‘Terrifier 4' Will Finally Dig Deep into Art the Clown's Origins
Terrifier franchise filmmaker Damien Leone was on hand to meet fans at the recent Texas Frightmare Weekend. During the event, the director of the upcoming Terrifier 4 chatted with horror vlogger and pop culture commentator 3C and gave the channel quite a scoop. When asked to describe Terrifier 4 in a word, Leone told 3C, 'I know this word gets used a lot, but it's going to be epic, it's not going to disappoint.' The highly anticipated next installment will continue Art the Clown's (David Howard Thorton) slasher rampage through Miles County. And to hype up the film even more, he told 3C, 'You're going to get Art's backstory in the first 15 minutes.' Many fans have speculated that Art's origins might hold the key to defeating him once and for all. But where's the fun in that? We'd like to see him continue on reeking bloody havok with in his full gleeful gory glory. Earlier this year Leone expressed gratitude to his fans on his birthday with a post on X that read, 'Figure I'd give you a present in return! The script for Terrifier 4 is in the works and it's shaping up to be a most epic, thrilling, nasty, horrifying, emotional and utterly satisfying conclusion. P.s., I will finally reveal Art's origin.'

The director of 'Terrifier' built his horror movie franchise as a side gig while working as a delivery driver. Now the films have made over $100 million.
The "Terrifier" franchise has given audiences a new horror icon with the serial killer Art the Clown. Damien Leone spent 10 years delivering flowers while writing "Terrifier" and "Terrifier 2." Now, after "Terrifier 3," the franchise has made almost $100 million worldwide. The director Damien Leone said he spent 10 years working as a flower delivery driver while writing the "Terrifier" movies. Now, the ultra-gory franchise has made over $100 million worldwide. The supernatural slasher movies revolve around Art (David Howard Thornton), a silent and brutal serial killer. To some horror fans, Art the Clown is now as iconic as the likes of Ghostface, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger. The 2018 movie "Terrifier" made $420,000, and 2022's "Terrifier 2" earned $15 million as the hype around the character grew. Then, in 2024, "Terrifier 3" upped the gore — and the returns. The third installment grossed $90 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo. Collectively, Leone's twisted creation has now made $106 million. Leone told Tuesday's episode of "Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum" that many aspiring filmmakers ask him about his path to success in the industry. "My favorite thing to tell them is, 'Dude, I was writing the script to 'Terrifier 2' in a flower van," he said. "That was my primary job for 10 years, because I knew I didn't want to dive into a career that would lock me up or keep me away from filmmaking," he added. The director said that the role was flexible enough that he could focus on freelancing within the film industry, while writing "Terrifier 2." He added: "I knew I needed a nine-to-five job that I could break away from any time I would get a freelance gig doing makeup effects on a movie or if I was going to go make my own movie, but I would always go back to the flower van. "I literally wrote the entire movie of 'Terrifier 2' when I was delivering flowers. Almost all the ideas came to me while I was driving that van." Leone is working on finishing the series with "Terrifier 4," which will dive further into the mythology surrounding the franchise's heroine Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) and Art the Clown. He said: "I'm going to wrap it all up in the next installment." Read the original article on Business Insider

Extreme horror film that caused viewers to ‘vomit' to feature major moment in sequel
The director of the notorious Terrifier series has confirmed that a fourth film is in the works and will feature a significant revelation about its maniacal serial killer. The Terrifier films follow the exploits of the mute and sadistic Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton. They have become infamous among horror fans for featuring extreme levels of violence and gore. The second film, released in 2002, reportedly made people 'pass out' in theatres, something that director, Damien Leone denied was a 'marketing ploy' created to promote the independent movie. In 2024, Terrifier 3 came with a warning, telling viewers that they might feel 'unwell', with some audience members reportedly vomiting in cinemas. It was also met with a rare ban in France. Leone, 43, has now announced on Instagram that Terrifier 4 is in production. In his post, which featured an image of a blood-splattered script, the director wrote: 'Thank you all so much for the amazing birthday wishes. I'm truly blessed to know so many wonderful human beings. 'I might as well take advantage of this day and give all of the Terrifier fans a little present in return – The script for Terrifier 4 is underway and it is shaping up to be the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga. 'I've personally never been so excited to see one of my own scripts translate to the screen like this one.' Leone added: 'P.S. I will finally reveal Art's origin in this entry. Thank you all again.' Throughout all three Terrifier films to date, Art the Clown has not spoken a single word and audiences have learnt almost nothing about the character's origins or motives. All of the Terrifier films have generated remarkable box office revenues, with the third film earning more than $89m (£71m), despite costing just $2m (£1.6m) to make. The popularity of the films has seen Leone claim that an unnamed major studio approached him intending to reboot Terrifier for a more mainstream horror audience but on one demand. Talking to Total Film, he said: 'They wanted to reboot it for a wider audience. That's not what I was interested in. They would say, 'It's gotta be rated R, it can't be as gory as you made it.'' The 42-year-old director added: 'I knew they'd never let me shoot the first 10 minutes of what I wanted to do [in Terrifier 3]. So I thought, 'Let's just stay true to what this franchise is.'
