'I'm looking for a nice girl': Roofer from Bolton on new dating show

A roofer from Bolton is one of the contestants on a new dating show. Kane, 25, whose surname has not been released, is on the new Channel 4 "dating experiment" series "The Honesty Box". The show puts a cast of singles in Truetopia, a sunny and romantic paradise, in pursuit of true love. However, there is just one rule- "do not lie". While the daters explore romances with their matches they are regularly tested by the dreaded Honesty Box- a lie detection system asking probing questions about their true feelings. If they tell the truth, it could impact their newly formed relationships but if they lie, it will reduce the £100,000 Trust Fund. Hosted by Vicky Pattison of Geordie Shore fame and counsellor Lucinda Light, the show started on Monday, April 28, with three episodes having been released so far. Lucinda guides the daters as Truetopia's very own Sincerity Coach, encouraging each of them to discover and share their inner truth. And at the dramatic Truth Terrace, Vicky reveals the Honesty Box results to the group. But can the singles work out who has lied and cost them money from the Trust Fund? New episodes come out every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on E4. Speaking about what made him want to take part, Kane said: "I'm looking for a nice girl and it'll be a fun experience. "I've been single now for around about eight months. A little bit of dating here and there, but nothing serious. "My perfect girl is someone who's into the gym. "Dark hair, nice eyes. Someone that has good manners. Good morals and values. "My biggest turn off is someone who isn't hygienic. "Also someone who is disrespectful or rude to the waiter on a date. And someone who has dirty trainers." "After I cheated, the relationship went downhill and that's why we're not together anymore." He adds that he sees himself as a "changed man now", having "grown up". Kane added: "I would describe myself as being a good boyfriend. I like to get my own way a little bit, but I do treat my woman with a lot of affection and respect. "I'm not going into this to play a game. I'm going in being open. "Whatever comes in front of me, I'm open to it. "I don't know how things are going to play out, so I don't really know whether I'm going to be able to trick the Honesty Box or whether it's going to catch me out if I do lie." On being asked how his friends would describe him, he said: "My best friends would say I'm a lady-killer. I don't know why. "I like to chill on the sofa cuddled up with a cup of tea!"

Tempting Fortune star's superyacht decision divides fans

Tempting Fortune contestant Hugo is both a fool and a hero in the eyes of the show's viewers. During Sunday, 6 April's penultimate episode, the remaining players were offered the chance to kick back on a luxurious superyacht after wrapping up their 18-day trek through the Malaysian jungle. It was a trickier prospect this time, with £10,000 leaving their prize pot if five of them wanted to take the temptation, while any additional individuals would bump it up to £15,000. Everybody but Hugo and Henry opted to go for it in the end, which meant that the boys were effectively passing up the opportunity for willpower reasons alone. The £15,000 threshold had already been hit, and that's why social media users found the whole thing a bit nonsensical. "How thick are Hugo and Henry!! It's already paid for!! It is RIDICULOUS to turn that temptation down!!" read a message on X. "Those 2 lads should be an inspiration to us all," wrote someone else from a completely different perspective. Hugo is as strong as an Ox… massive respect to you sir! #temptingfortune — Intrepid Traveler (@_davemccoll) April 6, 2025 Can't believe Hugo and Henry aren't going to take the yacht. It's paid for already #TemptingFortune — NIA 🇬🇭 (@Taniaaa___X) April 6, 2025 Hugo and the other lad are idiots. The yacht was already paid for. Whats the point of turning it down? #temptingfortune — Lynne Bell (@lynneb2000) April 6, 2025 I could not love Hugo more. What a fantastic lad, setting his own goals and sticking to his guns. #TemptingFortune — Wando (@Wandoful) April 6, 2025 Hugo and Henry will go far in life. I'd like to see them on Race Across The World. #temptingfortune — Ashley M 💙 (@AshleyTMN) April 6, 2025 Hugo deserves all of the money, not once has he compromised his values #temptingfortune — Leanne Thomas (@leeleeCThomas) April 6, 2025 Despite thirsting for the yacht's chocolate orange in particular, Hugo wanted to continue proving to himself that he could go without any special treats. He even stood firm when Sam – arguably the staunchest of all the camp members – took him aside for a last-ditch attempt at persuading him to change his mind. "You know that I'm being a bit stubborn," he said to everyone. "I want to go the whole experience to try and show my willpower in resisting temptations... it's gonna be a no guys. The job's not done yet so it'd be silly to have a night here. I can't take it." His close friend Henry went on to share: "Obviously I have to be with Hugo tonight." Tempting Fortune airs on Channel 4 and 4OD.
