Haiden Deegan signs contract extension with Yamaha, will race out of 450 rig in 2026
Haiden Deegan will compete in the 250 Supercross class in 2026 and move into the 450 class for the Pro Motocross season after signing a multi-year extension with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. He will compete out of the 450 rig for both divisions before moving into the 450 class fulltime for Pro Motocross. 'I am pumped to re-sign with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing,' Deegan said in a press release. 'The plan will be to race the 250 in Supercross, and then make the move to the 450 class for Motocross and SMX. I'm grateful for the opportunity and more fired up than ever. Let's keep grinding.' In his brief professional career, Deegan has won six championships in SuperMotocross competition. He is the reigning champion of the Pro Motocross, Supercross, and SuperMotocross League on a 250. In the seasons he did not win, Deegan finished second in the 250 SX East division in 2023 and 2024. 'Yamaha Racing is excited to announce that Haiden Deegan has signed a multi-year contract to continue with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team,' said Jim Roach, Yamaha Racing Department Manager for Yamaha US. 'Since joining the team, Haiden has earned significant achievements, and we look forward to continuing that success as he graduates to the 450 team.' Deegan intends to race in the 450 division in Pro Motocross as early as the 2025 season finale, if he has clinched the 250 title before the season finale, which will be held at Budds Creek MX Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland. Deegan has been training on a 450 bike during the off weeks between the Washougal National and this weekend's race at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Loretta Lynn's Lap-a-Thon Benefitting St. Jude Kids returns for 2025
The SuperMotocross League (SMX), in partnership with Pro Motocross, announced the return of the Loretta Lynn's Lap-a-Thon Benefitting St. Jude Kids for the 44th annual Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. Proceeds will go to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is part of the ongoing Love Moto Stop Cancer initiative that also includes the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, the Pro Motocross Championship, and the SMX World Championship. Known as the Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championship because it is run on Hurricane Mills property once owned by the Country and Western singing icon, this race is the premier event in amateur racing. Over the course of the weekend, which begins Sunday, July 27, 2025, 108 motos will be run in 36 classes of competition. Each of an estimated 1,000 competitors will run in at least three motos during the week ending Saturday August 2, when the class champions will be crowned. Estimates are that more than 36,000 laps will be run, and each of them will benefit St. Jude. Every racer has the opportunity to register and begin their fundraising journey at the Ranch, where family, friends, and sponsors can contribute to the cause. 'I'm very fortunate to have had the chance to visit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and have personally engaged with both patients and the selfless team of doctors and hospital staff. To see the work they do firsthand and to hear directly from the families receiving care is incredible and has stuck with me,' said Tim Cotter, Director of Operations, MX Sports. 'There is a community at St. Jude and we're also a community at Loretta Lynn's Ranch. One of the greatest and most rewarding opportunities is when one community can help another in need and that serves as the inspiration for the Lap-a-Thon. To rally our athletes, come together as a community, and provide support to those in need. When it comes down to it, it's kids helping kids.' Remote fans can visit the fundraising page on St. Jude's website to sign up and support the cause and athletes. For a single athlete, each $1 donation per lap will raise up to $12 to $39. If a patron wishes to sponsor an entire class, that could raise up to $504 to $1,638, so there are sponsorships to fit every budget. In its ninth year of partnership, the SMX League has raised more than $2.5M for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through various annual fundraising campaigns including, the Love Moto Stop Cancer text-to-donate T-shirt campaign, Love Moto Stop Cancer dedicated race, the St. Jude - Supercross online auction, Ken Roczen's Kickstart for A Cause Bike Giveaway Sweepstakes, and the Rocky Mountain ATV MC Love Moto Stop Cancer Golf Tournament benefitting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. SuperMotocross Championship leader Cooper Webb injures knee at RedBud, out until playoffs
Cooper Webb will skip the remainder of the Pro Motocross season after injuring his knee in qualification for the RedBud Nationals. He completed the round despite his injury and finished ninth overall with a 15th-place result in Moto 1 and an eighth in Moto 2. 'I'm extremely bummed that I'll be missing the upcoming rounds of Pro Motocross,' Webb said on social media. 'I had a personal goal to make all 31 rounds this season and I'm disappointed to surrender the SMX championship lead this way. On the positive side, it's a quick fix and recovery. I'll get a small procedure done on Monday and should be back on the bike in around a month so that we can prepare for the opening playoff round in Charlotte.' After winning the Monster Energy Supercross championship, Webb entered the outdoor season with the SuperMotocross League points lead. He maintained it through the first six rounds of Pro Motocross, despite a charge by his teammate, Justin Cooper. Webb left RedBud with a 14-point lead over Cooper. According to Star Yamaha, Webb 'will undergo a minor procedure to have his knee cleaned up.' Webb finished fifth in last year's SuperMotocross World Championship with results of 10th in Concord, North Carolina, and two fifth-place results at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, and Las Vegas (Nevada) Motor Speedway. Webb was fourth in the inaugural SMX playoffs in 2023. Julien Beaumer to sit out Spring Creek and Washougal to heal from High Point crash
Red Bull KTM and Julien Beaumer have mutually decided to sit out the next two rounds at Spring Creek in Millville, Minnesota, and Washougal, Washington, to allow the rider to heal from the ongoing effects of a heavy crash in the High Point Nationals in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. There will be a two-week hiatus following Washougal for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Nationals, which gives Beaumer a month to recover before the final three rounds of the 2025 Pro Motocross season. 'Wanted to hop on here and give you guys an update for myself,' Beaumer said in a social media post. 'Unfortunately, these last two weekends have been very subpar, and I've been very frustrated. After racing Saturday, the team advised me to go see some doctors and try to figure out what's going on. Obviously, I had that big crash in High Point and I haven't really felt like myself since then. ... I'm still suffering from some lingering effects of the crash I sustained in High Point and the doctor advised me it's best if I take a couple of weekends off and get back to a hundred percent.' Beaumer started the Motocross season strong, with top-five finishes in Round 1 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, and in the brutally hot Hangtown Motocross Classic the following week. He failed to crack the top 15 in Round 3 at Thunder Valley in Lakewood, Colorado, crashed at High Point, and was outside the top 15 in the two most recent rounds while riding injured. 'I'm disappointed,' Beaumer continued. 'I feel like I've let my team, everyone in my corner, down. I feel like we have a pretty promising start to the season in the first two rounds. It's disappointing to have to take a couple of rounds off. I'm frustrated, but I'm going to get back to a hundred percent and hopefully return to Ironman a hundred percent ready to go.' Beaumer is currently sixth in combined SuperMotocross League points with a 181-point gap to 21st in the standings, so there is little danger of dropping that far down the order. The top 20 riders in combined Supercross and Motocross points at the end of the Motocross season receive an automatic invitation to the SuperMotocross League playoffs. Motocross 2025 450 results, highlights, finish at RedBud: Jett Lawrence remains unstoppable
The final box score revealed yet another moto sweep for Jett Lawrence at RedBud MX Park in Buchanan, Michigan, but so much more happened before the drop of the final checkered flag. Jett revealed yet again that he has been toying with the competition. After last week's absolutely dominant performance at Southwick, Jett showed a different side to his strength. He won Moto 1 in his usual manner (with a margin of 16 seconds), but got a poor start in Moto 2. While trying to make up the differential, he crashed on Lap 1 and completed that lap in 18th. Jett passed five riders on Lap 2 and was inside the top 10 by Lap 3. One lap later, he was in the top five and had a podium position by Lap 6. In 11 laps, Jett passed nearly half the field and established his lead, which he then stretched to more than eight seconds. When the dust settled, he earned the maximum number of points (50) and ended with a points lead greater than one full round. Equally important, there was a change of position in second behind him because of a horrible outing for Eli Tomac. Click here for a recap of RedBud Hunter Lawrence finished second in Moto 1 in a secure spot, 16 seconds behind Jett and nearly 13 seconds ahead of RJ Hampshire, who scored his first moto podium of 2025. Hunter was passed by Justin Cooper late in the second race and lost an additional two points to his brother, but he left Michigan second in the championship standings. He is currently 51 points behind Jett. Cooper still seeks his first moto win in the 450 division, but he replicated his best result with a second-place finish in Moto 2. Coupled with a fourth in the first race, he finished third overall, earned five points more than the SuperMotocross League points leader, Chase Sexton, and closed in on the No. 1 seed for the playoffs. Hampshire's third-place finish in Moto 1 is a career best. So is his fourth-place overall showing after he finished sixth in the second moto. Last week at Southwick, he came close to cracking the top five with a sixth overall. Relive Moto 1 Sexton returned to racing even though he might not have been 100 percent. Partly that was in an attempt to stave off the charge by Cooper for the top playoff seed, and partly because it's difficult to sit on the sidelines too long. Sexton revealed he has been battling health issues more than an injury, but even at a diminished capacity, he finished in the top five overall with results of fifth and fourth. For a little while, it appeared Jorge Prado might get his first moto win. With Jett momentarily sidelined in Moto 2, Pardo led the first five laps. He faded to fifth at the checkers and finished sixth overall when his seventh-place Moto 1 result was added. RedBud was disastrous for Tomac. He entered the race second in points, but still had a longshot chance to catch Jett. His bike had a different idea; it retired on Lap 10 while he was running third in Moto 1. Demoralized and suffering from a poor gate pick for the second race, he finished only seventh in Moto 2 to earn 15 points during the weekend. Tomac dropped to fourth in the Pro Motocross standings. Tony Cairoli debuted the new Ducati dirt bike at RedBud and got off to a promising start with a ninth-place finish in Moto 1. The bike did not withstand the strain of Moto 2, but Cairoli was scored 14th overall.
