Elsewedy University of Technology 'SUTech' Announces Winner of TechTank 2025 Competition After Strong Showdown Among Seven Teams
Cairo, May 2025 – Today, Elsewedy University of Technology (SUTech) – Polytechnic of Egypt hosted the final round of TechTank competition, where 7 teams presented their innovative projects to a panel of top industry experts. At the end of the event, the winning team was announced. The judging panel included prominent figures such as Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at SUTech, Ms. Dina Ghabbour, Executive Director of the Ghabbour Foundation for Development, and Eng. Abdallah Sallam, Chairman and CEO of Madinet Masr. Commenting on the event, Eng. Ahmed ElSewedy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Elsewedy University of Technology (SU Tech)—Polytechnic of Egypt stated, 'Since the founding of SUTech, our goal has been to prepare students for the job market through hands-on, project-based learning. TechTank was created to discover and support talented students by helping them turn their ideas into real prototypes. Today, we're excited to award the Team Regen Power Project from Green City International School the prize of EGP 150,000 for their outstanding project in the field of Energy.'

Applications open for Mayor-President's Youth Advisory Council
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet is inviting high school students across from across the parish to apply for the Mayor-President Youth Advisory Council. The program offers high school student to learn about local government, engage directly with community leaders and advocate for issues. Boulet explained the ultimate goal for members of the youth council is to grow up educated in the government, ask questions and understand how the government impacts lives. 'They think really deep about our community and their future and what they want to see in their community.' Boulet said. 'I did a Q&A with them and they ask some pretty intense questions. Carencro woman arrested for drug possession with baby in car
CARENCRO, La. () — A woman was arrested on drug possession charges during a traffic stop in Carencro. Yesterday, Carencro police took 33-year-old Megan Thibodeaux into custody after she was allegedly found possessing several illegal substances. Officials said during a traffic stop conducted by a K-9 Sargent, substances believed to be methamphetamine, marijuana and other paraphernalia were recovered. Subscribe Now Thibodeaux was booked into a Lafayette Parish jail for possession of a schedule one substance, possession of a schedule two substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a juvenile. New Iberia leaders unite to combat crime and protect community
IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — Issues with violent crime is influencing New Iberia city leaders to take action and allow the city to reach its full potential. Data from crime websites like and showed New Iberia has one of the highest crime rates per capita in America. Because of this and recent shootings this band of unity is brought forth. News 10 spoke with Michael Haik,16th Judicial District Attorney, in a previous interview about this issue. Subscribe Now Haik reiterated his dedication to combating crime and protecting the community. 'Guns don't kill people. People kill people,' Haik said. 'I am committed to work with New Iberia Police Department as well as all agencies in the 16th (district) to ensure that we can go to high school football games, that we can go to festivals, that we can go to parades without the fear of getting shot.' New Iberia Police Chief Todd D'Albor said his agency is partnering with the DA's office in this crackdown on crime. 'The men and women that serve and in New Iberia Police Department are committed to making sure that when we get information about individuals that are possessing illegal guns or using them in commissions of illegal crimes, violent crimes.' D'Albor said. 'That we send the information necessary to our district attorney and their his prosecutors to make sure that they're held accountable for what they do.' 'Evil will not win. There is no room for nonbelievers. We are here. This is our home, and none of us are leaving,' said New Iberia Mayor Freddie DeCourt. All city leaders suggested to the public that 'if you see something, to say something' when it comes to these violent crimes. Pierre Part man arrested for firearm, vessel violations in St. Martin Parish
ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A Pierre Part man was arrested by Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents for alleged firearm violations and operating a vessel while impaired in St. Martin Parish on April 16, authorities said. Dwayne Hebert, 47, of Pierre Part was arrested and charged with operating and driving a vessel while impaired, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failing to possess the required amount of personal floatation device and failing to wear a cutoff lanyard, authorities said. Agents said during patrol on East Grande Lake they observed Hebert allegedly operating a hand tiller steered outboard vessel. Agents stopped the vessel for a boating safety inspection and allegedly found that Hebert did not possess any personal flotation devices, failed to wear his cutoff lanyard and possessed a .380 pistol, authorities During the inspection, agents said they determined that Hebert was impaired and was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
