Trail Blazers foundation gives $100K towards school grants
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Trail Blazers announced Monday they are giving away a total of $100,000 in education grants through the 'Take It To The Court for Education' program.
Thirteen scholarships will be shared throughout 12 counties in Oregon and Washington.
Blazers Foundation Executive Director and Trail Blazers Vice President of Community Programs, Annie Klug, said, 'We're excited to once again distribute school grants across Oregon and Southwest Washington to invest in youth where they live, learn, and play.'
She continued, 'These schools and the amazing people behind their programs have an incredible impact on our youth. We can't wait to see the positive impact these grants will have on current and future students.'
The grants will also go towards the communities surrounding the school districts, supporting athletics, arts, and a variety of academic programs.
Thirteen school representatives were welcomed into the Moda Center on April 6 for a pregame celebration with Trail Blazers employees and Foundation Board members.

Chiloquin Junio/Senior High School (Klamath)
Updated modern equipment for school weight room
Edwards Elementary School (Yamhill)

Fort Vancouver High School (Clark)
'LLNW Unidos Student Leadership Initiative' in partnership with MEChA and other student-led organizations
Harkins House within Oak Street Campus (Washington)
Art and digital photography supplies for expanded elective courses
Heron Creek Therapeutic School (Clackamas)
STEM, arts, athletics, community engagement, and summer programming for special education and behavioral populations
Jason Lee Elementary School (Multnomah)
Replacing outdoor athletic equipment
Kids Unlimited Academy (Jackson)
Food for Thoughtfulness program encouraging culinary skills, career training, and entrepreneurial development
Nixya'awii Community School (Umatilla)
Support for a trip taking 20 students to TEDxPortland including college tours, volunteer projects, and museum trips
Oakland Elementary School (Douglas)
Books for 'Success For All' reading program
Richmond Elementary School (Marion)
Expanding after-school soccer program to younger grades
Riverside Junior/Senior High School (Morrow)
Replacing 35-year-old wrestling mats
South Shore Elementary School (Linn)
'Aves Compartidas' culturally relevant, place-based environmental education for Latinx and Spanish-speaking students
