Little League World Series Coach Blasted For 'Classless' Move During Blowout Win

A Little League World Series coach is getting blasted for a "classless" move while leading 13-0 in a game.
Wednesday's opening round game between Nevada and Illinois was not close. Team Nevada, which is made up of the Summerlin South All-Stars, dominated on the way to a blowout victory. Nevada topped Illinois, 16-1, to get to 1-0 on the tournament.
But late in the game, while leading 13-0 with the victory already secured - close to it, at least - Team Nevada's coaches decided to call for steal attempts. In Major League Baseball, or college baseball, this could get you thrown at. Stealing in the middle of a blowout is most certainly against the unwritten rules.
But is it OK in the Little League World Series? Fans are debating.
While leading 13-0, Team Nevada decided to steal second base. The player's steal was quickly met with clapping by the third base coach, suggesting that it was a called steal, or at least an encouraged one.
But many fans are suggesting that stealing a base while leading 13-0 is a "classless" move.
"In the LLWS, Nevada beat Illinois 16-1. Nevada was still stealing and scoring on pass balls even after being up by 13 runs… Coaches, what's your take on this? I personally call off stealing & scoring on pass balls after being up 10…" one fan wrote.
"Stealing up 13-0 smh no sportsmanship," one fan added.
"Have you ever been on the other end of a beating by more than 11 runs?? You do NOT take extra bases and delay steal like that when your up that much!! I believe it's disrespect, or the winning coach doesn't know any better!! Not right," another fan added.
"The steal happened on a throw back to the pitcher. In a 13-0 game, that's just a lack of class & respect," one fan said.
It was a blowout victory overall for Team Nevada, though they are continuing to take heat for the steal on social media.
Illinois had just four hits through five innings - a comeback was still "possible" I guess, but it wasn't happening - though some are defending the move.
"This is the little league world series. For most of them they will never play in anything bigger. For a simple regular season game sure. You take the gas off. I do all the time. For the LLWS you play hard until the game is over. Save your pitching and don't be THAT team that lost a 13 run lead," one parent said in defense of the steal.
Do you think the steal attempt up 13-0 was out of bounds?
