TLCA teachers receive $155,000 in incentives
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — May 7 was a big day for educators across the TLCA network of schools especially for the ones from San Angelo and Adeliene. 14 TLCA Teachers were honored with checks totaling up to $155,000 during a special luncheon on May 7. It is part of the teacher incentive allotment created in 2019 through House Bill 3 to reward top performing educators, help keep great teachers in the classroom and to attract new ones. 'It's a significant check it can be anywhere from $3,200 to $32,000,' said Dan Dukes the Chief Academic Officer for Texas Leadership Public Schools. Teens of the Concho Valley: Local students serve meals at Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health
Although some school activities are winding down, sports and clubs are staying busy at tournaments, banquets and serving those around the Concho Valley. Lake View's Spanish club helped set up and serve meals made with Central High School and TLCA students on Monday and Tuesday at the McNease Convention Center for the annual Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health presentation. The groups served over 600 guests during the luncheon, which provides funds for women affected by breast cancer. Students learned the importance of life skills, service and giving back to the community while they listened to guest speaker and former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino. A banquet was held for Lake View basketball and powerlifting on Monday to help uplift their players and students.
