Tarshid Launches Solar Panel Project at Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh
The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid), in collaboration with the Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh, has launched a major solar panel installation initiative. This project involves equipping the institute's buildings and facilities with rooftop solar systems to enhance energy efficiency and reduce electricity consumption. The initiative is designed to generate clean, renewable energy on-site, aligning with international sustainability standards and best practices. Technical Assessment According to Waled Abdullah Al-Ghreri, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid, the project began with in-depth field surveys and technical evaluations to assess energy performance across the institute. The findings guided the implementation of rooftop solar systems as a strategic solution for energy optimization. Moreover, the total installed capacity of these systems is 682 kilowatts, expected to generate around one million kilowatt-hours annually for internal consumption. Tarshid, Energy Impact The project is set to reduce the institute's annual electricity consumption from 25.5 million kWh to 24.4 million kWh. Additionally, this reduction translates into environmental benefits equivalent to saving over 1,700 barrels of oil and avoiding about 600 metric tons of carbon emissions per year. These savings are comparable to planting more than 10,000 tree seedlings annually. National Sustainability Goals Through this initiative, Tarshid reinforces its commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the Kingdom's broader sustainability objectives. The project not only contributes to cleaner energy production but also plays a key role in national efforts to achieve long-term energy savings and reduce carbon emissions. Tarshid completes solar panel installation work at Saudi hospital
Bahrain - The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) has announced that it has completed the installation of solar panels and systems across Al Iman General Hospital's buildings and facilities in Riyadh. The solar project, which was implemented in co-ordination with Al Iman General Hospital, will have a total capacity of 638 kilowatts, which is expected to result in annual energy savings of approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours. Tarshid said the move was mainly aimed at improving the hospital's energy efficiency and reduce consumption by generating solar power for on-site use as per the highest international standards and best practices. By achieving significant energy savings and reducing carbon emissions, Tarshid supports the Kingdom's strategic sustainability goals in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Tarshid Board Member and CEO Waled Al Ghreri said the company first conducted field surveys and technical studies on the buildings and facilities within the project's scope. These studies highlighted the importance of improving energy efficiency and reducing consumption by installing solar panels and systems on rooftops. This is a key measure to boost efficiency by enabling on-site electricity generation and supplying the hospital with clean, renewable energy for self-consumption, stated Al Ghreri. He said the total targeted annual electricity consumption for the project was approximately 22.8 million kilowatt-hours. "Following the installation, the consumption is expected to drop to 21.8 million kilowatt-hours annually," he noted. The anticipated savings from the project are equivalent to conserving over 1,500 barrels of oil and avoiding approximately 560 metric tons of harmful carbon emissions—an environmental impact comparable to planting more than 9,000 seedlings every year, he added. Tarshid achieves LEED Platinum certification
The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) announced that its headquarters building in Riyadh has been awarded the LEED Platinum Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) under version 4 by the U.S. Green Building Council, in the Operations and Maintenance – Interiors recertification category. The building earned an impressive 96 points, making it the highest-rated project in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region, and the second-highest globally, further strengthening Tarshid's position as a national leader in sustainability and energy efficiency. This accomplishment marks a new milestone in Tarshid's journey, following last year's achievement of receiving a LEED Platinum Certification in the Interior Design and Construction (ID+C) category for commercial buildings. These certifications reflect the company's ongoing commitment to applying the highest global standards in energy efficiency and sustainability. The design of the headquarters building embodies Tarshid's vision and mission to promote sustainability in the Kingdom, support the expansion of renewable energy, and enable smart infrastructure solutions for buildings and cities. Situated on King Abdullah Road in Riyadh, the building stands out as an architectural icon, featuring façade structures that help reduce thermal load and maximize the use of indirect natural daylight. The interior incorporates numerous sustainability and environmental standards, supported by advanced smart systems for energy management—such as motion sensors, daylight sensors, CO₂ detectors, a building management system (BMS), and solar panels. On this occasion, Mr. Waled bin Abdullah Al Ghreri, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid, stated: "This achievement comes as a culmination of Tarshid's ongoing efforts in implementing energy efficiency standards and reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation. Our headquarters embodies our mission and vision, which aligns with the national sustainability goals." It is worth noting that the LEED Platinum certification is the highest global rating for energy, sustainability, and design standards. It is an internationally recognized certification in the field of sustainability leadership and achievement. Tarshid was established in 2017 by the Public Investment Fund as a result of collaboration between the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Finance, and the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC). The company is dedicated to enhancing energy efficiency within the Kingdom and is committed to building a sustainable future. As a pioneer in energy efficiency, Tarshid supports the energy sector's strategic national sustainability goals, achieving significant energy savings, fostering a prosperous energy efficiency industry in Saudi Arabia, and contributing to the creation of thousands of job opportunities.
