Super Bowl LIX betting tips: Chiefs to land historic three-peat

Super Bow betting tips
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in the 59th Super Bowl on Sunday night, with the Chiefs looking to land a historic 'three-peat' of titles in the biggest match in the sport.
It is the fifth time in the last six years that the Chiefs have reached the Super Bowl, they've already won three of those and they beat the Eagles in 2023 – triumphing 38-35 in a thriller at Super Bowl 57.
In 2025, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes once again played his part as his side earned a spectacular 32-29 win over the Bills in the AFC Championship game, making the Chiefs the first back-to-back champions in history to return to the Super Bowl.
And two years on from the narrow win that got the Chiefs their 2023 title, they will once again face the Eagles as they look to cement their NFL dynasty.
The Eagles earned a convincing 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in an impressive performance in the NFC Championship game, though NFL betting sites have them as slight underdogs at 1/1 compared to the 5/6 moneyline for the Chiefs.
The Chiefs only lost two matches this season on their way to New Orleans – with one coming as coach Andy Reid decided to rest Mahomes and other starters in the final game of the regular season against the Denver Broncos as the number one seed was already secured – and their big-game experience, combined with Mahomes' star quality, makes them difficult to wager against.
Nevertheless, the form of both sides is enough to give fans plenty of confidence. The Eagles themselves have only lost three times this season, and are led by the duo of quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley – who finished just 100 yards short of the NFL record for rushing yards (2,005) in the regular season.
Chiefs to land historic 'three-peat'
As mentioned above, the Chiefs' recent form means its difficult to see them losing on Sunday.
Earlier on in the season, the Super Bowl holders were a little more unconvincing, scraping some improbable wins, but their late-season and play-off form has been altogether more impressive.
In attack, while they ranked in 12th for points per game and 19th in yards per pass, few will wager against Mahomes and coach Andy Reid coming up with some moments of magic when the stakes are highest, as they did in 2023 against the Eagles.
In addition, unlike in previous years, it's been the Chiefs' defence that has arguably been their most impressive outlet, having ranked in the top 10 for opponent's points per game and points per play, as well as yards per game and red-zone touchdown percentage.
With the Eagles attack certainly the most fearsome feature of their team, if the Chiefs can keep Hurts and Barkley quiet, then they should earn a hattrick of Super Bowl wins – something that betting sites agree with, offering odds around 5/6 for the Chiefs to win.
Super Bowl LIX bet builder: Mahomes, Kelce and Barkley to star
Mahomes and Barkley are widely tipped to be the stars of Super Bowl LIX, with both having been their team's main men in the regular season and postseason (alongside Hurts for the Eagles, in Barkley's case). To that end, it might offer good value to create a bet builder with the game's biggest names.
While Mahomes has not quite recreated the superb form of previous regular seasons or playoffs this year, his Super Bowl performances speak for themselves, and he has consistently proved himself as the man for the big occasion, with his only Super Bowl loss coming against Tom Brady.
While Mahomes has averaged just 211 passing yards per game this postseason, he has averaged 267.8 passing yards over his four Super Bowl starts, and threw 245 yards in the win over the Bills, so the first part of our bet builder sees a wager on him to throw 250+ passing yards, which is 20/27 with bet365.
Moving on to Mahomes' Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce, the Ohio native might have experienced a slightly underwhelming regular season, but he remains Mahomes' go-to choice as receiver. If the quarterback is to throw 250 yards, Kelce will likely play a key part in that.
Kelce has the second-most receptions on the Chiefs in the postseason, with nine, and while he only earned 19 yards against the Bills, his eight receptions on Christmas Day and seven in the Divisional Round win prove that he remains one of the key men for the Chiefs attack, so a wager on 6+ receptions (at 20/33) forms part of our bet builder.
Finally, turning back to the Eagles' star man, Barkley has recorded 25 or more rushing attempts in four of his last five games, with the heavy win over the Commanders meaning he was allowed to rest somewhat.
Expected to be the main man in the Eagles attack, it should offer decent value to add him into our bet builder, with a price of 10/21 for 20+ rushing attempts giving us a final bet builder value of 3/1.

Joe Burrow, Bengals handle Commanders in preseason action

August 19 - Joe Burrow led the Bengals on two touchdown drives during the three possessions he played, helping Cincinnati post a 31-17 victory over the Washington Commanders on Monday in Landover, Md. Burrow (9-for-14, 62 yards) threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Jones early in the second quarter to tie the game 14-14. Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning (16-for-25, 159 yards) then connected with Mitchell Tinsley on scoring tosses of 13 and 21 yards to give the visitors a 28-14 halftime lead. Tinsley finished with five receptions for 73 yards, while Tahj Brooks gained 47 yards on 11 carries for the Bengals (1-1). Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels scrambled for a 14-yard touchdown to cap his lone series. After dropping back to pass and spotting no open receivers, he sidestepped defenders at the line of scrimmage, raced up the middle and broke a tackle at the 2-yard line before going in standing up. Daniels didn't throw a pass in his first action of the preseason. Chris Rodriguez Jr. ran six times for gained 62 yards for the Commanders (0-2). NFL fans and analysts condemn Cincinnati Bengals for Joe Burrow decision that's 'going to get him killed'

The Cincinnati Bengals have been destroyed by their own fans and NFL analysts after continuing to let Joe Burrow get dominated in a meaningless preseason game. The Bengals traveled to Washington DC to play the Commanders on Monday night, wrapping up the second week of preseason games as the new campaign approaches. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor handed Burrow and some of his other starters valuable reps early on during the game, as did the Commanders with Jayden Daniels scoring a touchdown at Northwest Stadium. But the Bengals' offensive line was completely overwhelmed by the Commanders defense, allowing Burrow to come under enormous amounts of pressure and even getting sacked. The sight of Burrow being chased around by defenders and getting tackled hard to the ground left uncomfortable Bengals fans watching through their fingers. When Burrow was not taken out of the game, they then quickly went to social media to vent at Taylor and his staff for continuing to put their franchise quarterback at risk. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor watches on as his franchise quarterback took heavy blows NFL reporter Albert Bree posted: 'Someone needs to take Joe Burrow's helmet and hide it now.' Another NFL reporter, Ari Meirov, added: 'Good lord. Get Joe Burrow out of the game. This is super unnecessary.' A fan posted: 'Even if Joe Burrow doesn't get injured, he is still getting banged up and that is one more week of damage he is taking'. Another commented: 'Joe Burrow has to get out of the @Bengals organization. Their front office is going to get him killed.' 'This is why you don't play your starting QB during preseason... Joe Burrow is going to get murdered out there,' one Bengals fan said. 'Are the Bengals trying to give every fan heart palpitations?' another asked. Another fan demanded the NFL 'end preseason games' because 'they mean nothing and are hurting players'. One asked 'What are they trying to prove?' while another demanded 'Zac Taylor needs to be fired'. It has not been a happy summer for the Bengals, who have failed to reach the playoffs in the last two seasons. The team is now listening to trade offers involving four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson amid an ongoing contract dispute. Hendrickson, who is slated to make $15.8million in base salary in 2025, has been seeking a new deal all offseason. In mid-May, the star pass rusher told reporters he wouldn't play this season unless he received a bump in pay. Hendrickson, 30, led the NFL in sacks last season with 17.5. He has 35 over the past two seasons and 57 in four seasons with the Bengals. He wants an increase in pay that will place him in the higher echelon of defensive players. Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt just landed the highest annual average salary in history for a defensive player at $41m. Over the offseason, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett ($40m AAV) and Los Angeles Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby ($35.5m) also landed huge deals. Hendrickson has been a Pro Bowl selection in all four of his seasons with Cincinnati. He played his first four seasons with the New Orleans Saints, serving as a backup for the first three campaigns. Hendrickson has 77 sacks, 220 tackles and 14 forced fumbles in 110 games.

Cam Ward fights with Tennessee Titans teammate Jeffery Simmons during heated practice in Nashville

Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft, had a fight with a Tennessee Titans teammate during practice on Monday. According to ESPN, the former Miami Hurricanes quarterback got into a scuffle with defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons as temperatures soared to 96 degrees in Nashville. Ward threw a touchdown pass to receiver Calvin Ridley near the end of the practice and went to celebrate with his offensive teammates. As he did so, Ward reportedly stopped and pushed Simmons before performing his customary 'Zombieland' celebration in front of the defensive player. That did not go down well with Simmons, who has been with the Titans since 2019, and he responded with a two-handed shove to Ward's face mask. Ward's offensive linemen quickly rushed in to help him. When asked about people putting hands on the quarterback, left tackle Dan Moore Jr. said: 'Absolutely not. That goes without saying.' It's claimed that Simmons' helmet was knocked off during the incident, which was eventually diffused. Ward took part in the next play but Simmons came off the field before practice ended shortly after. Titans head coach Brian Callahan reportedly made his players run when practice finished two plays later. Tensions were clearly high because just before the fight with Ward, Simmons was mocked by right tackle JC Latham after his block on Simmons allowed running back Julius Chestnut to score a touchdown. Simmons has reportedly been trash-talking the Titans offense a lot in recent days, specifically targeting Latham and Ward. The Titans are a work in progress going into the new NFL season, rebuilding after three straight losing seasons and leaning heavily on rookie Ward and a lot of other young players. They just wrapped up a two-game road swing by beating Atlanta 23-20 on Friday night. They lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 9. Ward is 7 of 15 for 109 yards passing over five series through the first two preseason games.
