Seiko's New ‘Initial D' Watch Puts the AE86 on Your Wrist

Summary To celebrate the 30th anniversary ofInitial D,Seikohas teamed up with Kodansha and series creator Shuichi Shigeno to release a limited-edition chronograph inspired by protagonist Takumi Fujiwara's iconic AE86. Measuring just under 40mm in case diameter, the timepieces arrive in a stainless steel build. The watch's dial features a striking panda-style two-tone design that mirrors the white-and-black paint job of the Sprinter Trueno, with the 'Fujiwara Tofu Shop' logo placed at the 4 o'clock position. Subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock mimic the AE86's dashboard gauges, while the 6 o'clock subdial bears a stylized 'D' emblem, referencing both 'drift' and 'dream.'Functionality meets fandom with premium features including a quartz movement accurate to ±15 seconds per month, curved Hardlex crystal and water resistance up to 10 bar. Lumibrite-coated hands and indices ensure visibility in low light, echoing the glow of a nighttime street race. Each piece is individually numbered out of 1,995 units — a nod to the manga's original release year. The watch arrives in a collector's box styled after the AE86's monochrome livery, complete withInitial Dbranding and an exclusive illustration card. Priced at ¥65,780 JPY (approx. $446 USD), the first batch has already sold out, with a second wave of pre-order currently open via authorized retailers.

This Mid-Engine Toyota Van Can Deliver Way More Tofu Than Some Dumb Corolla

So your father has a tofu delivery service and tasks you with driving the tofu up a mountain without spilling any of the goods. Don't worry, he already has a car, a trusty 300,000 mile Previa with a 5-speed manual transmission. Naturally, as one does, you fall into a mountain racing gang and you're the best downhill driver the group has ever seen. Thank god your dad didn't have something dumb and boring like a Corolla Sprinter Trueno. How would you fit even a reasonable amount of tofu in a tiny hatchback? Now that you (the one and only Takumi Fujiwara) have gone pro or whatever, you don't need this Previa anymore and listed it on Facebook Marketplace in Fresno, California for some reason. Here's what the seller had to say about his titanic tofu toter. 93 Toyota previa 2.2l 4cyl Rare 5 speed manual 290k mi Runs drives great Everything works Estima rear cargo mirror Str removable steering wheel 58 industries adjustible coilovers 3rd row seats Clean title in hand current registration Head turner everywhere it goes $6k or trade for something cool It seems to me that a well-modified Previa in good shape is probably worth the asking price, but that's a whole lot of mountain-running kilometers on the odometer. Would this monster still be capable of taking on the best FD RX-7s and Supras that the SpeedStars and NightKids can throw at it? I guess that depends on whether the buyer is as good a driver as Takumi. It was his goal to be the very best, like no one ever was (sorry, wrong show), after all. The seller doesn't say whether the stereo still sounds good blasting Eurobeat. You'll have to find out for yourself by dropping $6,000 on your next daily driver. It would get a lot of attention at a Radwood event, that's for sure. For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
