Britain's oldest drag queen Maisie Trollette dies aged 91
A performer labelled Britain's oldest drag queen has died aged Raven, known by the alter ego Maisie Trollette, became one of the icons of Brighton Pride, having taken part at the event when it began in in 1933, Ms Trollette commenced a long and celebrated career as part of the Trollettes double act, alongside Jimmy Inscoe, a West End performer and close friend, said: "He was an absolute legend in the entertainment industry, particularly in cabaret and pantomime." He described Ms Trollette as "extraordinary" and highlighted his charity work, which included traveling to Thailand to raise funds for an orphanage."He had warmth and wit," he said. 'True cabaret legend' Fellow drag star La Voix, who competed at RuPaul's Drag Race UK, said: "We lost a true cabaret legend."I have the fondest memories of Maisie Trollette and being lucky enough to work the cabaret scene both in London, Brighton and many prides with her."Her acid tongue always put me in my place and I loved her for it. She said to me, 'never be afraid of youth, La Voix'."The Sussex Beacon, a Brighton-based charity which provides specialist care and support for people living with HIV, said Ms Trollette brought "immense joy to countless numbers of people within the LGBT community"."His compassion, generosity, kindness and razor-sharp wit will never be forgotten," a spokesperson said."Rest in peace David. Thank you so much, for everything."

About 10,00 people are taking part in the Brighton half-marathon
More than 10,000 runners are preparing to take part in the 35th Brighton Half event kicks off at at 09:30 GMT, starting and ending at Hove race will follow its usual route, despite demolition work on the Royal Albion hotel which led to the seafront road being closed for a of thousands of spectators are expected to line the route, with comedian and actor Joe Wilkinson officially starting the race. Sussex: Joe Wilkinson named as Brighton Half Marathon starter
Comedian and actor Joe Wilkinson has been announced as the official race starter for the upcoming Brighton Half of people will flock to Brighton on 2 March to take part in the race, which raises more than £1m for Sussex charities each year."I'm really looking forward to starting this year's Brighton Half Marathon and then being beaten by about 99% of those runners," said famous faces set to take part include Chris Oliver, from Channel 4's SAS Who Dares Wins, broadcaster and presenter Bobby Seagull and actor Craig Parkinson. The stars are all running for the race's main partner, HIV charity The Sussex Beacon, in support of its Formula Milk programme provides free formula milk for babies of 20 mothers living with HIV."The Sussex Beacon is a wonderful charity and it's an honour to support them in any way I can," Wilkinson year's event will be held on Hove Lawns for the first time. The youth races take place on 1 March and the half marathon, wheelchair race and Sussex Beacon Charity Relay the following day.
