This Abandoned Alfa Romeo Dealer Hides a Treasure Trove of Iconic Cars

There are numerous abandoned dealerships around the world, and every now and then, we'll tell you about a specific find. They'll have sheds crammed with models of all kinds, among which cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars are hidden. Or even more. But that's not the case here. One YouTuber, The Bearded Explorer , discovered a dealership in Holland stuffed with Alfa Romeo cars mainly from the 1990s and 2000s, with a few slightly older models. It's a barn find hunter's dream. Old Glories The video opens with a Ferrari 360 Modena, which has nothing to do with the Alfa Romeo world, but we certainly can't deny it's a beautiful sight, even if it is in a sad state of repair. A few kilometers later, we come to the dealership with an incredible collection of abandoned Alfas. We start with an Alfa Romeo 156, followed by a handful of 159s, a 145, and what appears to be a 1970s Giulia . All that remains of her is the rusted bodywork and little else. Next appears an Alfa Romeo 166 with the 24-valve 3.0-liter V-6 engine. The legendary Busso, here in the 226-horsepower version, delivers a top speed of 147 miles per hour. Not an unremarkable pedigree for Alfa's last great flagship—a good design that was unable to break through and play on equal footing with the usual Germans. The Era of Front-Wheel Drive While the 166 had little luck, the 155 , designed by Ercole Spada, who recently passed away, with almost 200,000 units sold, was a good success—even if it was too closely related to the Fiat Tempra, which received some criticism. The abandoned example looks like one of the best-preserved, with the green bodywork almost immaculate and the black alloy wheels intact. Behind it hides a red 33, heir to the legendary Alfasud, which surpassed it in quality. It was rewarded with about one million units sold in 12 years. Alongside it was another 33, this time in Quadrifoglio Verde and recognizable by its rear wing and body-color bumper. It's equipped with the 105-horsepower 1.5 boxer derived from the Alfasud Ti and is capable of reaching 185 mph. Then, there is a true piece from the 90s (at least for those who, as I wrote, did not enter adolescence in the 90s); the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA, the ultimate expression of the Biscone's sportiness between the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. It had the Busso engine, tweaked aesthetics, and nastiness to spare. The Surprises The long tour takes us into the workshop where a GTV6 sits on the deck, in apparently good condition. It has a 2.5-liter, 160-hp V-6 under the hood. Then there is a 33 decked out in a special way with six additional lights perched on the front, presumably a safety car for some local championship. "I cannot believe this whole estate is completely abandoned.' Wandering through the former town, which is now solely inhabited by red squirrels and deer, he compared it to being in a post-apocalyptic world where all human life has disappeared. The 376-hectare haunting site is hidden by the dense forest, making it almost impossible to spot in summer. During Colin's visit, the trees were bare, giving the audience an idea of what the garrison town would have looked like when it was inhabited. The properties in the ghost town would fetch millions of pounds if they were sold today. Although there is occasional evidence of graffiti and vandalism, the houses are mostly undamaged. But Colin noted that despite the warm weather, the eerie buildings were oddly chilly inside. Colin continued: 'This is actually incredible. This is probably the closest I've ever felt to be like walking around in The Walking Dead. "This is exactly what it would look like if the world ended everyone disappeared nature would just literally take over everything.' At its peak, the town had five British primary schools, a clothes shop, two post offices, a BP gas station and a NAAFI bookshop. Plans were created to renovate the town to accommodate asylum seekers after the British Army formally returned it to the German government in December 2013. But over a decade on, there has been little improvement. In 2015, a group of Arab businessmen put forth plans to turn the property into a leisure park, but it seems that those plans have since been shelved. The followers lamented the town's downfall, with many flooding to the comments. One person wrote: "What a waste, this is criminal letting all these good houses go to rack & ruin." Another one said: "This is very high quality accommodation and still in reasonable condition. "It probably wouldn't take too much to refurbish and either use as social housing, or just sell off." A third person added: "I lived there for over 6 years as my father was military. It was an absolutely brilliant place back in the day. So so sad to see it like this now." Colin only scratched the surface of the enormous territory and plans to return to the site to explore it further.

‘Holy grail' of car graveyards found hiding away in corner of UK – including rotting Cadillac & ‘prettiest motor ever'

PETROLHEADS were overjoyed to discover the 'Holy grail' of car graveyards in a quiet corner of the UK. The impressive find was a barn, brimming with a huge collection of iconic classic motors. 2 The cars, including a Jaguar E-Type and Volkswagen LT Camper, had all been left to rust on an abandoned farm. YouTuber The Bearded Explorer came across the site and was particularly blown away by one car. "There is a Jaguar E-Type in here, but that would be my favourite car. That is absolutely stunning," he said on the video. He pointed out the unusual number plate, which reads TC30. "If you saw that rolling down the road you would stop, look, and you would keep on looking until it disappeared," he added. A rare Cadillac Fleetwood, which was a name given to bespoke models. Cadillac first started selling Fleetwood bodies from 1934 onwards, appearing on cars such as the Series 70. They are incredibly rare and sought after, especially in the UK, so to find one in an old barn is almost unheard of. It's not clear why the cars had been dumped or who originally owned them. Alongside the Cadillac, there was the Jaguar E-Type, which Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari apparently called "the prettiest car ever made". In the video clip, the E-Type looks in poor condition, but it had outlasted some of the other cars stored inside the barn. The YouTuber also found an Suzuki Jimny SUV amongst the decay. This isn't the first time that classic cars have been left to rot in a barn. Over 40 abandoned motors from manufacturers such as BMW, Ford, Rover and Volvo were found in an open barn in the UK. A fleet of dilapidated fire engines covered in mould and peeling red paint were also found. The images were taken by urban explorer Kyle Urbex during his 220th exploration at Brian's Vintage Car Collection in Chester. Kyle found the graveyard hidden away behind dense vegetation near the home of elderly couple Brian and Barbara. Other images show old tractors and JCBs scattered across the property, giving it an eerie abandoned atmosphere. He also found a BMW 635 CSI, once a sign of luxury, slowly being reclaimed by nature. With iconic styling and nicknamed 'shark nose' the motor was very much the symbol of the BMW range after being introduced in 1978. Kyle's visit took an unexpected turn when he stumbled upon Brian himself who revealed his hopes for the future. He said: "Brian has full intentions of one day being able to restore this high car collection, but given his age of 70+, I highly doubt he will get around to restoring all the cars and fire trucks. "He has been victim to some of the cars being smashed to bits by youths." 2

Huge Barn Find Stash Uncovered In Secret Location

⚡️ Read the full article on Motorious Stumbling across just one or two barn find cars can be pretty exciting, but just imagine coming across a huge collection like the one featured in the included video. Documented by The Bearded Explorer, a UK YouTuber who likes to check out abandoned locations, this is truly a breathtaking discovery. Row after row of dusty British and European classic cars have been hidden away from view, revealing how some collections are truly forgotten. Check out the latest Motorious Podcast here. The collection is so huge it's in multiple barns and spills to the outdoors as well. There are dozens and dozens of classic cars just sitting and it's amazing to see. Of course, to a lot of gearheads this is almost like a nightmare come true. If you have your own vehicle collection and take great pains to keep every last ride looking and running nice, this isn't what you like to think about. The unpleasant truth is at some point these cars might have been similarly well cared for, only to have fallen into disrepair. There are potentially many reasons for this to happen. If one's health were to fail, maintaining cars might take a backseat to paying steep medical bills or even just making it from one day to the next. Also possible is that the owner died, left these cars and building to someone else, and they simply haven't cared to maintain them. The Bearded Explorer seems to have a propensity for discovering barn finds. He often discloses that he finds these remote, abandoned places through friends or contacts, something he mentions about this particular barn find collection. This flies in the face of some would-be barn find hunters' 'wisdom' that you don't need to really deal with people, just that you need to know all about cars and that alone will help you gain access. Instead, if you want to make amazing discoveries like this, you need to be good with people, gain their confidence, and then they'll let you know about such hidden treasures. Yes, it helps if they know you're a true gearhead and know what to do with rotting old cars, but you first have to win them over as a person. Check out the video for yourself.
