Zahid urges Umno members to bury the hatchet for GE16 win
PASIR SALAK: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on party members to put aside past disputes and unite for victory in the 16th General Election (GE16). Zahid who is also deputy prime minister referenced the rivalry between former Umno Supreme Council member and Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Pasir Salak Umno division chief Khairul Azwan Harun. Speaking at the Felcra Berhad Interim Dividend Declaration 1/2025 ceremony in Seberang Perak, he said that unity was key to electoral success. He joked that applause from the audience might have been louder if a proposal to relocate GiatMARA in Pasir Salak had come from Tajuddin rather than Khairul Azwan. "Perhaps the applause was less enthusiastic because it was Azwan Bro (Khairul Azwan) who made the request. If it had come from Tajuddin, it might have been louder. But that does not matter, I will ensure both reconcile for the sake of the constituency and its two state seats. What's past is past. We move forward. As a Perak son, Insya Allah, we can achieve victory if we build unity," he said. Both Tajuddin and Khairul Azwan were present at the event, along with Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang and Felcra CEO Datuk Idris Lasim. The rivalry between Tajuddin and Khairul Azwan dates back to June 2023, when Tajuddin reportedly demanded an apology over alleged sabotage during the 15th General Election (GE15). Zahid, who is also the current Pasir Salak MP, confirmed his approval of Khairul Azwan's proposal to relocate the GiatMARA training centre from Kampung Gajah to Ulu Dedap. "I have agreed to relocate the centre to a new site with courses tailored to local needs, including machinery and agricultural equipment repair," he added.

Malaysian Professor Explains How Overreacting To Flag Blunders Only Breeds Fear
Subscribe to our FREE In light of the flag fiascos recently, socio-political expert Professor Dr Mohamad Tajuddin Mohamad Rasdi said in a YouTube video that he is afraid and sad to raise the Jalur Gemilang in his home and car this National Day. He has also advised his family not to put up flags this year. READ MORE: Tajuddin shared that we were supposed to love our flag with pride but the current reactions to those who made mistakes regarding the flag have become a political tool to attack others and incite hatred in one another. He added that there are people who accuse those who made mistakes with the flag as traitors and disloyal to the country. Due to the strong reactions, Tajuddin said he has a great fear of putting up flags for Merdeka this year. He asked what happens when a ''stupid'' person sees the flag with minor errors on his car or outside his home and without asking for an explanation, decides to make the issue viral online and gain views. Tajuddin said the comments would come in and claim all sorts of things about him and the unfounded claims would cause big problems for his family as well. He added the issue would also serve as an excuse for a politician or two to use to attack other races and divide us all further. He believes it's better not to put up the flags to prevent these potential issues and to protect the harmony in the country. He admitted that it's not a good sentiment to have during this Merdeka and Malaysia Day because it should be a time of celebration. However, the negative attitudes of some people preying on innocent people who made simple mistakes regarding the flag have taken out the joy from everyone. Tajuddin also posed a question, 'Are we honouring the people of this country or are we honouring a piece of cloth or the poster?' He said what makes Malaysia is the people and not the flag; the idea that all races are united under the concept of Malaysia and pursuing common goals despite our different cultures. He explained that those who harp on the flag issue are displaying false patriotism. He described these people as opportunists who are not interested in protecting the country. Tajuddin believes the flag is supposed to unite everyone but these bad hats have destroyed the morale of our own people. Moving forward, he reminded people to practice compassion, tolerance, and courtesy (adab) when others make mistakes like the recent flag blunders. READ MORE: Tajuddin's sentiment is shared by many who fear the Jalur Gemilang they fly outside their homes will be sabotaged by others. The flags could be blown the wrong way by the wind but someone with ill intentions might create a different narrative and get similar thinking people to attack the innocent person. Despite Tajuddin's explanations, some have a hard time understanding the fear the recent reactions to flag blunders have resulted. Dare not put up Jalur Gemilang this yr which I have been doing for past 21yrs. Fear to be called up for whatever reason, like too old, dirty due to exposure, the wind blow the flag upside down, not upright enough, etc. So won't put up this yr not unpatriotic but fear of being charged. — Lee Hwa Beng (@hwabeng) We know how to put up the flag but mistakes do happen which are not intentional and we will be arrested because the "patriotic" will never accept our apology. So it is better to lock up the flag — Steven Liew (@StevenLiew7170) Saya takut ada orang sabotage atau angin tiup rosak tanpa saya tahu. — Lee Hwa Beng (@hwabeng) it is interesting.. coz bendera koyak n lusuh r everywhere (flown by all races n businesses) no one actually bats an eye its always on bendera terbalik .. for some unknown reason, u almost never hear it happened made by indians.. or malays.. or borneons.. not sure why 🤔 — abolish UNSC veto (@janggut34544893) Exactly, ppl say 'oh its so simple' when clearly 99% an accident (eg. Faulty equipment, wind, genuine mistake). Why would anyone invite trouble into a simple flag issue? When so many ppl from diff bg have made mistakes, its always the msian minorities being bashed for it the most — Anxious for Msia (@anxioustapir) Simple things can cause a mistake, you ever tripped while walking? Typo a message? Politicians who use 3R blow this issue out of proportion. Raising the flag properly is important, but this mistake like every other action is 1% of 99% perfectly hung flags. — Anxious for Msia (@anxioustapir) Share your thoughts with us via TRP's . Conspiracies, mindgames, personality cult: Manash Ghosh's book Mujib's Blunders 's shows how from Mujib to Hasina the Bangladesh story is unfolding
From your book, there was a Sheikh Mujib who went to jail, and another who came out of it. He didn't seem to know his friends from his enemies. He had many character frailties. He used to be surrounded by sycophants. He allowed his ears to be poisoned with all kinds of things, especially about people like Tajuddin—the conspirators knew Tajuddin was onto their game, and so he had to be kept away from Mujib at all costs. Pakistani then premier Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who released him from jail, also played mind games with him, suggesting that while he still languished in jail, his trusted lieutenant had already made himself prime minister with Indira Gandhi's help. The seeds of suspicion were thus sown in Mujib's mind about the people whom he should have trusted more. His nephew, Sheikh Moni, strengthened those suspicions as he had ambitions of being Mujib's successor; he insinuated that Tajuddin was growing 'too ambitions'. The truth is that Tajuddin came over to India on Mujib's instruction, and sought Mrs Gandhi's help when Pakistan started the military crackdown in East Pakistan. Mujib had already made him the head of an interim government. One of the readings of your book seems to be that Tajuddin would have been a better first prime minister of an independent Bangladesh. He was, indeed, the first prime minister of independent Bangladesh, and it's wrong to say that he was the prime minister of an interim government, as that interim government was, in fact, the de facto first government of independent Bangladesh, and he was its prime minister. He had great organisational ability – the ability to bring together people of all political hues and effect unity among all the pro-liberation forces. He said he was the Bharata of the Ramayana, carrying out the duties of Rama – i.e., he was filling in for Bongobondhu [as Sheikh Mujib was called] till his return. Would you say that the repatriation issue and the clash of interests among former senior Pakistan government personnel and out-of-turn promotions of mukti jodhas [freedom fighters], many of them with no proven administrative skills, were among the key reasons why the Mujib government, which assumed power on a huge wave of goodwill, was eventually set on disaster mode? Would you say that was one of his key blunders? Fidel Castro had warned Mujib: 'I hear that you are you are putting the repatriates from Pakistan in key government positions. This is a dangerous precedent. You are setting the country up for counter-revolution. When I threw Batista out of power in Cuba, I weeded out all his trusted men and replaced them with my own men.' Mujib felt there will be a change of heart if he gives them responsibilities and gives them space. He, in fact, made the intelligence chief of Pakistan, his vigilance commissioner—the net result was that he was able to spy on him better and pass on crucial information to his former Pakistani masters so that the conspiracy was able to fructify.

Tajuddin tops G7 vote in Pasir Salak, marks return to Umno General Assembly
IPOH: Former Umno Supreme Council member, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, has demonstrated that his political influence remains strong after emerging as the top vote-getter in the G7 selection for the Pasir Salak Umno Division. With this result, Tajuddin will represent the division at the 2025 Umno General Assembly. He secured 376 votes, followed by his wife, Datin Seri Rohkiah Abdul Samat, who also achieved an impressive result with 362 votes, surpassing the other candidates during the Pasir Salak Umno Division meeting on Sunday. The G7 refers to a group of delegates elected during Umno division-level meetings to represent their divisions at the Umno General Assembly. Umno Pasir Salak Division deputy chief Mohd Nazari Sabran said the result reflects the continued strong grassroots support for Tajuddin and his wife's political struggle. "I would like to express my appreciation and deepest thanks to all Umno Pasir Salak Division delegates who attended and committed to the recent division meeting. "Congratulations to all successful G7 candidates, especially to Ayahanda Datuk Seri Tajuddin and Bonda Datin Seri Rohkiah for their outstanding victory. "This clearly shows that members' confidence in their leadership remains firm and unwavering," he said in a Facebook post yesterday. Mohd Nazari also emphasised his commitment to continue serving the party and strengthening unity among Umno Pasir Salak members. Tajuddin was suspended from Umno for six years in October 2022 over his criticism of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. On Nov 25 last year, Umno lifted the six-year suspension of Tajuddin, effective immediately. Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was made in accordance with the party's constitution. The Supreme Council unanimously agreed to revoke Tajuddin's suspension in accordance with Clause 10.6 and Clause 5.3 of the party's constitution. On Sunday, Zahid praised Tajuddin's persistence and sincerity in returning to the party after being expelled. Zahid said Tajuddin had met the Prime Minister three times, asking to be accepted again as an Umno member and expressing his wish to "die as an Umno member." "He sent his wife, children, son-in-law, submitted three appeal letters, and even attended the General Assembly and several by-elections," Zahid said.

Mohd Salim appeals for reinstatement amid Umno suspension
SEREMBAN: Former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Sharif hopes the Umno leadership will favourably consider his appeal following his suspension from the party. Mohd Salim said he had submitted a second appeal to have his suspension lifted in April following the first one last year. "I sincerely hope the party leadership will consider my appeals. "Although I have been suspended, I have remained loyal to Umno and have been actively supporting members, especially in Jempol," he said on Monday (June 10). Mohd Salim said he had never once considered quitting the party ever since he was suspended. "Umno has been my party from day one. "Although there had been lots of talk previously that I would quit the party and join another, I have proven my loyalty to Umno," he said. Mohd Salim was suspended for six years, along with several others, by the party in January 2023 for breaching party discipline. On Sunday, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party had only received applications from two members to have their suspensions lifted. Apart from Mohd Salim, the other application was from former Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman. Umno's supreme council had, on Nov 24 last year, unanimously decided to lift Tajuddin's suspension, reinstating him as an Umno member, effective immediately. Tajuddin's membership was suspended for six years from Sept 2022 for criticising the party, including matters related to the timing of the 15th General Election (GE15). Last week, Ahmad Zahid said the party's supreme council will also look into a request by Sembrong Umno to lift the six-year suspension of former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein after the party's political bureau reviews the motion. He said Hishamuddin had, however, yet to submit any appeal or apology over the matter.
