Chris Evans was at the helm of The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with the National Lottery on Virgin Radio UK this morning when he speculated over how things might play out at ITV. He wished everyone at ITV "good luck" before saying: "It's tough out there. It's tough on terrestrial television at the moment. "They're basically halving the daytime budget. "So a lot of shows are going down to half the number of episodes they're currently showing." He then shared: "And there's a conversation that [GMB] might meld with Lorraine and Lorraine might meld with This Morning, This Morning might meld with Loose Women." Chris later said that the shows were all quite alike. He said: "And the shows, they're not dissimilar, are they? The shows, you know, they have a lot of the same people on. "You know what I would do because people are fans of different shows? "If you're going to plug something on GMB, you could just hang around and then go on Lorraine. ITV Faces Major Shake-Up: Good Morning Britain Stars Under Threat Amid Cost Cuts "I'm not joking you could you know and then you could hang around and go on This Morning so if you're on Lorraine between 8:30 and 9:30 hang around or go for a little jog or something, they've got showers there you know or go and have some food or catch up on some emails. "And then go on, say the last half hour of This Morning. Nobody would notice." This comes amid chatter that beloved morning host, Lorraine, 65, who underwent surgery earlier this month, could quit TV for good. Sources say that staff on Lorraine are fearing the legendary host could quit. It escalated during the same year when Phillip rudely interrupted her while she was presenting a preview of Loose Women during an episode of This Morning, with Phil later sacked from the show in 2023. Holly Willoughby and Phil Schofield, 2023: Back in 2023 The Sun revealed how the pair were "barely speaking" off-camera, something which escalated when Phil's affair with a show runner was exposed In a very drastic move from ITV amid the shakeup they revealed this week, the Scottish presenter's show will be slashed from an hour to 30 minutes. Not only this, but it will only air for 30 weeks out of 52. The changes mean fewer appearances from Lorraine, who has hosted her self-titled programme since 2010 and been with ITV since the 80s. Her regular stand-ins, Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh, will not host the show on a Friday anymore, but will remain part of the "ITV family", it has been revealed. Even though ITV boss Kevin Lygo has insisted that all presenters will remain the same across all affected programmes, a source told The Mirror: 'There are genuine fears among staff that Lorraine may decide to walk if the quality of the show they are putting out declines. "It's hard to see how standards won't fall….and there are questions over whether Lorraine will want to be associated with that. "Lorraine and her team are perfectionists - it's why the show is loved by so many.' The source added that the move was a 'kick in the teeth' for the programme. A second insider added: 'This is a presenter who has just come back from having an operation, has won a Bafta, is enjoying record ratings….and then ITV show their appreciation by yanking her off air half the year. "Staff are beside themselves, and have been in tears constantly. "It doesn't make any sense given the trajectory the show is on.' Altogether, ITV is slashing 220 jobs, as it aims for cost savings of up to £50million. ITV confirmed in a dramatic statement that from January 2026, the show will air 9.30am to 10am, and only for 30 weeks a year. The move comes as part of a major overhaul of ITV's Daytime schedule, which will also see Good Morning Britain extended to 9.30am and produced by ITV News at ITN. This Morning and Loose Women will continue but share production resources in a cost-cutting blitz. ITV says savings made will go into dramas and major sporting events, including the next football World Cup.

Larry Lamb reveals two actors in Gavin & Stacey 'went rogue' and stormed off in the wedding scene during final episode

Larry Lamb has revealed that two actors objected to Smithy and Sonia getting married during Gavin and Stacey's Christmas special and stormed off the set during filming. The actor, 77, who plays Mick in the beloved show, has confessed that the scene of the famed final episode caused huge upset with unknowing extras who did not know what to do with the news. Speaking on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Larry explained the two actors 'had enough' and 'thought no he shouldn't'. He told Chris: 'When you're doing film and television it's all according to locations it's not at all according the clock or the calendar. 'So you can do jobs where you do the end on the first day because they could only get that location for that day but this they'd engineered it so we were going to be filming the last day on the last day, which was extraordinary, just amazing, but you still had to go through it and it got really, really emotional.' To which Chris replied: 'Of course you knew it was coming because you read the script 10 months ago, but your character can't know it's coming because that's not what happened. Larry said: 'You've got to live with it and watch all the extras sitting in the wedding scene, watching their faces because they didn't know anything about this. 'They're in there watching a wedding and all and so it's like, "what's going on here? Do we laugh? Do we cry? What are we supposed to do?" 'And they asked for people to stand up, two of the extras at the back, they just got up, they'd had enough, they thought, "no, he shouldn't". That was never written, they just thought, "no he shouldn't".' The Christmas special and finale came five years after the show's last Christmas instalment in 2019. It was hailed 'perfect' by viewers, who were left in tears as the long-running show finally aired its last episode after 17 years. While fans tuned into the episode to see whether Smithy had accepted Nessa's proposal from the 2019 Christmas Special, a five-year time jump revealed that he was indeed set to tie the knot, but all was not as it seemed. It was revealed that Smithy had instead got engaged to his girlfriend Sonia, who failed to impress the Shipman/West clan when she met them in the last festive episode. Fans were also treated to the surprise return of Sheridan Smith as Smithy's sister Rudi, and Pam Ferris as his mum Cath. Yet when it came to Smithy's big day he realised that Nessa was his one true love and called off the wedding. The entire family jumped into Dave's coach and rushed to Southampton, where Nessa was preparing to set sail, and in a scene 17 years in the making, he declared his love for her, and asked her to reconsider leaving. While an ever-stoic Nessa insisted she wouldn't propose to Smithy again, instead he returned her offer from five years earlier, finally getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. The episode then cut to Smithy and Nessa exchanging their vows at long last in an intimate ceremony in Barry, with the series ending with an emotional montage of the family marking the occasion at The Dolphin pub, before posing for a family snap together. Larry's appearance on Virgin Radio comes after his latest role has been revealed following the final episode of Gavin and Stacey. The actor reprised his role as Gavin's dad, Mick Shipman, for the feature-length festive special on Christmas Day that concluded the BBC series 17 years after it first hit screens. He is now set for a very different role as he stars as a pub garden weatherman in new advertisements for Greene King pubs. Larry will be presenting The Sipping Forecast a weather report designed to help punters navigate the unpredictable spring conditions. This April, he will deliver special broadcasts to ensure Brits are prepared for pub garden season, come wind, rain, or shine. In new photos, ahead of the ad, the actor is seen in a colourful Hawaiian shirt before changing into a green rain coat. Greene King Pubs is giving away 100,000 free pints as part of its When It Rains, We Pour initiative. The first raindrops detected between 3-10 April will unlock the UK's biggest round of pints — so pub-goers can claim a drink on the house.

Geri Halliwell-Horner cuts a chic figure in all white as she reveals surprising reason why she puts on different accents during Virgin Radio appearance

Geri Halliwell-Horner cut a chic figure in all-white as she revealed why she sometimes speaks in different accents during an appearance on Virgin Radio on Tuesday. The former Spice Girl, 52, was glowing as she left the London-based radio studio in white flared jeans and a matching sweater vest, which she layered over a frilly top. She added a cream wool blazer with pearl details and strutted around in nude boots to complete her look. Geri accessorised with dainty pearl earrings to match and wore her auburn locks in loose curls as she departed the studios. She opted for a glamorous palette of makeup to elevate her natural beauty and seemed to be in high spirits following her interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show. While live on air during the appearance, Geri got a phone call from an unknown number. The former Spice Girl, 52, was glowing as she left the London-based radio studio in white flared jeans and a matching sweater vest, which she layered over a frilly top She said: 'Let's have a look who that is… it's not anyone interesting. It was a random number. 'Do you know what I do when someone calls me if I get a random number? I put on an accent in case they want to steal your voice.' The revelation comes just after Geri left This Morning viewers baffled when she showed off not one, but three different accents during her appearance on an episode earlier this month. The singer was on the ITV daytime show to discuss her brand new best-selling children's book Rosie Frost: Ice On Fire. Her new book - which retails from £7.99 - is the second in a trilogy that began with the 2023 bestseller Rosie Frost And The Falcon Queen. Revealing what the book is about, she told hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond: 'Rosie Frost, she is set in present day, she's orphaned, but this is un-airbrushed orphan grieving and she's sent to an island. 'The island is a bit like Jurassic Park but for endangered animals at a school built by Queen Elizabeth I. 'She's sent there, they are all descendants of Tudors. So if you like history it's all in there. 'It's then a page-turning action adventure, and she has to find the courage to face up to bullies. She opted for a glamorous palette of makeup to elevate her natural beauty and seemed to be in high spirits following her interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show 'It's the second book and she finds out her mother was murdered and wants revenge. And there's a little bit of love in there as well.' 'Is it true that she sneaks out as well, and this is based on you?' Alison asked, before adding: 'She's a little bit naughty and she sneaks out to see boys.' Geri clarified: 'I wouldn't go as far as that but I'm always borrowing little bits. You know, whether it's from inside of yourself or other people. 'You know, you'll find yourself in these characters.' Turning her attention back to what the book is about, she continued: 'This book is about revenge, you know the ricochet of revenge. For example, if I do something bad to you and then you do it back. 'It just goes bang, bang, bang, but afterwards you feel a bit icky. She behaves quite badly in it but then realises, was it worth it? It looks at that.' Dermot then asked the singer where she gets her ideas from when it comes to the inspiration behind her work. Geri replied: 'I'm a bit of a curious, lazy, nerd. Like you, you're always finding out about things. I just wouldn't it be nice if the world had a new hero. 'Someone that's not prefect. That if I see it, I can be it. Boys cry but they are not wet wipes. You know there's all different kinds of characters. You'll find yourself in there. 'Not airbrush, not perfect. I thought we need that. But it's also entertaining and funny, and real.' Revealing how long the book took to write, she said: 'This one took 18 months, I'm writing the third in the trilogy now. It's a dream come true.' When asked if she would ever want to play the characters she has written, the noughties star replied: 'I thought I would want to play a teacher if it became a film. I do the accents for the audio book. 'You haven't got a Brummy in there, but I do some accents.' 'What accents do you do?' Alison asked, before Geri said: 'I had an acting accent coach there.' She then switched into a Southern American accent as she described one of the characters. 'She's like 'oh my God Alison, you got to be out of your mind'.' Geri then put on an Irish accent as she said: 'Then we got a Dermot, he's kind of just Dermot, 'what are you talking about?'' Finally, Geri changed into a French accent. 'Then we have Madame Lure, 'you're just so elegant. I'm so proud of you',' she said. 'You're so good. I want to listen to the audio now. I'm not going to read the book,' Alison gushed. In her Virgin radio interview, Geri shared that the film adaptation of her first Rosie Frost book could be on-screen by 2027 - confirming that the 'biggest producer in Hollywood' has the rights to the series. She said: 'We're looking at the writer now to make the scripts…I get to help choose Rosie, and they're including me and they are just amazing people.'
