Geri Halliwell-Horner cuts a chic figure in all white as she reveals surprising reason why she puts on different accents during Virgin Radio appearance

Geri Halliwell-Horner cut a chic figure in all-white as she revealed why she sometimes speaks in different accents during an appearance on Virgin Radio on Tuesday.
The former Spice Girl, 52, was glowing as she left the London-based radio studio in white flared jeans and a matching sweater vest, which she layered over a frilly top.
She added a cream wool blazer with pearl details and strutted around in nude boots to complete her look.
Geri accessorised with dainty pearl earrings to match and wore her auburn locks in loose curls as she departed the studios.
She opted for a glamorous palette of makeup to elevate her natural beauty and seemed to be in high spirits following her interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.
While live on air during the appearance, Geri got a phone call from an unknown number.

She said: 'Let's have a look who that is… it's not anyone interesting. It was a random number.
'Do you know what I do when someone calls me if I get a random number? I put on an accent in case they want to steal your voice.'
The revelation comes just after Geri left This Morning viewers baffled when she showed off not one, but three different accents during her appearance on an episode earlier this month.
The singer was on the ITV daytime show to discuss her brand new best-selling children's book Rosie Frost: Ice On Fire.
Her new book - which retails from £7.99 - is the second in a trilogy that began with the 2023 bestseller Rosie Frost And The Falcon Queen.
Revealing what the book is about, she told hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond: 'Rosie Frost, she is set in present day, she's orphaned, but this is un-airbrushed orphan grieving and she's sent to an island.
'The island is a bit like Jurassic Park but for endangered animals at a school built by Queen Elizabeth I.
'She's sent there, they are all descendants of Tudors. So if you like history it's all in there.
'It's then a page-turning action adventure, and she has to find the courage to face up to bullies.
She opted for a glamorous palette of makeup to elevate her natural beauty and seemed to be in high spirits following her interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show
'It's the second book and she finds out her mother was murdered and wants revenge. And there's a little bit of love in there as well.'
'Is it true that she sneaks out as well, and this is based on you?' Alison asked, before adding: 'She's a little bit naughty and she sneaks out to see boys.'
Geri clarified: 'I wouldn't go as far as that but I'm always borrowing little bits. You know, whether it's from inside of yourself or other people.
'You know, you'll find yourself in these characters.'
Turning her attention back to what the book is about, she continued: 'This book is about revenge, you know the ricochet of revenge. For example, if I do something bad to you and then you do it back.
'It just goes bang, bang, bang, but afterwards you feel a bit icky. She behaves quite badly in it but then realises, was it worth it? It looks at that.'
Dermot then asked the singer where she gets her ideas from when it comes to the inspiration behind her work.
Geri replied: 'I'm a bit of a curious, lazy, nerd. Like you, you're always finding out about things. I just wouldn't it be nice if the world had a new hero.
'Someone that's not prefect. That if I see it, I can be it. Boys cry but they are not wet wipes. You know there's all different kinds of characters. You'll find yourself in there.
'Not airbrush, not perfect. I thought we need that. But it's also entertaining and funny, and real.'
Revealing how long the book took to write, she said: 'This one took 18 months, I'm writing the third in the trilogy now. It's a dream come true.'
When asked if she would ever want to play the characters she has written, the noughties star replied: 'I thought I would want to play a teacher if it became a film. I do the accents for the audio book.
'You haven't got a Brummy in there, but I do some accents.'
'What accents do you do?' Alison asked, before Geri said: 'I had an acting accent coach there.'
She then switched into a Southern American accent as she described one of the characters. 'She's like 'oh my God Alison, you got to be out of your mind'.'
Geri then put on an Irish accent as she said: 'Then we got a Dermot, he's kind of just Dermot, 'what are you talking about?''
Finally, Geri changed into a French accent. 'Then we have Madame Lure, 'you're just so elegant. I'm so proud of you',' she said.
'You're so good. I want to listen to the audio now. I'm not going to read the book,' Alison gushed.
In her Virgin radio interview, Geri shared that the film adaptation of her first Rosie Frost book could be on-screen by 2027 - confirming that the 'biggest producer in Hollywood' has the rights to the series.
She said: 'We're looking at the writer now to make the scripts…I get to help choose Rosie, and they're including me and they are just amazing people.'

Jessie J 'hinted at secret health battle weeks before announcing her breast cancer diagnosis'

Jessie J appeared to drop a hint about her cancer diagnosis weeks ago during a performance in London. The singer, 37, announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer in a social media post on Wednesday and said the condition had been caught 'early'. But the announcement appears all the more poignant now given what Jessie is reported to have told fans while performing at Union Chapel on May 20. Accorrding to The Mirror, the star told her fans at the show she was putting herself first and wanted to have fun. She said: 'I know we are all going through our own battles in life, we are all struggling in our own way. We talk about it sometimes, and sometimes we don't. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I'm grateful I have the voice and the strength to be able to put those experiences into songs that people can take and make them their own soundtrack to help them get through a tough time, a good time, a scary time.' The hitmaker also seemed to reference her cancer battle when she introduced her new song No Secrets. 'This song for me, more so than ever right now, is getting me through my life,' she said. No Secrets was Jessie's comeback song after a four-year hiatus, during which time she welcomed her son Sky, two, with basketball star Chanan Colman. Jessie revealed that she discovered she had the illness before the release of her hit new single No Secrets, which was released on April 25. The mother of one said she would be undergoing surgery after performing at the Summertime Ball in London on June 15. In the clip, Jessie said: 'Hi, I have been going back and forth a little bit on whether to share it. I want to but there's lots of opinions outside... 'Also knowing that I want to share with my fans and the people that care about me, also I'm a sharer. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life. 'Before No Secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word early. 'I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period, adding that she had not been adequately 'processing it because I'm working so hard.' Jessie said she 'wanted to be open and share it - one, because selfishly I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it 'cause I'm working so hard.' She added: 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me, with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories.' The London native stated: 'I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse. That's the bit that kills me.' 'I just wanted to let you guys know it wasn't something I planned. I'm getting to keep my nipples. That's good, it's a weird topic and a weird situation.' Jessie reflected: 'To get diagnosed with this as I'm putting out a song called No Secrets, right before a song called Living My Best Life – which was all pre-planned, before I found out about this. I mean, you can't make it up.' Continuing the lighthearted mood, she wrote in the caption: 'No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called Living My Breast Life?' She joked: 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job,' adding that the operation to excise the cancer would occur sometime after her appearance at Summertime Ball at London's Wembley Stadium on June 15. Jessie told fans she would 'disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery and I will come back with massive t**s and more music.' Continuing the lighthearted mood, she wrote in the caption: 'No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called Living My Breast Life? 'All jokes aside (you know it's one of the ways I get through hard times). This last two months have been so amazing, and having this go on alongside it on the sideline's has given me the most incredible perspective. 'BUT... your girl needs a hug. Also not getting massive t**s. Or am I? No no.. I must stop joking?' Later reflecting on her news, Jessie wrote on her Instagram Story: 'Just shared (posted) something super personal I have been holding onto for 9 weeks. 'The timing of it has been mad but beautiful and given me this incredible perspective in this time. But honestly I need to process it and, I need a hug. 'You have loved me through all my good and hard times. I don't want this to be any different.' Jessie's celeb pals including Rita Ora and Marvin Humes flooded her post with supportive comments and well wishes Jessie's celeb friends flooded her Instagram post with supportive comments and well wishes with Rita Ora writing: 'Your literally my favourite person and I'm praying for you you've got this. my mother had it and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough so I'm here for you. X' Singer Paloma Faith commented: 'Sending so much love I have every confidence you will beat this' JLS star Marvin Humes added: 'Ain't no one stronger than know you've got this..' whilst his wife, Saturdays star Rochelle posted: 'We love you so much.' Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, who has fought her own breast cancer battle, said she was 'sending so much love and strength.' Scott Mills also paid tribute to the pop star on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Wednesday morning, after it was announced that Jessie is playing at Radio 2 in the Park in Chelmsford in September. 'Jessie, just to say, we're sending all the Radio 2 love your way,' Scott said on air. 'Sending so much love to you and your family and we will see you in Chelmsford.'

ALEXANDRA SHULMAN'S NOTEBOOK: An unexpected audience with my late, great father

Fiddling around on my laptop the other evening, I accidentally flicked a key and found myself listening to an episode of Desert Island Discs from the Radio 4 archives. Utterly unexpectedly, out boomed the unmistakable voice of my late father Milton, from an episode recorded in 1994. It was an extraordinary moment. Briefly, I wanted to stop it. I wasn't braced to hear him and feared it would make me miserable. But the urge to listen was stronger. I then wanted to keep listening for hours to the anecdotes I'd heard so many times throughout my childhood. His being hired by Lord Beaverbrook to be a film reviewer with no previous experience. His quite ridiculous pronouncement he had seen no new important plays during his 40-odd-year career as the theatre critic for London 's Evening Standard. The episode so vividly painted the picture of an ambitious Canadian who came to London with the military in the war and fell in love with the city and journalism. He never lost his Canadian accent. The whole interview was suffused with his amusing, proud and combative personality, and immediately I could see us all back round the family dinner table immersed in one of our many heated discussions. It was lovely to hear him again, but it was also desperately sad to know that this was the only way I can hear him now. He sounded so familiar, as if it were only last night that I'd heard him deliver some passionate opinion or other. In fact it has been 21 years since I last heard him speak. It was such a powerful reminder of how much I still miss him. Pregnancy is now the height of fashion Pregnant Saoirse Ronan looked ravishing at the Louis Vuitton Cruise show in a silky LV satin and lace slip that offered absolutely zero help in the bra department. I envied her. I can't imagine being able to go braless on a red carpet when I was pregnant. But things are different now. Pregnancy is a high-wire act of happily showing off this miraculous condition while maintaining high fashion credibility. Visible pregnancy has been acceptable for decades (in the 1950s women were squished into corsets, swathed in smocks and more or less hidden). But it's only recently become a fashion talking point. It's not just Rihanna in Marc Jacobs, or Sienna Miller in a white Schiaparelli puffball skirt and crop top at Vogue World, announcing their pregnancies to the world on the red carpet. You only have to scroll through Instagram to see a panoply of massive bare bellies. Visible pregnancy has been acceptable for decades but it's only recently become a fashion talking point. It's not just Rihanna in Marc Jacobs, or Sienna Miller (pictured) in a white Schiaparelli puffball skirt and crop top at Vogue World, announcing their pregnancies to the world on the red carpet Nobody could have been more delighted than me to be pregnant at the age of 36. But within weeks I'd turned into something more akin to an armchair than a woman. I'd have been no more able to wear a braless satin slip or crop top than to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Every inch of me resembled a Michelin Man – including limbs and feet. It just would have looked terrible. Not so for Rihanna, Sienna and Saoirse. The compensation for spending nine months dressed in a selection of drab, elasticated clothes and increasingly unattractive underwear was the thought of the baby at the end. It was after my son was born, when I was still nowhere near ready to wear a silky slip, that it really got depressing. How a glass of pink can leave you blue It's rosé season. Which, if you love the wine as I do, makes this a dangerous time. Rosé slips down in a different way to red and white. I've developed a theory that this dreamy pink potion doesn't register with the body as quickly as other wines, so it's easy to feel no effect until you've drunk too much. One glass, two glasses, even three and it's possible to imagine you're still stone-cold sober. Then an hour later your metabolism catches up – by which time, yes, it's too late and a hangover looms. Now everything's rosy in the garden A passer-by outside my house last Friday morning would have seen a figure in the pouring rain wearing a dressing gown and flip flops standing in the middle of the road consulting their iPhone. That would have been me dealing with a tech problem. But what was heavenly was the rich scent of jasmine and roses from our front garden, released at last by the rain after the dry weeks of May. Tousled Meghan puts on the style Meghan has posted a picture of herself with Lilibet on social media. While others have focused on her decision to show, for the first time, a small glimpse of her four-year-old daughter's face, I am most intrigued by Meghan's hair. Usually blown dry to a petrol slick, here she shows off a tousled look, presumably her natural style. As a reluctant hair brusher myself, it's one of Meghan's few character traits I can relate to. She looked rather splendid. Why must the show go on... and on? We have tickets for the musical Stereophonic opening next week about the trials of a rock band based on Fleetwood Mac. But I've just discovered it's coming in at three hours and ten minutes. That's way past my preferred running time, which is a concise 90 minutes with no interval. Dame Rosemary Squire, one of London's leading theatre owners, apparently agrees. She's spoken to say that audiences start to panic about having to get up the next day after performances that last more than two and a half hours. I can only hope the music is half as good as the Fleetwood albums. Keep the mozzies at bay – with Marmite Last week I wrote of my incessant battle with mosquito bites. Thank you to everyone who offered antidotes. My prize for the most unexpected go to Marmite and Tiger Balm. I look forward to road-testing them.
