receptions on the Chiefs in the postseason, with nine, and while he only earned 19 yards against the Bills, his eight receptions on Christmas Day and seven in the Divisional Round win prove that he remains one of the key men for the Chiefs attack, so a wager on 6+ receptions (at 20/33) forms part of our bet builder. Finally, turning back to the Eagles' star man, Barkley has recorded 25 or more rushing attempts in four of his last five games, with the heavy win over the Commanders meaning he was allowed to rest somewhat. Expected to be the main man in the Eagles attack, it should offer decent value to add him into our bet builder, with a price of 10/21 for 20+ rushing attempts giving us a final bet builder value of 3/1. The Super Bowl three-peat eluded Bradshaw, Brady, Montana and Aikman. Now Patrick Mahomes takes his shot.

Terry Bradshaw always wondered what might have been if his Pittsburgh Steelers had reached the Super Bowl either of the times they had a chance to win three in a row. Ronnie Lott has long lamented just one bounce of the oblong ball that he believes could have helped send the San Francisco 49ers to the big game when they were in just about perfect position for a three-peat. Kansas City is the first team to reach the Super Bowl after winning the previous two, which means Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have done what Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Troy Aikman and Bradshaw couldn't before them. Now they'll try to finish the job Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. 'You got to have a lot of luck,' Lott said. 'You got to find moments where you want the ball to bounce your way. And then the other thing is, you've just got to get over the idea that nobody thinks you can do it.' There is one asterisk. Bart Starr led Green Bay to the 1965 NFL championship and the first two Super Bowl titles. Plus, John Elway retired after winning consecutive Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos. Bradshaw and those Steel Curtain teams lost to the Oakland Raiders, coached by the late Pro Football Hall of Famer John Madden, in the AFC championship game during Pittsburgh's first run as the two-time defending champ. The Steelers didn't even make the playoffs the second time around, which was four years later. 'Had we gotten to the Super Bowl, then I would say the chances of a three-peat would have been very good because you are a defending champion and you've experienced a Super Bowl and winning a Super Bowl,' Bradshaw said. 'It's that long, drawn out football season where you're just waiting to get to the playoffs. And it's a difficult task.' Roger Craig's late fumble is what most remember when the 49ers lost at home to the Giants 15-13 on New York's field goal on the final play of the NFC championship game after the 1990 season. Lott, however, recalls in vivid detail — 34 years later — an earlier play when the Hall of Fame safety says Jeff Hostetler lost control of the ball in the backfield with him blitzing, but the ball bounced the Giants quarterback's way instead of his. A second consecutive 14-2 season with Montana, Jerry Rice and John Taylor amounted to nothing in the minds of the Niners. Besides the luck of the bounce, Lott was quick to bring up the health of the players — as was Montana. 'The seasons are long. The offseasons are short,' Montana said. 'Usually you're not at 100% strength, your body doesn't have its usual time to prepare itself during the offseason. When you compound that over the years … it makes it even worse.' Aikman, running back Emmitt Smith and receiver Michael Irvin also got the Cowboys back to an NFC title game as two-time champs, but the Hall of Fame trio lost at San Francisco during the 1994 season, when Steve Young had taken over for Montana at QB. Daryl Johnston, the fullback when Dallas became the first to win three Super Bowls in a span of four seasons, believes the Cowboys had an asterisk of their own. After beating Buffalo for the title in consecutive years, owner Jerry Jones and coach Jimmy Johnson had their infamous and acrimonious split. Barry Switzer coached the team that fell short of a three-peat. In the 38-28 loss to the Niners, the Cowboys turned over the ball the first three times they had it and trailed 21-0 halfway through the first quarter. 'So, you lose your head coach,' Johnston said. 'Where would Kansas City be if they lost Andy Reid? And then to play the worst six minutes of football you've ever played as a group to start that game, it was just so unexpected.' Coach Vince Lombardi left the Packers after winning the first two Super Bowls, and Green Bay didn't make the playoffs the year Joe Namath led the New York Jets to their famous upset of Baltimore in Super Bowl III. The first of Miami's consecutive titles is still the only undefeated season of the Super Bowl era, the 17-0 run during the 1972 season. The Dolphins lost their playoff opener when they were two-time champs. The New England Patriots fell two victories short of a three-peat in 2005, the only chance they had to do that while winning six championships with Brady and coach Bill Belichick. Mahomes is well aware of the history as the Chiefs try to to shrug off talk of a three-peat. A victory Sunday would be the 29-year-old's fourth Super Bowl title. Brady was 37 when he won the fourth of his record seven. 'I think you always want to leave a legacy and kind of make your imprint on history, but more than anything, you just want to accomplish a goal that you have with your teammates,' Mahomes said. 'We know that's a hard process. We know it's hard week-in and week-out. But I'm proud of how our guys have kind of went about that process.' Bradshaw still talks about how hard trying to three-peat was on him. As part of the Fox television crew covering the Super Bowl, the Hall of Famer will share the stage with the winning team, which could mean handing the Lombardi Trophy to Mahomes. Bradshaw, 76, remembers having a similar chance at history with the Fox crew when Brady's 18-0 Patriots lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl to cap the 2007 season. 'So here I go again. Historical moment,' Bradshaw said. 'I have no way that I could sit here and say Kansas City is going to lose.' Originally Published: February 8, 2025 at 4:00 PM CST

Woman arrested for stealing from Super Bowl reporter found dead at hotel

Police are investigating the death of a television reporter who was in New Orleans to cover the Super Bow. Police on Friday announced the arrest of a woman they say used his credit card. Adan Manzano, 27, an anchor and reporter for Telemundo in Kansas City, Missouri, was found dead Wednesday in his hotel room in Kenner, a suburb just outside New Orleans, police said. Police on Thursday evening arrested Louisiana resident Danette Colbert, 49, who was charged with property crimes, including fraud and theft-related offenses, according to a press statement Friday. Colbert was seen on security video footage arriving with Manzano at his hotel room around 5 a.m. the day of his death and then leaving without him about an hour later, police said. She used Manzano's credit card at several stores around New Orleans and authorities later located Manzano's credit card and cellphone at Colbert's residence, they said. Police also uncovered narcotics and a stolen firearm at Colbert's residence, Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley said Friday during a press conference. Investigators believe Colbert acted alone, he said. Conley described Colbert as a 'career criminal' known to New Orleans police for 'fraud schemes.' 'Everybody should be aware of their surroundings,' Conley said. 'This brings to light that there are people out there that prey on other people and bring them into their confidence and victimize them.' A phone number affiliated with Colbert's residence was disconnected and no one responded to a message sent to an email associated with her. Police are awaiting the results of the coroner's full autopsy, which will determine whether Manzano's death was a homicide, Conley said. The coroner's office is conducting toxicology tests, and results are expected to take three to four weeks, Jefferson Parish Director of Forensic Operations Tim Genevay said. There was no obvious physical trauma found on Manzano's body, he added. Telemundo Kansas City General Manager Steve Downing said Manzano was a 'rising star' and 'true professional' — a bilingual television anchor and reporter who loved sports, and had covered the Kansas City Chiefs ' past two Super Bowl victories. He hoped to see a record third straight win Sunday. 'You would always see him with a smile on his face, he enjoyed the work that he did,' Downing said. 'He was very committed to serving the local community by providing them the best in sports news.' Manzano leaves behind a two-year-old daughter. He had been raising her on his own with help from family after his wife died last year in a car accident, Downing said.
