Ironheart: 5 Fun Facts About Marvel's Genius Superhero
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reveals itself as a vast plain of existence just waiting to be explored by the everyday superhero fan. As we hit Phase 5 of the Marvel timeline, new characters such as the 'New Avengers' from Thunderbolts are making their big screen debut, creating hype for what's to come in their productions. Adding to the already equipped list of heroes is one debuting on the small screens, which has created much talk about her story on Disney+. 'Ironheart' is an upcoming television series following genius inventor Riri Williams, who was inspired to follow in the footsteps of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Here are some fun facts about the MCU's newest femme hero to get you started on her story: 1. She Reverse-Engineered Iron Man's Suit As a genius inventor endorsed by Tony Stark himself, Riri Williams was given the chance to work on her own inspired Iron Man suit, which fans were able to catch a glimpse of in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'. In the comics, her first suit was based on Iron Man Armour Model 41, which was one of Tony Stark's older models that she reverse-engineered to put together. When her personal project was found out by the FBI, she went on the run, which marked the start of her hero story. 2. She Is An Ally Of Wakanda Riri Williams made her first MCU appearance in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', where she was brought in by Shuri to aid in the upcoming war in the city. As war raged in the Citadel, she was protected by Ramonda, the Queen of Wakanda, who had sacrificed herself to save Williams. Feeling guilty for the death of the Queen, she aided Shuri in the battle to defeat Namor, where we catch a look at Ironheart in action with a newly improved Ironheart armour. She was named an honorary citizen after the battle. 3. She Dropped Out Of MIT To Become Ironheart Following the 'Ironheart' comics, Riri Williams debuts as a genius inventor enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). However, things were not as bright as they seemed, as her time in school was met with disrespect from her faculty's Dean. She scrapped the whole balancing school work with superhero work and dropped out of MIT to focus solely on her new life as Ironheart. 4. A Founding Member Of The Champions If you aren't familiar with the Marvel comics, The Champions is a band of younger heroes of the Marvel comics formed when Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales, and Nova quit the Avengers. They recruited Ironheart as a member as they formed a team that cared more about helping people than just about fighting bad guys. Not much is revealed yet about its MCU adaptation, but we could be seeing a premiere on Disney+ after 'Avengers: Secret Wars'. 5. Ironheart Has her Own JARVIS In a similar manner to Tony Stark's humorous AI, JARVIS, Ironheart also created her own AI, which helps her fight crime. Her AI is called the Neuro-Autonomous Technical Assistant & Laboratory Intelligence Entity, or NATALIE for short. The name has significance to William's past, as that was her friend's name who had been shot during a drive-by shooting. NATALIE personality is based on William's memories of her friend, which take a more dominating persona. Are you excited about the newest addition to the MCU? Ironheart premieres in Malaysia on Disney+ Hotstar on 25th June 2025, with a three-episode drop. Cate Blanchett's retiring from acting? I'll believe it when I see it
Cate Blanchett is an actor's actor. Cate Blanchett is the type of actor whose characters – flinty, steely, sly, sophisticated – are hardly distinguishable from the person herself. She speaks with the jarringly refined accent of an alien trained only on stage melodramas. She does not laugh; she titters. She does not walk; she glides. She does not debase herself with the prosaic concerns of you or I. This is why it is very hard to believe that she is 'giving up'. In an interview with the Radio Times on Monday, Blanchett suggested she was no longer an actor. 'My family roll their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting,' she said. '[There are] a lot of things I want to do with my life.' What might these 'things' even look like? Granted, the two-time Oscar winner has other projects on the boil: she is working extensively with the UN, she is running a very prolific production company, she is walking down brutalist corridors and opening her eyes very slowly for Giorgio Armani. That's not to mention her three films currently in development: as an actor in Jim Jarmusch's Father, Mother, Sister, Brother (due later this year); as both actor and producer in sci-fi comedy Alpha Gang and Ben Stiller's The Champions. But what does a grand dame do with her downtime? Blanchett is not ordering a coffee; her piercing gaze would make a barista die instantly. Blanchett is not visiting the hairdresser; like Tilda Swinton, she simply wills her blondness into existence. She'd hardly be the first performer to exaggerate their commitment to retirement. Maybe she'll pull a Daniel Day-Lewis, who exited the industry after Paul Thomas Anderson's Phantom Thread in 2017 – only to return for an upcoming film directed by his son. None of Blanchett's children have entered the film biz thus far – though her eldest son was purportedly '[performing] his own version of Hamlet' at age nine, which would sound like an uppity fiction for anyone except a child of Blanchett's. Ophelia calls. Or maybe Blanchett could take inspiration from her recent colleague Steven Soderbergh, who directed her in this year's spy caper Black Bag. 'For the foreseeable future, the movie door is closed,' Soderbergh averred in 2013 – before proceeding to make 11 films in a decade. Lying! Isn't it the best? We could also peer outside Hollywood entirely – to the equally lawless plains of pop music. Look at Elton, who began his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in 2018 – and ended it in 2023 after making $939m from 330 shows, the third highest-grossing tour of all time. Or Cher – who embarked on a similarly tortuous farewell tour from 2002 to 2005, only to return with the aptly named extravaganza Here We Go Again from 2018 to 2020. Retirement, these days, is incredibly lucrative. When Blanchett launches a Vegas residency playing her character in Blue Jasmine, consider me front and centre. Then again, not all retirements have been fake-outs. Despite no official statement, Rihanna hasn't released an album since 2016 – though Fenty Beauty has made her a billionaire in the intervening years. Is Blanche by Blanchett on the horizon? When Blanchett launches her cosmetics line, you can say you read it here first. Finally, representation for people with perfect complexions and flaxen tresses.

Lionel Messi, Inter Miami facing Champions Cup exit danger after controversial LAFC defeat
The stars came out to see Lionel Messi on his latest visit to Los Angeles, but it was a less-than-sparkling night for the Inter Miami superstar as his team slumped to a 1-0 defeat against LAFC in the first leg of its Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal. Messi's appearance tempted several members of the NBA's Golden State Warriors to BMO Stadium, along with veteran recording artist Lionel Richie and rapper Becky G, but a 57th minute strike from Nathan Ordaz was enough to tilt the clash in favor of the home side, who will carry their slender advantage into next Wednesday's second leg. Advertisement Ordaz collected the ball in space, advanced quickly and smashed it home from outside the area to give LAFC a lead it would never surrender. Earlier, Miami had strongly argued for Ordaz's dismissal after he tangled with defender Maximiliano Falcón and appeared to make heavy contact with a swinging arm. Instead, referee Oshane Anthony Nation opted to issue just a yellow card to the 21-year-old after viewing video replay, much to LAFC's relief. After a scoreless first half, Ordaz made the most of his good fortune. A deep strike from Nathan Ordaz gives @LAFC the lead in @TheChampions! 👏 — Major League Soccer (@MLS) April 3, 2025 LAFC improved as the game went on, but still had to withstand a series of half chances that Messi often turns into goals. The Argentina forward sent one free kick from just outside the box over Hugo Lloris' crossbar and delivered another straight into the arms of LAFC's French goalkeeper, who famously came off second best against Messi in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar. Late on, a swift-footed run into the penalty area and a low shot were not enough to bother Lloris, before a final free kick was curled too high in the waning minutes, leaving Miami with plenty to ponder on their journey home and ahead of Sunday's MLS regular-season clash with Toronto FC. There have been some concerns over Messi's fitness, and his usage by coach Javier Mascherano has been intermittent in recent weeks. He missed Argentina's thumping victory over Brazil last week with a hip complaint. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni was present in L.A. to watch Wednesday's proceedings. This was Miami's first defeat of the 2025 season, having won four of its first five MLS games while accumulating 13 points. Messi and company are hoping to avoid a repeat of last season's quarterfinal exit, where Liga MX's Monterrey were too strong over two legs and Messi was hindered by injury. Advertisement The visitors received another blow, with Sergio Busquets destined to miss the second leg after receiving a yellow card, taking him over the accumulation threshold for a one-game ban. For LAFC, Denis Bouanga was strong and threatening, while a defense marshaled by Aaron Long held firm in the face of consistent pressure.

After a dull first-half that produced just one shot on target from either side, the quality attacking moves remained few and far between as neither side was all-too keen on giving away the opener. Chicharito made his cameo past the hour mark, but the legendary Mexican forward struggled to receive service. The deadlock was finally broken however when América shot themselves in the foot with an own-goal courtesy of Sebastián Cáceres after his keeper punched the ball out into his face. ¡Las Chivas toman la delantera en el marcador! ⚽#ConcaChampions — Concacaf Champions Cup (@TheChampions) March 6, 2025 While it was a shocking way for América to go behind in the tie, they will have the chance to dig themselves out of the hole in the Aguilar 65' It was all Galaxy in the opening 45 minutes, but they did little threaten with their dominant possession.
