Harry, Hermione and Ron are cast for HBO's Harry Potter
NEW YORK - Accio Harry, Hermione and Ron! After years of intense speculation and tens of thousands of auditions, three young actors have been cast for HBO's upcoming television series about the boy wizard. Newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout will play Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Warner Bros Discovery announced on May 27. In April, HBO announced it had cast American actor John Lithgow as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry's headmaster Albus Dumbledore as well as British actors Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The show, which will air on HBO and stream on Max, still does not have an official title or air date. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,' Francesca Gardiner, the showrunner of the series, and Mark Mylod, who will direct several episodes, said in a statement about the child actors. They added, 'It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.' This is Stanton's first on-screen role, but she previously starred in Matilda on London's West End in 2023. She was one of four girls who played the title role. The Harry Potter film franchise accelerated the career of English actor Daniel Radcliffe, who has since anchored movies like Swiss Army Man (2016) and won a Tony Award in 2024 for his work in Merrily We Roll Along. Radcliffe starred in eight Harry Potter films from 2001 through 2011 alongside English actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who played Hermione and Ron. HBO has said the new television series will be a 'faithful adaptation' of the seven books written by British author JK Rowling that were published between 1997 and 2007. You can now stream one of the decade's best movies for free — watch ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once' on Tubi
Tubi is the best free streaming service in the business, and it just got another string to its bow; it welcomed one of the decade's best movies to its content library this month. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's — aka the "Daniels" — absurd independent sci-fi action-adventure 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' arrived like a bolt from the blue when it first hit movie theaters in 2022. It earned rave reviews, impressing at the box office, and scooping up no less than seven Oscars, including Best Picture and wins for lead Michelle Yeoh (Best Actress) and Ke Huy Quan (Best Supporting Actor). In short, it's an outstanding, ambitious watch from the directing duo behind 2016's 'Swiss Army Man,' and one that's surely going to be celebrated by movie lovers time and time again — including me. Right now, as I urge you to stream 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' for free on Tubi. If you've not come across the movie before, you can find more info and a round-up of critical opinions on 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' below. The Daniels' Oscar winning movie is a hilarious and heart-warming action movie that centers on a stressed-out Chinese-American laundromat owner, Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh). Evelyn is just trying to file her taxes, but it seems like the entire multiverse is conspiring against her. During an unpleasant IRS audit appointment, Evelyn finds herself swept along on a wild adventure wherein she's told she is the only person capable of saving existence as we know it. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. How? By "verse-jumping" to tap into her other selves living across the infinite multiverse and deploying the skills the other Evelyns possess in her other, parallel lives in an action-packed, unpredictable adventure. In addition to Yeoh, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' also stars Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu, Jamie Lee Curtis, James Hong, Jenny Slate, and Harry Shum Jr. Chances are, you've already heard plenty of people recommend 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' over these last couple of years, but if you haven't, allow me: this is an awesome ride from start to finish, and one you should make time to stream ASAP. Even if I didn't quite get on with some of the sillier elements (looking at the 'hot dog fingers' escapade, for example), it's hard not to argue that 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' is an utter triumph. It's a kinetic wonder that never really lets up, is stuffed with impressive fight sequences, comedy, and emotion, and it's a modern movie everyone really should give a chance if they haven't already. It's not just me who rates 'Everything Everywhere All At Once', either; the movie comes highly recommended by critics. As of the time of writing, it holds a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (aggregated from over 400 reviews). The site's critical consensus reads 'incredible acting, stunning visuals, and a really deep, powerful story — 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' has it all', and individual critics have plenty of positive things to say about the movie, too. Take Ben Travis' 5-star review for Empire, for example. Travis calls 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' 'everything cinema was invented for', labeling the movie 'a pure firework display of technical bravado, wild invention, emotional storytelling, comedic genius, action mastery, and outstanding performances.' Likewise, at Marya E. Gates rated the movie 3.5/4 stars, calling it a 'love letter to genre cinema' and labeling the adventure 'an emotional, philosophical, and deeply weird trip through the looking glass into the multiverse.' Gates (like many others) also heaped praise on Yeoh's performance; 'she is a movie star and this is a movie that knows it.' Finally, Little White Lies' Weiting Liu called the movie 'a macro cinematic feast', writing: 'Paying tribute to the vast repertoire of Hollywood classics and world cinema, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' strikes an immaculate balance between mind-blowing originality and nostalgic cinephilia.' If you've grown a little tired of the dominant franchises or big names in modern cinema, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' is a breath of fresh air, one that I wholeheartedly recommend, especially now that it's streaming for free on Tubi. If you really aren't interested (or you've seen 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' recently and are on the hunt for something else to stream, we can still help. Daniel Radcliffe joins Tracy Morgan's new NBC comedy pilot from '30 Rock' team
Tracy Morgan's untitled NBC comedy pilot has bagged none other than Daniel Radcliffe. The Harry Potter and Swiss Army Man actor has joined the cast of the comedy — about a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image — from the 30 Rock creative team. Radcliffe will play Arthur Tobin, an award-winning filmmaker who moves into Reggie's (Morgan) mansion to shoot an immersive documentary about the erstwhile star athlete. The show hails from Morgan's 30 Rock costar Tina Fey, who will executive-produce alongside her former 30 Rock creative teammates Robert Carlock and Sam Means. Carlock and Means will also write the comedy, which has tapped Rhys Thomas as director and executive producer for the pilot episode. Related: Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey to have 30 Rock reunion with NBC comedy pilot about disgraced football player Radcliffe has worked with Fey and company before, appearing as Prince Frederick in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend. Radcliffe's last recurring TV role was on the anthology comedy Miracle Workers. His other recent credits include the movies Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and The Lost City, and a voice role on the animated Netflix series Mulligan. He also recently completed a sold-out run of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along, which earned him his first Tony Award at the 2024 ceremony as well as a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theatre Album. Related: Daniel Radcliffe says it would be 'very weird' for him to appear in the Harry Potter TV series As for Morgan, his last recurring TV role was on sitcom The Last O.G. He's also set to star on the Paramount+ comedy series Crutch, premiering later this year. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in 2018, Morgan looked back at his time with the 30 Rock team with fondness and said the show "saved" him. "Being on that show kept me busy," he recalled. "I was sober then. I was able to do Tracy Jordan without having to have a drink. Tina Fey saw me partying at the after-parties of Saturday Night Live, so she [drew from] that. I didn't have to be in the picture — I could paint the picture. I got crazy without actually having to drink. And that saved me." Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
