Kgomotso Christopher and Prince Grootboom dive into Fatal Seduction S2's emotional storm

The second season of Fatal Seduction kicks off with Kgomotso Christopher's Nandi in jail and Prince Grootboom's Jacob seeking justice for his father. Kgomotso paints a parallel between her character and the incarcerated doctor Nandipha Magudumana. Kgomotso and Prince are intentional about 'washing off' their characters after shooting charged scenes. Lust, betrayal and a political conspiracy are what TV lovers are in store for from the second season of the local Netflix thriller series Fatal Seduction. Season two kicks right off from the end of the first season, where viewers first met law professor Nandi Mahlati, played by seasoned actress Kgomotso Christopher, cheats on her husband and judge Leonard Mahlati (played by Thapelo Mokoena) and fall into a dangerous love affair with the mysterious Jacob Tau, played by Prince Grootboom. Nandi is now a convicted felon, embroiled in a murderous coverup with the treacherous and lustful Minister Vilakazi played by Warren Masemola, and has to do everything she can to protect her family. Prince's character Jacob is still on a mission to clear his late father's name, finding himself diving deeper into the corrupt world and expose Minister Vilikazi by getting hot and heavy with the minister's fiercely loyal assistant, Nqobile Khumalo's Precious. Both Kgomotso and Prince dive into the 'explosive and loaded series' with TRUELOVE, going into detail about their controversial characters and the decisions that shape them. From esteemed lecturer to jailbird, Kgomotso says viewers will look forward to 'seeing the transition of Nandi being the soft and gentle Nandi fighting her way through to obviously ending up in prison ultimately, and having to find a way to survive and we see, what I would call, the survival-instinct Nandi when we see her in the prison life. And I think because of where we leave them, of course we leave Jacob and Nandi separated by prison.' Kgomotso highlights an interesting parallel to Nandi's character with now-disgraced and incarcerated medical doctor Nandipha Magudumana, who was found to be harbouring the escaped convict and 'Facebook rapist' Thabo Bester. '[Nandi and Jacob are] not one dimensional. They're exactly who we are as humans. We make mistakes. We try to clean up those mistakes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In Nandi's case we've seen – and it's no pun intended and it's a coincidence with the current situation with Nandi Magudumana in prison where all she ever did, Nandi, was just to fall in love with someone. And whether it's art imitating life or life imitating art, you make one small decision and it just ruins your life.' Prince echoes Kgomotso's sentiment and says, 'I think what was much easier is that the writers made it easy for us to portray these characters.' Immersing themselves in emotionally charged scenes and the aftermath This season of Fatal Seduction shows even more skin, sex and salacious behaviour, making it all the more important for the actors to be intentional about leaving their characters at the door once they're done shooting. 'There's this thing that one of our intimacy coaches used to do with us ... You pretend that you are under a shower and you are washing the character off you. I think that for me, that was the best way of unwinding after an emotional, crazy, crazy day on set,' Prince says. Kgomotso agrees wholeheartedly and shares that 'I think what we always try to put out there to our audience is that we are supported by incredible crew and part of the crew includes intimacy coaches and they are actually there to make sure we step in and step out of character, especially in those types of emotionally intense scenes, physically intense scenes and so they have exercises they give us. 'So, I was going to mention exactly what Prince is saying. It's quite helpful, especially because we have very long days. Sometimes you're jumping in from that type of emotionally, sexually, physically charged scene to a completely different scene and you've got to be able to move from emotional state to emotional state very, very quickly. And, honestly, credit to our intimacy coaches for giving us the tools on set on and off set.'
