Father, son held in murder case
Police claimed to have arrested a man and his son accused of kidnapping and murdering 72-year-old Farukh Shakeel, a close friend of the main suspect. According to investigators, the victim was invited to the suspect's residence, force-fed Capoten tablets to lower his blood pressure and then strangled to death. The body was later burned near the Jaranwala Motorway rest area in an attempt to destroy evidence. Despite the killing, the suspects subsequently demanded ransom from the victim's daughter, leading to their arrest. Lahore's Investigation Wing has cracked multiple high-profile criminal cases, including murder, abduction, and organised theft, according to a performance report presented by DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza during a media briefing at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. The report covers the period from January 1 to July 28. In another case, North Cantt police arrested a man accused of murdering his 10-year-old daughter, Iman Fatima. The child reportedly sustained fatal injuries after being beaten with bricks during a domestic altercation and later died at Services Hospital. Sabzazar police arrested three fugitives involved in the shooting death of their landlord, Wajid Hussain. The suspects, reportedly a father and his two sons, had allegedly killed Hussain following a dispute over vacating a rented property and fled to a tribal area. They were apprehended after an investigation led police to their location. In the area of property crime, Gulshan Ravi police arrested three members of a professional theft ring, including its leader. The gang had broken into a garments store at night and stolen merchandise worth millions of rupees. A substantial portion of the stolen items was recovered during the operation. Separately, Ichhra police arrested a suspect involved in a major gold and cash heist from a local shop. The accused, an employee of the store, broke into the shop's locker and made off with 85 tolas of gold and a large sum of cash. Police recovered Rs100,000 in cash and the stolen gold during the arrest.

Police bust fraud gangs, recover record millions
Police's Organised Crime Unit has arrested seven members of three gangs involved in fraud and seized nearly Rs240 million in cashthe largest single seizure in the city's history, officials announced on Saturday. The arrests were announced during a press conference held in Model Town by DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza and DSP Chaudhry Faisal Sharif, who led the high-stakes operation. The accusedShahid Akram (ringleader), Aamir Ali, Nazeer Ahmed, Khalid Mahmood, Khizar Hayat, Imran Shah, and Talat Butt — allegedly secured jobs in reputable companies, committed large-scale frauds, and vanished without a trace. Along with the cash recovery, police also seized clothing worth Rs1.8 million, with more recoveries expected as investigations unfold. DIG Raza credited the success of the operation to the use of advanced technology and collaboration with IT experts, calling it a "complex case" that required meticulous planning and execution. DSP Sharif said that the suspects would face the full force of the law, with the prosecution already working to build a strong case for conviction. The officials reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks. Meanwhile, nine police officials were handed down penalties for misconduct. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran presided over the weekly Orderly Room at Police Lines, where he reviewed the performance, discipline and conduct of personnel. According to the spokesperson, 19 officials were punished for negligence, carelessness, corruption and misuse of authority. Three appeals against previous disciplinary actions were rejected. The DIG stated that an effective and transparent self-accountability system was in place in the department. Over the past 11 months, 357 personnel have faced departmental action, including dismissal of four inspectors, three sub-inspectors and 10 other officials.
