Fans speechless at Ozzy Osbourne's iconic rendition of Take Me Out to the Ballgame after legend's death
Soon after the announcement of Ozzy Osbourne 's death at 76, sports fans were fondly recalling an iconic performance from the Black Sabbath singer that was memorable for all the wrong reasons. In 2003, Osbourne and wife Sharon were special guests as they attended a Chicago Cubs game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field. Osbourne was there to sing the traditional 'Take Me out to the Ballgame' at the bottom of the seventh inning. Stood in a booth in his Chicago Cubs jersey alongside Sharon, the singer made a point of getting the crowd excited. 'Alright Chicago!' an excited Osbourne cried. 'I want to hear a real crazy crowd start singing with me. Are you ready? Are you ready? I can't hear you, are you ready? One, two three!' But as the music started playing, it immediately became clear that while Ozzy knew the tune, he had no idea what the words were. After singing the first line, Osbourne mumbled along with the organ while members of the Cubs and Dodgers teams looked up towards him in the stands, bemused. He even struggled to count the numbers for the line 'one, two, three times you're out'. Rest in peace to Ozzy Osbourne Your 7th inning stretch at Wrigley will never be forgotten — Just Another Year Chicago: Cubs (@JAYChi_Cubs) July 22, 2025 The fans, however, loved it. A packed Wrigley Park seemed to find it endearing and helped the metal singer along by belting out the words for him. As the tune finally ended, Osbourne didn't miss a beat as he sent a message to the Cubs team in the dugout. 'Now let's get some runs,' Sharon yelled, prompting Ozzy to send his own words of motivation. 'Yeah, let's get some runs! Come on, don't mess around! Let's get some runs, guys,' he said, prompting cheers and applause. 'Unforgettable and totally wild,' one fan posted on X about the clip on Tuesday, after news of his death emerged. Another said: 'Hats off for the legend of the legends we will miss you Ozzy. RIP the lord of darkness.' The Cubs fan group 'Just Another Year' reposted the video on X and added: 'Rest in peace to Ozzy Osbourne. Your 7th inning stretch at Wrigley will never be forgotten.' Osbourne died on Tuesday morning, his family announced in a statement, less than three weeks after performing for the final time with his band Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England - his home city. 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,' the statement said. 'He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.' The rocker was able to bid an emotional farewell to his fans on stage this month as he reunited with his original Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time since 2005. 'You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart,' Osbourne told the crowd in his final speech. The music legend vowed, however, that it would be his final ever performance due to his health, having opened up about his battle with Parkinson's in 2020. He formed Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1969 and they sold 100million records thanks to hits such as 'Paranoid' and 'War Pigs'.

'Call Her Daddy' host Alex Cooper booed for off-key singing at Cubs game: Watch
Alex Cooper didn't win Chicago Cubs fans over with her rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame." Cooper was a guest at a Cubs game Sunday, July 6, and was invited to put her spin on the baseball anthem. "Alright Daddy Gang and Cubs fans, are you ready?" she said, adding with a laugh, "You've never seen something like this before." The Pennsylvania native and two friends performed the song in Cubs jerseys, with the "Call Her Daddy" podcast host playfully singing the song dramatically and off key, stifling laughter with the friends serving as backup dancers. The crowd quickly began booing, as heard in social media video, which only increased during Cooper's big finish. The podcaster and businesswoman appeared unaffected however, laughing through the performance and ending with a big smile on her face. Cooper otherwise had a good time in Chicago. In photos posted on her Instagram story, Cooper was seen signing Cubs T-shirts and jerseys. She also posted photos seemingly from a promotional party for her network and hydration drink brand, Unwell, from the night prior. Sports fans haven't been too pleased with the choice of performers as of late. In June, basketball fans showed disdain for Kristin Chenoweth's performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, the "Wicked" star sang in her distinctive musical theater tone, which seemed to throw viewers off.

The podcaster, 30, was invited to perform the baseball classic during the seventh-inning stretch at Chicago's Wrigley Field. In clips of the moment shared on X, Cooper appeared on the jumbotron where she began with her famous line, 'Alright, Daddy Gang,' to get the crowd excited. She was initially met with loud cheers as the stadium sang along with her during the intro of the song. However, the support quickly descended into loud boos. Despite the crowd's unhappy response, Cooper maintained her composure and made it through the entire song laughing and smiling. Alex Cooper sang an off-key rendition of 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' during the Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals game ( MBDChicago/X ) Her performance luckily didn't sour Cubs fans' celebrations that night as the team went on to defeat the Cardinals 11-0. Footage of her performance has been shared widely on X, with one commenter noting: 'You know it's bad when you get booed during the stretch. Most get booed for a bad rendition of the National Anthem, but this is pathetic.' 'That was brutal,' a second wrote. Another, however, applauded her for doing it 'A cappella and without Auto-Tune.' 'I'll only say that she's a brave woman,' they added. 'The only question is whether she was drunk...' Cooper had originally been in the Windy City to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with fans at an exclusive one-night party sponsored by her electrolyte drink Unwell Hydration and White Claw. She shared pictures from the evening on Instagram, alongside the caption: 'Unwell in Chicago.' Cooper rose to fame with her podcast Call Her Daddy, which she launched in 2018 with her then-friend and co-host Sofia Franklyn. The episodes became known for featuring candid conversations about sex, relationships, and personal experiences. The audio series has since evolved into a mammoth success for Cooper, who last August inked a multiyear deal with SiriusXM reportedly worth up to $125 million. Last month, Cooper released her two-part documentary, Call Her Alex, on Hulu. In the docuseries, she accused her former Boston University soccer coach of sexual harassment. Her alma mater responded to her allegations in a statement, saying: 'Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office. 'We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.'

Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper booed by entire crowd for 'horrendous' performance at Cubs game
'Call Her Daddy' host Alex Cooper was loudly booed at Wrigley Field on Sunday night as she 'made a mockery' of a seventh-inning stretch singing performance. Cooper was given the honor of singing 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' as the Cubs played the Cardinals, but Chicago fans hated her performance, with the podcasting mogul performing the baseball tradition in an exaggerated fashion. 'Alright Daddy Gang and Cubs fans, are you ready?,' she asked the crowd, before beginning her rendition and earning the scorn of the Wrigley crowd. She started laughing at one point in the performance, while she finished off the act by having two of her 'Unwell' employees lift her in the air. And fans were livid with Cooper. 'She made a complete mockery out of the song. Leading the Stretch at Wrigley is an honor, and this was insulting,' one wrote on X. . @alexandracooper brought the energy for Sunday Night Baseball 😂 📺 Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN — espnW (@espnW) July 7, 2025 'You have the opportunity to do something so exciting and memorable at a historical ballpark and this is what you do….ohmygod,' another said. 'Horrendous,' a third chimed in. 'She has always been painfully unfunny & her show is emblematic of so much that's wrong in our society and culture,' a fourth said of the podcaster. And a fifth succinctly stated: 'The 7th inning stretch is for the fans, and Alex made it all about herself.' Ultimately, Cooper's performance was likely forgotten by fans in attendance as Chicago beat their St. Louis rivals 11-0 to win the series. No team other than the Dodgers (56-35) has a better record than the Cubs (54-36). Cooper's name was in the news last month after she claimed her former Boston University soccer coach Nancy Feldman sexually harassed her. The allegations from Cooper, who played at the school from 2013-15, were revealed in her new Hulu documentary, 'Call Me Alex,' at the start of June The University later responded Cooper's claims and insisted they 'remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment'. A letter defending Feldman was later signed by 99 women's soccer alums of the school. However, former BU player Sophia Woodland told PEOPLE that Feldman was a 'manipulator. 'The first word that comes to mind is just 'horrible,' she said. 'She is awful. She, I think, puts on a really good front.'

Alex Cooper booed at Wrigley Field after off-key rendition of ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame'
Alex Cooper, host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, faced a wave of disapproval from the crowd at Wrigley Field on Sunday after her off-pitch rendition of Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the seventh-inning stretch. Cooper's enthusiastic delivery fell flat with Chicago Cubs fans, who responded with loud boos and social media criticism. Appearing during a game between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, Cooper attempted to entertain the crowd but quickly lost favour. Alex Cooper was loudly booed during her Take Me Out To The Ballgame rendition at Wrigley tonight — Jomboy Media (@JomboyMedia) July 7, 2025 Fans compared her performance to other less-than-ideal renditions in Wrigley Field history, even ranking it below past infamous efforts by Mike Ditka and Ozzy Osbourne. 'Alex Cooper's Stretch wasn't Ditka or Ozzy Osbourne level bad. It was somehow worse because she was actually trying to do it that way,' one fan posted online. Another added, 'Just saw Alex Cooper get booed at Wrigley Field best day of my life.' Despite her popularity in the podcast world and a $60 million Spotify deal, Cooper struggled to connect with the baseball audience. Known for transforming Call Her Daddy into a solo brand after parting ways with former co-host Sofia Franklyn, Cooper has courted both acclaim and controversy in recent years. In 2024, she received criticism for a tightly managed interview with then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris, including a costly studio setup in Washington, DC. More recently, she threw the first pitch at Fenway Park—another high-profile sports moment met with mixed reactions.
