Venom's MCU Future Teased in New Rumor, Could Factor Into Avengers Movies
What is the new Venom MCU rumor?
During a recent Q&A session on The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez was asked about Venom. As fans might remember, a small piece of the Venom symbiote was left in the mainline universe of the MCU by Tom Hardy and Venom in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
According to Perez, the symbiote 'does belong to another universe,' and by existing in a different universe for so long, it will begin to 'cause friction' against the boundaries of the universe.
Perez was also asked about the symbiote bonding with the likes of Spider-Man and Scorpion, the latter of which has also been heavily rumored. Perez said that he doesn't believe any other heroes or villains will interact with the symbiote besides those two, and jokingly invoked the 'fifth amendment privilege' when asked if the symbiote will 'have any importance' on Brand New Day.
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Perez was asked about potential villains that Marvel Studios might have an eye out for in Tom Holland's rumored second trilogy of Spider-Man films. Perez said that villains like Wilson Fisk, Venom, Tombstone, Hammerhead, and Prowler have all been names tossed around.
So far, only Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been revealed
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.
They will be joined by recently announced cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), with Jon Bernthal set to make his movie debut as Frank Castle/Punisher. The latter recently played the anti-hero again in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O'Connor, and Avi Arad.
Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026 ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027), following Doomsday's delay.

Venom's MCU Future Teased in New Rumor, Could Factor Into Avengers Movies
A new rumor regarding Venom's role in the MCU and what it could mean for future movies, including Avengers projects, hints at how the iconic symbiote could factor into Marvel Studios' grand scheme. 60-year-old S.F. pub featured in movies has closed
After more than 60 years in San Francisco's Tenderloin, the popular medieval-themed dive bar Edinburgh Castle Pub has closed its doors at 950 Geary St. Owner Tay Kim, who bought the bar in 1999, confirmed the closure in a message to the Chronicle. U.S. Bank filed a foreclosure lawsuit against the bar in February 2024 for a more than $700,000 loan made in 2009, records show. According to the lawsuit, Edinburgh Castle stopped making monthly payments on the loan in 2023. This June, a court appointed receiver took possession of the property, and an auctioneer was appointed to sell the building. The pub has a rich history dating back to its opening in 1959. It was a favorite spot for a slew of famed writers, and hosted readings from the likes of Scottish writer Irvine Welsh, whose book 'Trainspotting' was adapted to a play first staged at the venue, before it became a film. He staged the American debut of the production at the bar, which he would later adapt into a hit movie. The Castle was also featured in the films 'So I Married an Axe Murderer' and 'Venom.' Despite its popularity in the 1990s and 2010s, when it was known to host live music, business in the historic space has been slower over the years, and Kim even put the bar up for sale in 2019. In the end, Kim told the Chronicle, 'COVID really was the main catalyst for our demise. We lost approximately 70% of our business. I've been there for 31 years so it was a good run at a place where magic happened. I don't miss it now but I'll miss it in time surely.' Mario Cortez contributed to this report. This story has been updated to include additional comments from Tay Kim and to clarify that the author Irvine Welsh wrote the book 'Trainspotting.'

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Set Photo May Reveal New Villain
One of Marvel's biggest franchises happens to be the MCU Spider-Man movie series starring Tom Holland as the titular character. Holland is set to reprise his role for the upcoming fourth installment of the series, Spider-Man: Brand New Day , with plenty of other characters joining the fold. Now one such potential character, a new villain, might've just been been revealed in a newly-surfaced Spider-Man: Brand New Day set photo. Quite a few villains and other hero characters have been teased or outright confirmed for the new film, though this particular villain is completely unprecedented. As such, fans may have to wait for an official confirmation, but the below set photo suggests that they're a likely candidate for appearing in the new sequel. As you can see below, the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set photo teases the character's villain with the inclusion of an armored vehicle. It's the logo attached to this vehicle, however, that has the attention of Spider-Man fans. Here's the image: New look at a decal on the Armored vehicles on the set of Spider-man Brand New Day Via: @ComicAcolyte — Spider-Man News (@SpiderMan_Newz) August 12, 2025 It's a logo featuring the head of a large cat, prompting fans to think that it represents the comic book character Puma. While Puma's involvement hasn't been fully confirmed, it would make sense, given the film's focus on street-level villains including some that have already been announced like Michael Mando's Scorpion. In addition to Holland as Spider-Man and Mando as Scorpion, the film also includes Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, along with Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas. This is certainly shaping up to be a very different kind of Spider-Man movie for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so hopefully we'll have more information regarding these developments in the near future. The highly-anticipated MCU follow-up Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
