It Looks Like Marvel Studios Is Ditching Comic-Con This Year — GeekTyrant

There are dueling reports regarding what Marvel's plans are for Comic-Con this year. Heat Vision is saying, 'Marvel will break with tradition and not have its infamous, senses-shattering Saturday evening Hall H panel.' This seems crazy to me because they have so much going one right now and they'd have plenty of stuff to announce and show off. But they say, 'it didn't feel like the right [time].' It's explained that the 'company is still planing panels and events focused on its comics and games, as well as a booth that will play off of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps , which opens in theaters on the Friday of the annual fan convention.' Before that news hit, another report from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus, who is pretty reliable, said Marvel Studios was planning to drop the first teaser for Avengers: Doomsday at SDCC 2025. So, I guess he didn't get that one right. Avengers: Doomsday is the next massive team-up event from the MCU and fans could get their first look at the movie during the the event's run from July 24–27. While nothing is confirmed, the idea isn't far-fetched. In a response to a fan question, Perez shared: 'I have heard Marvel will return for SDCC, but I don't expect them to make it a grand spectacle like they normally do with Phase reveals. I think that the main focus for Marvel at SDCC will be to promote their new film, Fantastic Four: The First Steps, which coincidentally drops around the same time as SDCC this year. 'I'd also expect looks at Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again season 2, and VisionQuest, and an additional first look, possibly maybe even a teaser of Avengers: Doomsday.' So, the focus may not be a full-blown Phase 6 rollout, but there's a good chance Doomsday sneaks in with a first look, especially since it's already been filming since April. Marvel has a history of previewing early footage for the Comic-Con crowd before the rest of us get to see it. The film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are returning after their high-stakes run with Infinity War and Endgame, is already in production and scheduled to hit theaters December 18, 2026. I was hoping that Marvel would show up to SDCC this year, they always tend to give fans a thrilling mic-drop moment. It would've been wild to see them bring out the entire cast for Doomsday, including all of the unannounced cast members! That would be insane! But, it's not looking like it's going to happen. Bummer. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows one year later on December 17, 2027.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Rumor: Details for ‘Mysterious Female Character' Emerge

A new rumor involving a 'dark, mysterious female character' has emerged. Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive in theaters in July 2026. Tom Holland will once again reprise his MCU role as Peter Parker in the film, while Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are both expected to return as MJ and Ned. According to scooper Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day team 'has been researching Asian-inspired costuming, particularly looking into armor reminiscent of Japanese Shinobi and Samurai. The armor pieces in question harken back specifically to the late Sengoku period and the Edo period (17th century) of Japan. '…In addition to that research on Japanese Samurai and Shinobi, we have also received word of research into the look of a character described to us as 'a dark, mysterious female character.' This character also has a Japanese-inspired look. The main detail of the outfit involves a black kimono-style vest. However, the design is also modernized, featuring modern aesthetics that look like something out of a Cyberpunk fashion show. Lots of use of techwear & unconventional belt designs.' This should be taken with a grain of salt and treated only as a rumor at this time, as official plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day remain heavily under wraps. Stranger Things' Sadie Sink and The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas have also been cast in the new Spider-Man film, though it is unclear who they are playing at this time. The movie is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously made 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for Marvel Studios. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026, putting it between Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027).

Avengers 5 & 6 Rumored to Bring Back Mark Ruffalo's Hulk

A new industry rumor speculates that Mark Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner / Hulk in Avengers: Doomsday and will also appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. Notably, the character last appeared on the big screen in the mid-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2022). Ruffalo's last live-action appearance as the MCU Hulk was in the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. He also voiced variants of the character in several episodes of What If…? Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus claimed in a recent post on X (previously Twitter) that Ruffalo would appear as Hulk in Avengers 5 and 6. 'Yes. Mark Ruffalo is in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars,' Perez shared while responding to a fellow user's query on whether the Poor Things actor would be in the next Avengers movie. In late March 2025, Marvel Studios announced the cast of Doomsday, but Ruffalo, whose Hulk has been part of the MCU Avengers since the team's inception, was not among those listed. In April 2025, MCU boss Kevin Feige hinted at the 2025 CinemaCon that the Doomsday cast was not yet complete, teasing that more members could be announced in the future. Ruffalo debuted as Bruce Banner / Hulk in the MCU in The Avengers (2012) and has been one of the most consistent parts of the franchise since then, even though he never appeared in a solo project based around his character. Previously, the Hulk was portrayed on the big screen by Eric Bana in Ang Lee's Hulk (2003) and Edward Norton in Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk (2008). Notably, the Russo Brothers are directing Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The former will come out on May 1, 2026, and the latter on May 7, 2027.
