Man's body discovered in Pasir Puteh river, cops classify as sudden death
KOTA BARU, June 19 — The body of a man was found floating in a river near Kampung Tualang Tinggi in Pasir Puteh yesterday. Pasir Puteh police chief Supt Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said police received a report about the discovery at around 3.30pm. 'A team from the Selising Police Station and Pasir Puteh District Police Headquarters was dispatched to the scene and found the body in the river,' he said in a statement yesterday. Initial checks found no signs of foul play at the location. The body has been sent to Tengku Anis Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case has been classified as sudden death. — Bernama

Man severely hurt in Kelantan parang attack

(File pic) PETALING JAYA : A man was severely injured after he was attacked by a group of men wearing face masks and armed with parangs at Kampung Baru Nelayan in Tok Bali, Kelantan, on Friday. The 25-year-old victim sustained injuries to his left knee and right ankle in the 11.35pm incident, Kosmo reported. Pasir Puteh police chief Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said an initial investigation found that the victim was in front of a house belonging to one of the suspects' friends when he was ambushed by several people. 'The man was sent to Tengku Anis Hospital here for treatment before being referred to the Universiti Sains Malaysia specialist hospital in Kubang Kerian due to his serious injuries,' he said. Zaizul said five men had been arrested and police were on the hunt for other suspects. He said the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
